The don't-shoot-don't-die-for-the-first-sixty-seconds is impossible.

You know what, despite the claims made by certain people I really think it is. I'm also convinced that it lets you get past 60 seconds without telling you, just for a laugh, and then refuses to recongise your achievement. Either than or it puts your brain into bullet time.

"How long was I playing?"

"Twenty-five seconds."

"Felt like days..."

What tips have people picked up, beyond shoot and move like a lunatic? Trying to identify the patterns of the later enemies is an insane task while you're playing. So far I've got:

Shuriken-style enemies (purple?) - roam randomly.

Blue diamonds - home in, along with a nastier, faster green cousin after a while.

Purple cubes - home in with a kind of jitter and split into smaller units when shot.

Cowardly shapes (best I can do, can't recall the colour) - home in on you but run away from gunfire.

Black holes - spew out horror if not shot in time, pull things in.

I've got no idea if the worm creatures follow a pattern or what the red ship that shoots back does. By the stage they appear the time for tactics is over, anyway - it's reflexes or nothing. Usually nothing.

The sixty seconds without shooting challenge is rock hard, but do-able with some practice and luck. As soon as you here the chime you've got it - just don't quit out until you lose all lives or it won't count!

My high score is 201k, which I thought was good until I saw the high scores (almost 3million).

The key is obviously not losing the first life, after that you are unlikely to get much more of a score due to multipliers. Using bombs is much better than dieing.

Apparently a good tactic when things get ape-shit is to fire in the same direction as moving until you reach a wall, then go around the outside firing behind\side of you to clear up room. Also, only focus on the ship rather than whole screen.

I can't seem to pull off the tactic though, I always seem to crash into stuff.

Still not sure what to do with them circles either - best to focus efforts on killing them as soon as possible, or let them explode into the little bastards?

Also, when you get to 190k+ those tiny bastards are really fucking pains.

:(  hey get practising, you got until xmas to beat my measly high score of 186,000(btw that was my second go, not that I'm gloating or anything)

Chuffin ace game its making me want to get teh 360 out now. Sod it being the boys xmas pressie  :D

My highscore is around the 160 000 mark, but telling me that 60 second thing isn't impossible or at the very least damn hard, is bull!

Nope, it's easy did it on my second attempt. Nearly did it on my first attempt as well.

You dont even need to move for the first 15-20 seconds. Then you get a pretty tail of enemies by the end :(

But you can't hit them when they are sucking up stuff, can you? To me it looks like the bulletstreams are bending around it, because it deforms the grid.

They do warp bullets around them, but you can kill them really quickly if you get close. I suppose there's a danger of being drawn in. but it's never happened to me. If you fire from a distance the bullets will never make contact. Close up they hit before they get deflected.

You can hit the gravity wells while they're sucking stuff up, it's just that the aim's more difficult due to the distortion to space and everything in it that they cause. Manage to get near them straight on and you'll hit them every time, but it can be very difficult to avoid the enemies being sucked in, especially as you get towards a high score!

Those red ships that look like your own, are evil bastards.

I'm totally shit at this. But getting better.

The don't-shoot challenge isn't actually that hard (and I thought you had to do it without dying!), you just have to try to herd the green diamond things into one group.

They should have done a don't-move style challenge as well, where you can only shoot. And not die for two minutes or something. To balance it out like.

I never realised you could do it with dying!

Yup. Fully agree. Can't understand why they didn't think of putting that in!

Shit, you are allowed to use more than one life during the 1 minute don't shoot challenge?

Has anyone seen the swams of little dots you get at around 190-200k? They are such wankers it's unbelieveable. I die everytime they appear.
