Are you folks still enjoying this?

I've kind of lost my enthusiasm for it now, a combination of the difficulty in finding a reasonably priced network adapter and the liberation of quitting my last online addiction.

Is it still worth the trouble and expense? I'm thinking I'd have to spend about £50 plus the monthly fee (no free period?) and that's a fair chunk of my Wii budget.

firstly - does the ps2 version work with a usb keyboard?

Yes.

where is the best (cheapest) place in the highstreet for new ps2 games?

Dunno. Gamestation? I'd reckon it'll be £30-£35 in the shops.

and.... is there not a free trial? cause I can't really afford a license.

No free trial. You do get some days free but only once you've bought a license.

Not as far as I can see. It could be worse though mate, you could be in the same boat as donpeartree, hercules and Vezna who have had it since US release and have had to wait a month for the GL to go back up. They've also had to endure seeing me on live constantly playing it. :)

I've not really been on for over a week due to a combination of not wanting to level up and leave other forumites behind (still only lvl 26), the lack of content (although more missions and the last planet were opened up a few days ago), and not being too fond of soloing loads.

Is it worth it? That depends. It's PSO with a twist, really, and as such isn't anywhere near as complex or deep as other MMOGs. With no challenge mode as such, you're left with the repetitive grind of maingame PSO which can be good or bad, depending on your frame of mind and the company you keep. At the moment, it's to be played in short bursts of frenetic, shallow action, which can be a very good thing if you feel like that sort of gig or a bad thing if you want a bit more meat.

I enjoy it every time I play, but that's not very often. I daresay I'll enjoy - and play it - it a lot more when some other folks get online. After that first flush of new-found brotherhood is past, though, Sega will need to seriously speed up the drip of new content if this is going to have anyone sticking around much after the first month. And then there's the Wii to come...

Personally, I think it is worth the costs, but I can see the wider gaming community passing over it in favour of more modern, glamorous titles unless ST address the content issue. And I might take a break from it pretty soon after you guys jump on board and have waded through everything a few times, diving back in after a few more content updates.

Oh, and I still think (more than ever, in fact) that completing the game offline will make the online game even more empty. I never progressed beyond chapter 2, and I never will until and unless I've seen most of its content online. Which will be about 7 months at the rate the updates are going.

So caveat emptor and all that.

If I get this, will someone explain what the fuck I'm supposed to do? I enjoyed the demo but didn't really know what I was doing.

I'll be on tonight or tomorrow, depending on when the license hits and would be more than happy to show you around. Send me a friend request, my gamer tag is - Cecil Kay (in fact anybody playing PSU who wants some company can send me a friend request).

As if to herald the EU launch, the first positive review of the game just came out, from 1UP. It's written by an unabashed fan of the series, but that might just bring it in line with likely opinions of a few vets on this forum. For what that's worth.

Yeah, Mielke is a bit of a fan as his blog on 1-up attests too - I kinda expected they'd give it a fair balanced review. Kudos.

Subscription still isn't up on PlaySega - as expected really.

is subscription up on the 360? I know an indie that might break release for me, so I'm gonna try get it today, and would love to online it :D

My PAL 360 copy has arrived this morning (shopto.net), I will hopefully be online if Sega have guardians pass on tonight.

but basically I am going to play GOW if I cant get online, not touching the offline at all, as per you lot's recommendations.(I am worried that Sega wont release the pass until a much later date, because , well they are pants)
