There isn't anything worse that Leigh Alexander. Nothing.

The second one is only for the serious masochist. I couldn't take 30 seconds of exposure to it.

Have to say, it is kinda a toss up between her and certain self important wind bag. The one who when on Rebel FM, drunk OR sober, will start bleating on about the director of the Zelda games and how he instead, understands far far better about how to make "a good one".

Why did Garnett suddenly shout 'SHUT IT BITCH' really loudly on Weekend Confirmed this week? Apart from that it was a little better this week, I just wish they'd cut 'what'cha been playing' to about 20 minutes and then gave the rest of the show over to discussion and debate about news and listener questions. And cut all the dreadful music bits.

I listened to the first few minutes of this weeks weekend confirmed and gods it was awful. Garnett can be okay but him trying to make innuendo out of every statement was just cringing. Fortunately for me (unlike the guests) I could just switch it off and walk away.

I actually find Jeff Cannata far more irritating than Garnett Lee. His insistence on trying to make a catch phrase out of the spelling of his name is just annoying. Coupled with the over enunciation of every other word, plus pauses multiple times in sentence as he thinks of what word or phrase to use next. And his general smugness of course. I've pretty much stopped listening because of him.

Aye. It happens every time Andrea Rene is on the show. Garnett turns into a 14 year old boy who has never seen a pair of tits before when she is on, and she completely encourages him every time he does it. Jeff seems to want to pull him up on it, but doesnt have the heart to do it properly.

Yeah, I thought the same. It's a shame the show's been so dull lately, when it started it seemed quite promising. I applaud them for trying to tackle more intellectual topics, but it feels very surface level. It only serves to remind me it doesn't have nearly as much depth or entertainment value as something like Idle Thumbs. God I miss thumbs. I also I really miss Brian Leahy, I liked his more mechanical assessments of games even if he did grate a bit occasionally. He liked Street Fighter though, so he's okay. Del Rio's music is awful though and the novelty of those remixes has well and truly worn off.

I think the 8-4 podcast is the most entertaining every (other) week right now, and although he's pretty pushy, I quite like Mark MacDonald as a host.

A little better? Every time she makes an appearance Andrea guarantees it'll be the worst show she's been on since her last. For a games journalist she has an astonishing inability to actually talk about games beyond simply relaying how she emotionally feels about a given title. Her interrupting Garnett and Jeff's (very good) Final Fantasy XIII discussion by simply proclaiming herself "bored of the whole franchise" was bad enough. But my eyes nearly rolled out of my head when Jeff patiently attempted to coax a little more of an explanation out of her, and it transpired that she simply doesn't like JRPGs in general, and as a professional games journalist this personal preference had apparently never even occurred to her before.

That's not even to mention how, as Nayson says, her mere presence turns Garnett to an embarrassing pubescent, dribbling mess. It's obvious listening to it Jeff and Xav are cringing as hard as the rest of us, but unfortunately neither are cut out to step up and play the Brain Leahy / Luke Smith role of calling Garnett on his shit. It’s a shame Garnett doesn’t possess the self awareness realise how dependent he is on having this kind of character around to keep him in line, because with one he’s a fine presenter.

It sounds similar to how I felt about Gamerdork quite some time back and thought it was time to quit listening.

Plus, I missed Uzi too much :(

I still remember my first epidosde of Gamerdork. Uzi was waxing lyrical on Fallout 3, and I rushed out to buy it that very day, his excitable tones still repeating in my ears as I stepped aboard the bus to town. My first gaming podcast love. Please come back.

Took the words out of my mouth. Thinking about it, I can't really think of any female podcaster that hasn't made me cringe. Do you guys know anyone?

I’ve flirted with pretty much every game podcast available since owning an iPod, but I always come back to Giantbomb & Midlife gamer.

Giantbomb is probably one of the most consistent and entertaining Videogame Podcasts out there, and Midlife Gamer is a brilliant UK centric show, being far more in tune with me than the confused guests and opinions of Weekend Confirmed.

If you’ve not given those 2 a listen, I recommend you give them a try.

Uzi returns! :omg::wub:

Still some of my favourite podcasts are Gamerdork Uzi ones. That one where he reviews a hunting game always sticks with me.

P.S. Do I have a rare talent in recognising that the "Sean's question" theme music from Joypod is the same as the "which one is the best" jingle from Adam & Joe? Or is it actually really obvious?

Next week's Weekend Confirmed doesn't have Garnett on it, but to be fair they did call him out at the start of the show for the constant innuendos. Jeff Cannata is really good, and Xav is coming into his own as he gets more confident and will call Garnett out when he starts talking shite, but it needs a fourth chair with a different gaming perspective. I actually thought orthodontist who came on was pretty good, but it probably needs a stronger character along the lines of Shane or Luke. Overall though, it's still my go-to podcast on a weekly basis, along with One Life Left OF COURSE.

And talking of One Life Left, Ann Scantlebury fits the bill for a female gaming podcast presenter who doesn't want to make you stick screwdrivers in your ears.

My rather obscure/old examples would be Dana Jongewaard on the RadiOPM podcast, Jennifer Tsao on EGM Live and Jenn Frank on Retronauts. As for something more recent, I've liked Tina Sanchez whenever she's made guest appearances on the various podcasts I listen to. Also Scanters, as mentioned above. ^_^

Edit: Dare I say I also like the female cast members of The Geekbox.

I gave up on OLL when it went so far up its own arse over the whole one laugh left thing. 2 years ago it was a brilliant podcast. Not anymore.

I cant stand giantbomb and hated idle thumbs. Maybe I'm just too old for stupid american dicks and their attempts at "humour". I shall miss DC terribly, yes they were a bit hit and miss, but when they struck gold they were were the best gaming podcast out there.

Ive not heard of midlife gamer, but ill give it a try this week. My current gaming podcast listening list is weekend confirmed, dark zero, joypod, big red potion and the occasional gamerdork (a great listen but needs to be shorter each week).

Yeah, give thumbs another go. Although there are a tonne of injokes to scare away the first time listener, I've never heard more insightful discussion on a podcast. Plus the injokes are pretty funny once you're in on them. Funnier than 7/10 anyway.

Elaine and Leah from Some Other Podcast are very entertaining.

A NEW A LIFE WELL WASTED IS DOWNLOADING

Blimmin' heck, I just got really excited when a new episode of A Life Well Wasted appeared, but it seems to serve only as a plug for Robert Ashley's album :(

Fuck :(

I think various gaming forums should threaten him with giving this album one star reviews on iTunes, unless ...... he pulls his finger out and gets a new episode edited and out before the end of the month.

From what I hear, he's sitting on a wealth of interview material, some of which has been given to him after his appeal for this last episode. Was that like over 18 month ago?

He's like the Arrested Development of gaming podcasters. Only he's one man, not a huge ensemble cast with way higher salary demands than five years ago.

I too got quite excited when I saw a new A Life Well Wasted was downloading. Robert Ashley is usually very active on Twitter when a new episode is due out though and he said nothing at all about this, so to find out this is just a plug for his new album leaves me somewhat disappointed but not surprised. I'll give him a pass though, Dr Bobito Max Chill deserves a pass, if just for all the lulz he provided on GFW Radio.
