Yeah I remember them saying they had dialled back on Idle Thumbs to concentrate on weekly Important if True. Wonder if there's something in their Valve contract not allowing them to podcast any more. I'm surprised their Patreon is still there when they've nod done anything in almost 10 months.

Not sure how popular it is here, but for those that aren't aware the IGN UK podcast is going to be changing pretty drastically :( Kruper, Powers and Gav have all left IGN and are going off together to seemingly start their own version of Prepare To Try (imo the best thing IGN has done). Alas they won't have the name PPT, but they've said to check their Twitters on Jan 7th for the full reveal.

They were my favourite 3 people on the podcast (probably because I've watched so much PPT) so I'll be curious to see what the podcasts like without them. Excited to see what they're up to next though.

Assume that means no more Keyword Countdown too, always loved that bit.

The other pity is that they have (had?) a  small but active and really good forum that seems to now be nearly dead since their podcasts stopped. Valve destroys everything good it touches.

Some of the podcasts hosted on their network are still going, specifically Three Moves Ahead, which was always a completely unrelated thing that just happened to be hosted on the same site (but even it hasn't been as good as it used to be recently).

Help me out here, I've been trying to think of this podcast for days. One-on-one format with an English host and a notable guest, usually a developer, discussing their formative gaming experiences. I'm sure Tim Shaefer did one and the only other thing I can remember that might help is that the host had a habit of saying "because it's important to have a consistent media presence" or some such when reciting the list of social networks the cast was available on. It's driving me slightly nuts.

Cheers chaps! I’m surprised (& delighted) how many people keep discovering the show despite finishing up back in April.

Also It shouldn’t bother me because but i feel compelled to point out I’m actually welsh/Irish and I live in Scotland. No idea why I have the accent I do. Too much TV probably.

Really enjoyed the GOTG TCGS and feel the correct game won!

Some thoughts spoilered as based on the reader knowing the result...

Spoiler

While terribly argued I think @murray was spot on with his reasons for knocking RDR2 down a notch, the controls are awful and it does feel last gen in many ways, the walled garden on missions does take you out of the illusion of the open world as they all become QTE quests that can only be played how rockstar want you too - a flaw that is old as the 3D GTA games.

I bounced off the game with about 10 hours on the clock, I hope to go back to it but will wait for a HDR fix , hopefully some improved controls but that’s unlikley!! It clearly has an incredible world and the story is amazing but much like TLOU if the game is an arse to play there is plenty out there to play and many films and tv shows with vastly better stories - when you have games like Astro Bot, Tetris, GOW, Celeste etc etc it’s hard to play a game that isn’t engaging you because the playing part of it is so difficult.

Top show lads, good luck @elmo with the family and hurry back, I’m sure the show will be great but having the main one whole cast completes the show :)

Is elmo’s seat being kept warm by a guest host?

The GOTY cast reminded me to check out Yoku’s Iskand Express and a.m. was delighted to find it on sale for £6 (Xbox One) and it’s really sucked me in after a few hours, not what I expected at all - until I head the podcast.

Thanks for all of the podcasts, laughs and your time elmo, hope to hear you on TGCS again!

Apologies!

Shame it is no more, but given I got into it late and haven't really listened to podcasts in a very long time the dozens of episodes that are there should get me through Picross S2 without too much trouble.

So Retro Asylum has reached 200 episodes! Me and the rest of the current Retro Asylum team go in search of RA hosts of the past to celebrate 200 episodes of “The UK’s No.1 Retro Gaming Podcast”.

Join us in our longest ever episode, as we look back at the show and discuss how the UK retro scene has evolved since we began Retro Asylum back in 2011.
