Timmo and I figured that there definitely aren't too many games podcasts out there so we've had a go at putting something together.

We both have a big backlog of old games to get through, so the basic premise is that we sent each other a list of the stuff we own but haven't played and each week we pick the game the other person has to go away and play based on our experience of it. Then we come back and discuss it. That's it.

The name of the show is Playing Catch-up and the first, ramshackle episode is now up, featuring Nier and Mark of the Ninja. If you're interested in listening it should now be showing up if you search for the podcast in iTunes, or the direct iTunes link is here:

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/playing-catch-up/id827542901?mt=2

Alternatively, if you want to add it manually to Downcast, etc. the link is:

Any and all feedback welcome, even if that feedback is 'one of you has a voice that's more dull than that teacher off Ferris Beuller and the other one sounds like his creepy, dull uncle'. We'll get better at it. Probably.

Two-and-a-half years and four co-hosts later, Playing Catch-up has shuddered back to life over recent weeks thanks to @MW_Jimmy agreeing to help me resurrect its twitching corpse.

We've had two episodes out recently covering 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, The Talos Principle, Broken Age and Gravity Rush. A bunch of you said nice things when the show first launched so I thought I'd mention it for those who have long since unsubscribed because of the lack of activity. If any of you take a listen, I'd love to know what you think; any feedback would be hugely welcome.

Here's the show in iTunes:

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/playing-catch-up/id827542901?mt=2

Alternatively, search for Playing Catch-up in your podcast app of choice, or add the feed URL manually:

The sound quality in Episode 10 was a little iffy at times but we've rectified that with the latest one. We're planning to get episodes out much more often now, with some shorter bits and pieces, dev interviews, etc. in-between the main episodes.

Huge thanks also to @BigShimmeryWall for the lovely new artwork (promise I'll mention it in the actual show next time!)

I think I'm done with the Giant Beastcast.

It goes on forever, is more annoying than funny and doesn't even really talk about games that well.

GB and Thumbs remain and Idle Weekend is only really hanging on for Rob's TV recommendations (yes Limitless was trashy, he likes Elementary and I should probably watch The Americans now)

Anyone sticking it out with Vinny and the others?

Just jumped back into this thread. Nice to see Playing Catch-Up back @Billy Brown. Just resubscribed after getting a new phone last month.

Aw, thanks! It's really great to be doing these again and on a regular basis. Hope you enjoy the newer episodes.

While I'm here, a quick heads-up to say we have an interview with Virginia developer Jonathan Burroughs going up tomorrow. The response to the interview with Sam Barlow on Her Story a while back was positive so hopefully people will like this one too.

Yeah, good decision. That's definitely a game to play without knowing too much beforehand. Sam had some really things to say about the process he went through so I'd definitely recommend giving it a listen if you enjoyed the game.

Anyway, thanks again for listening!

Now, I haven't listened to an episode yet but Vice Gaming has three well known names now on their podcast in the shape of Austin Walker, Patrick Klepeck and new editor Danielle Riendeau who joined from episode 9.  I'm downloading the lastest one now and given I like Danielle and Austin and Patrick this should be pretty good.  Anyone else listened to these?

I've always found that Klepek is spectacularly irritating, and whilst I like Austin I can only imagine what his style is like when it smashes into Klepek's navel gazing nonsense. I think I'd be tearing the earphones out in seconds.

I've been listening to PS I Love You since it started but think I'm giving up on it now. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but I quite like Greg. My problem is Colin. He seems to get more opinionated and arrogant every week. think I've had my fill.

This leaves me with only Gamesburst and Computer Games Show for my gaming podcasts, which makes me sad as I used to have loads subscribed.

I'm behind the times but do any of the GFW crew still podcast? Specifically Jeff Green and Shawn Elliott. I'm aware of Rebel FM and Geekbox but the magic isn't there.

Am also a recent convert to the computer games show - enjoy it a lot. Elmo is not what I was expecting from his forum persona over my years of lurking but I like his ballbusting approach to hosting :D

Being somebody who first got into podcasts through the 1up shows I've had Jeff and John on my show, and am hoping to get Shawn and Robert in the New Year.

I haven't plugged Checkpoints here in a while, but I've been on a tear of great guests recently if you haven't been listening. The latest episode with Meat Boy creator Edmund McMillen has been one of the most well received episodes I've done. Mr. Biffo on Monday too!

I keep meaning to check out your podcast. Mr Biffo gives me the perfect reason to.

I've listened to a number of Checkpoints episodes as a result of this thread, including the one with Jeff Green. Really enjoyed it so looking forward to the Shawn and Robert (Ashley or Zacney?) episodes. I see I've missed quite a few episodes since my last listen so I have queued up some of the most recent shows now.

Ashley, though Zacney is a good shout too! Thanks for listening, hope you enjoy them, tell your friends etc.

After Biffo all the December episodes are all people who have made some of my favourite 2016 games, Zach Gage (really bad chess) AP Thompson (Beglitched) Alex Preston (Hyper Light Drifter) and Jonathan Burroughs (Virginia)

Following his recent legal issues with a certain game developer I've recently been listening to a lot of Jim Sterling (Podquisition) episodes. Really finding it quite good as well. His Spin off Doctors episodes he does though are my favorite. Reviewing a bunch of movies based on games has had me pissing myself at work, the Pokemon The Movie one being the best.

Of course with all podcasts that have their comedic moments, it all depends on whether you get on with Jim Sterling's brand of humour (and fanny jokes).

I've had to quit listening to many gaming podcasts due to having fanny/willy/poo  jokes. I'm no prude, just can't be doing with it at my age

It's such a good podcast.

Do you listen to their Frame Trap one too?

Occasionally yes but they tend to be a bit too long for my liking usually 2hours+

60 to 90 mins is enough for a weekly podcast.
