spork
Mr Beast. It's out there and it's very good! Although there isn't enough big muff action like the good ol days but they can be forgiven, I think. Mogwai
Guest
Surprised hearing this, it is heavy as fuck! Fully awesome so far, it is like an edited version of CODY and fairly easily surpassses HPFHP and Rock Action. I need to hear this more, but potential album of the year for 2006 already? Can't wait to see them in january now.
McNeillR
At the minute I can only specifically say this: Glasgow Mega Snake = Mega. It's already on my next Mix CD. The album itself is probably the most accessible Mogwai record, for me anyway. I found it difficult to immerse myself in anything until I almost drowned in Rock Action a few summers back, and everything spread after that. It's like Young Team that they tried to fit through a cheese grater but ended up with a tougher, grittier lump of prog awesomeness. I don't know if it'll settle with the rest of their stuff or sink a bit lower. Yet. Intresting to see if it gets critically boosted or nudged down after HSFHP was generally widely well received. Rsdio
At the minute I can only specifically say this: Glasgow Mega Snake = Mega. Certainly is - it's hard not to do an air guitar thrash to it. As much as I'm enjoying it so far, I wish Alan McGee hadn't said that stuff about it possibly being "better than Loveless". Although I don't generally trust much that he has to say, I let myself believe it might be true a little bit. So rather than sitting here just enjoying another great Mogwai album, in the back of my mind I'm a wee bit disappointed. Which is stupid, really. jonny_rat
Man, this is pretty impressive. I was expecting it to be a slow burner like most of their other stuff has been for me, but it got in there right away. Whether that means it won't reveal as many layers over time remains to be seen.. scribble
I thinking its pretty ace. So different from HSFHP, too. Glasgow Mega-Snake = amazing.
thingymajig
I'm not going to download this, I'll just let the anticipation build untill it comes out. Whoever mentioned Christmas Steps, that is a fantastic song, and I think CODY is their best album ATM.
Rsdio
I've always thought CODY to be their best too, quite a lot of articles I've read would have you believe it's their worst so it's obviously not the general consensus.
thingymajig
While I'm of the opinion they have not made a bad album, their weakest is 'Rock Action' IMO. It's by no means a bad album, it just seemed to lack some of the fantastic climaxes that they were capable of, although '2 Rights...' is up there with their best. Beyond that and "You don't sound that scottish, is it purposeful?" I'm not sure of anything else. You're the fanboy, you do it. And we've been offered interviews from elsewhere, anyway. BlinkyBear
I'm refusing to listen to the album until it's released properly. As for interviews, i'l consider it, but i might actually die a little if i did the interview went shit. As for the other bands intrviewed, i've got one done for issue 4, so maybe Davros for the website? Anyhoo, not really the place for DM discussion! Rev
Nope. I was just listening to it on repeat and I felt I should add a more determined comment. But too lazy to edit. Timmo
The first track didn't do much for me. I think the first track on young team is possibly my favourite Post Rock record, if I punch myself and forget about Godspeed.

Fresh crown and 1% of monster. ← Apparently NME descibed Mogwai as being "as relevant as Snow Patrol" in their review. Unfortunately Mogwai dignified it with a response on their website, I would have thought better of them really though I'm sure I'd be pissed off if someone wrote such shite about me. Rsdio
There is a part of the piano riff that sounds really familiar, but I can't quite place it either. It does sound a little Tears For Fears-ish though.
