I unsubscribed at long last, which is slightly sad as I have had a Garnett Lee podcast in my sub box since the 1up Yours days with Shane, John & Luke which is probably more than five years ago now. I had been listening to the show less and less often of late, but a couple of weeks back when they were droning on about failed MMO business models again somebody (Cannata I think) said something along the lines of "Whenever I am on a long car ride I like to start a discussion about how MMO developers could break the 'holy trinity' mechanic of tank, healer and dps..." and I just had to turn it off. I might be a massive geek, but I dont need to listen to endless idle speculation about videogames with very little insight or substance. Weekend Confirmed has been far too much of that for months.

Oh, and I think I have decided the current Thumbs lineup of Chris, Sean and Jake is my favourite.

I'm considering unsubscribing from Weekend Confirmed. I've followed whatever Podcast Garnet has been on ever since the 1up Yours days but it has become clear it was all about the group dynamic & the current lineup just doesn't seem to have it. 8-4 Play has provided some much better listening recently with their WiiU/TGS/Apple coverage & Retro SNES feature & i've recently discovered that Chris Kohler does a short but informative & interesting podcast on games too (Wired's Gamelife), so i'm covered on the Japan-centric, new release & general discussion angles that Weekend Confirmed does seem to have dropped the ball on recently.

I have a backlog of Weekend Confirmed's to listen to, so i'll plough though them while i'm away for a few days this week, to see if it can still grab me.

Klepek managed to not be annoying on his guest spot on Idle Thumbs. Maybe because Remo reined in his ceaseless blabbering.

I gave up on the Bombcast for a few weeks more or less after his return, but gave last weeks a listen after hearing they basically throw RE6 under a bus (always fun to hear someone rip into something). Patrick basically is a parody of himself in it. It'd be funny if he wasn't so hateful.

The Dishonored quick look is a perfect example of it: Patrick clearly loves that style of game and is a big fan of the game in particular... but still manages to be annoying and sounds like an ill-informed dilletante when he talks about all stealth games being trial and error.

I dip in and out of the bombcast depending on what they seem likely to focus on, some weeks it's really great entertainment.

He manages to make the Dishonored QL quite incredibly dull.

Which is damn good going considering pretty much everything about the game, right down to the basic visuals, is interesting to some degree or another.

The Bombcast can be great, and generally was most weeks before April 2011. Recently it's been at it's best when back to 4 non-Chicago voices, and when there was nothing to talk about. The episode headed by Jeff that had half hour of aimless chat about numbers stations was great a couple of months back, for instance.

It's a shame Joypod isn't a more regular listen - I enjoy that far more these days (the recent Eurogamer episodes aside - sorry chaps, but the quality just wasn't there to enjoy the listen, for me). I've been working my way through some of the back catalogue, theres some gold in there.

Big popular podcasts are generally awful with utter dicks for hosts. I quite liked Rebel FM when half the show became relationship advice tho.

It was amusing for a while, especially when the only two topics for letters they ever read out (relationship advice and how to break into the games industry) were being answered by two unemployed people and someone who is clearly a virgin.

As annoying as some of the GiantBomb people can be, it's hilarious when they drop Ryan Davis onto one of gamespot's tepid, characterless, twat-filled podcasts in 'Quoted for Truth'. God those two gamespot guys are such bland idiots. One of them says that people think Cliff Bleszinski is a 'brute'.

Ryan Davis is pretty awesome. Brad too, generally. Really likeable guys for the most part. And Vinnie. It's Jeff and Patrick who seem to drive most people up the wall.

Thanks kiwi. Well try something new next year.

Sad thing is Ill really miss it this time. The last few times we went on a break I'd kind of had enough of the show but we're really enjoying the recordings of late.

Ryan has to be in the right context. Stick him in a video with Patrick and he just becomes a depressed and bored arse.

Jeff has insane taste in games, but I find him very entertaining.

Did you have issue with the latest Joypod? I was downloading quite happily and then it stopped and caused the machine to hard lock. tried redownloading and it denied the file existed. 2 mins later all was well and it's coming down now, very very slowly mind.

Yeah, I think Jeff has to be talking about the right thing too. Talking about rare games last episode was interesting, but similar conversations about all the stuff in his garage have been really tiresome!
