I wish one of these big gun podcasts did a 'Spoilercast' where the listener knows going in that each game being discussed will be discussed in full. I'd love that.

Whilst not a big gun podcast, cane and rinse does exactly that and is lovely because of it.

I have to say Cannata was brilliant on Minecraft and Mario 3D this week. Just a joy to listen to. Xav's steadily growing on me too. In fact the whole show really emphasised how much better they are without a fourth chair. Unless they have someone like Shane on the usual 'special guests' just drag the overall standard of the conversation down.

Yeah, I can see why the new Endurance Run might be grating if you know the game really well, but I've never made it very far into Chrono Tirgger without getting lost in exactly the same way as Ryan got, then giving in out of boredom. So I empathise with them. It's not as funny as P4 or DP (mainly because Patrick just isn't a naturally witty guy), but they don't have to be funny to be entertaining. I don't see how it doesn't fit well with the feature, it's the type of thing that makes a great Let's Play if you ask me.

Also, who the hell finds Caravella irritating? >:< I would marry him.

Because to me the best thing about past Endurance Runs is the batshit insane story. As someone whose played Chrono Trigger almost to completion, it doesn't really have that, especially when compared to Deadly Premonition and Persona 4.

Still, it mainly comes to down to me missing Vinny and Jeff. :(

Yeah, it does lack a lot without at least one of those two, but I can at least watch it and enjoy it well enough, and I'm interested to see the game since it's a classic which I've never been able to persist with for very long. With DP I really couldn't stand watching the gameplay, but the insane plot and Jeff and Vinny pulled me through. The Brad/Ryan run was a bit crappy in comparison. I should probably go back and go through the P4 run soon, I stopped as I started playing the game myself, which I also ended up putting aside despite really enjoying it.

As I say, as much as he lacks the natural wit and charm of Jeff and Vinny I don't find Patrick as annoying as a lot of people seem to either. It must be really annoying for people who find him irritating, have played CT multiple times and have the backseat driver impulse when watching someone playing a game badly.

Also, Chrono Trigger has fantastic music.

Finally, how many episodes do we think the SRAM battery on their cart will last? :hmm:

I've really enjoyed the three episodes of Rerolled so far, yeah it's not the same but I'm still enjoying them more than any of the other podcasts I've tried recently. A lot of that is ntirely down to Lah who I've been a fan of through Some Other Podcast for a while.

I really haven't enjoyed many podcasts since the whole 1Up implosion, Idle Thumbs ended and Some Other Podcast went on hiatus. I gave up on weekend Confirmed and while i enjoy the Giant Bomb crew, at almost three hours every week, their podcast is just a bit too much.

I have a bunch of Cane 8 Rinse episodes lined up to try, juust haven't had the time yet.

Agreed on the consensus that the golden age (1up Yours, GFW Radio, Idle Thumbs) is long over. I am almost tempted not to buy Bioshock Infinite so Irrational go tits up meaning Chris Remo and Shawn Elliott have to go back into podcasting.

I do like Weekend Confirmed though, just not when Garnett is desperately trying to flirt with Andrea Rene and she is leading him on.

Have no idea who that bird is like, think thats part of the reason im not enjoying it anymore, find her pretty annoying.

I've got one of them, rerolled, to try should I not bother?

No harm having a listen if you have them, you never know you might like them.

I notice that Chris doesn't seem to be involved with Irrational Interviews any more. Does he have a different role at the studio now or has he moved on?

Good point. His Twitter profile now says he worked for Irrational, so it seems he is no longer with the company. Quite when this happened or what he is doing for a living now is a mystery to me though, I cant find anything that gives his most recent movements on t'internet.

There's point to the medium of podcasting without Idle Thumbs.

:(

Your Thumbs is my GFW radio. I wasn't a massive fan of Idle Thumbs but I know how you feel. GFW was just podcast perefction to me. I was attached to that show more than I have any tv series, film and maybe even Band. I hate the fact that they're no longer podcasting but there are still some cracking ones out there.

Weekend Confirmed has gone downhill but I still give it a listen, Newb Review seems to get better every week and I now look forward to every episode, Dark Zero is great, 8-4 Play has some fantastic shows out and Cane and Rinse is starting to really get into its stride.

Podcasting's not dead, I've just lost my first love and no matter how sexy my new find is, it'll never quite be 'her'. :(

Also, his twitter says he's based in San Francisco again. Irrational are in Boston, of course. Even if this means he is able to do a one-man podcast, I hope he does so.

I just looked her up on the net. Blimey, I would.

And who is that scottish bloke that sounds like a robot on the cane and rinse podcast? He might be a very nice guy, but he has a terrible voice and shouldn't be on a podcast.

Mr bibbly-bibbly-bub-brrrrrrr-bibbly. He either needs a new mic or to get his own - regional - gaming podcast.

I got a shout out on GFW once. It was on Jeff Green's last show, before I signed up to join rllmuk (I used to post on 1up when it was good, I stopped bothering after the 1upocalypse) but I loved GFW so much I decided to send them an absolute fuckton of English sweets and a copy of Viz magazine. Cost me nearly £15 in air mail. It was "the motherload" according to Shawn Elliot.

Awesome, I remember Shawn saying he was really into the Rowntrees Fruit Gums!

Sometimes I re-listen to the old episodes, and it's hard to see anything matching it ever again. I don't mean to put down all the new shows though.

Only me and one other person seemed to love Sports Anomaly but it turned into 4th String, which I liked for a while. But Greg and Fitch left and now it seems even Todd has stopped hosting to do his literary stuff :(

Those two teams of GFW and SA were so good, and I used to wish for more crossovers.

Just chiming in to say it's really sad there will be no more Darkzero. Feels like Giantbomb and Joypod are the only real podcasts left from a huge list that existed in another time :(

Although I have just spied in my itunes list there was an RPS episode released 2 weeks ago \o/

Joypod is still easily my fave.

Thanks man.

As for the Joypod Christmas special for those who care, the mighty Xibxang had to pull out. His work commitments are mental which would explain his lack of podcasting this year. Really bummed out about not having him on the show.

Having said that, i'm looking forward to recording because i think we've got a great line-up: Me, Michael, Sean, Ratso and Uzi.

You should get Xibxang as a guest on one of your normal shows next year to make up for it.

I was wondering what had happened to Todd. Is there any word on whether he'll be coming back?
