Nah. We've got a home at SPOnG so don't need any money to set up or anything.

I find it inspiriing because it means that Podcasting as a medium might be taken a little bit more seriously when the wider wrld realises that a bunch of guys chatting about video games can earn over $80,000

It can only do good things for podcasting.

I was chatting to a few friends about this last night and i personally feel that Apple should support its podcasters a little more. It would be fantastic if say you subscribed to a podcast and for every ten or so episodes you download you get a message pop up with something like

It seems as though you're enjoying this show, would you like to donate to it?

Then a list of set donations under a 'No Thanks' option.

Suprised Apple haven't set this up to be honest, they could make a fair amount of money from it too.

(not that i'm suggesting we'd make anything)

To quell my excitement I've gone back to episode 1 and started it over again.

The show is gold from the start. It's funny listening to them discuss what they think Fallout 3 will be and how it will do.

I started doing the same a few days ago. I listened to four in one day. It is indeed fucking gold. Find myself giggling or alternetively being drawn into the deep discussions of games.

I want some Strategy Chocolate Ultra Boost.

The first episode of idle thumbs came out the week my son was born and then went on for a little over 2 years whilst I changed nappies and did exactly NO gaming. They decided to quit the podcast just as I started to get my game time and podcast listening time back. Can anyone recommend a couple of old episodes to give me a flavour of why you guys love it so much?

I'd be up for a donation if it means some quality gaming podcasting. There is so little that excites me these days. Joypod and C&R are the only ones i bother with these days.

I would say that if you're going to listen to Idle Thumbs, just start at the beginning. There's no other way to introduce yourself to the many, many in-jokes that permeate the show later on.

Fortunately, much like GFW Radio, it's excellent from the start and no less entertaining for being out of date news-wise.

Since the Kickstarter announcement I've been listening to Idle Thumbs from the beginning — for the third time — and it's still incredibly entertaining and interesting. I'm also getting an extra element of enjoyment out of the things discussed that are somewhat prophetic, ironic or just a bit silly in retrospect; one of the first games they talk about playing, way back in 2008, is Diablo III, which still isn't out!

I'm super soaked about it returning. I do wonder if they'll have to place a moratorium on all the existing in-jokes, though; whilst you should listen from the beginning, it might be a bit daunting for newcomers.

Don't get me wrong, I like that Cane & Rinse is an attempt to do something a bit different with gaming podcasts, I just find it deathly boring. Am I alone here?

It's a bit TOO highbrow, but listenable.

shame about all the spoilers...

ok im starting idle thumbs from the start. see you in a while.

I forgot about midlifegamer which is also a good listen...but is yet another that has gone fortnightly.

What happened to gamerdork btw?

Oh and Elmo should hold a competition and invite a listener to his wedding :-)

I'd be up for it.

Jo on the other hand...

New OLL up on the dite, seems to be some tie in with GDC and Gamasutra.

What happened to gamerdork btw?

Such a shame for Gamerdork to have died a death the way it has, i think i got to one and half shows with that american bird and haven't listened to it since, it was atrocious.

I had listened to GD since its days as RLLMUK radio so very sad to see it gone the way it has. Does Xib still post here, perhaps he could update us on what has happened.

As for C&R, its fantastic, a very refreshing listen that complements the more easy going stuff like Gamescoop and RebelFM etc. I find them really interesting if its a game that i have played.

I keep on getting funny looks from people in the office as I crack out into laughter.

The whole 'baffle' sequence during the Ensemble Studios / Halo Wars discussion was hilarious... and the continual gag of scoops cracks me up every time. I think I listened to about 5 episodes yesterday, and I'm on my 2nd today.

Old Idle Thumbs Episode 1 (10/10/2008) is now playing. It's been 10mins and there have been no innuendoes, swearing or general abuse...this is not a podcast style I'm used to.

I managed the intro music, then it was 1730 so I went home...

About 45 mins into the latest Joypod and really enjoying the discussion with the chap from Big Pixel Studios. Intresting to hear what it takes to get an iOS game out there and the experiance of the app along the way. Great stuff :)

Thanks man. We tend not to do too many interviews so it's good to hear people enjoy them when we do.

In other news, what's going on at C&R towers?!

"Ooh, something wicked this way comes!"

Another going back through old Thumbs, loving it so much I felt an avatar change was in order.

On Episode 24 at the moment, highlights include "Shadow and Colossus" and "Fart Scry 2". This isn't funny as I write it out but it is. Also they've really made me want to play Bully now. Bird noise.
