Generally I agree, but he had some strong opinions on the 1up yours reunion the other week.

Nintendo don't know what they're doing. The WiiU is going to fail!

I'm too scared to comment either way...

I know what you're saying. I don't agree with him but he made some pretty damn good points.

Don't care about Bromley, as annoying as he is and I really couldn't figure out what his real talents were that he brought to IGN, pretty much anyone could have wrote "comedy" to that standard. The truth is, annoyingly, he'll have no trouble ending up somewhere else.

Are the IGN UK team unaffected? I hope so, I really quite like those guys. :(

What, like you mean they have with Gamespy? Can't see that carrying on, or if it even is properly. I wonder how much the staff numbers at Gamespy went down by, since they bought them and brought them inside the same offices?

Doing this so soon is a clear sign they're trying to change them and in the long run, make them a minor or non-existent concern. You let a company exist at a separate office location, if you're at all serious about having them grow as themselves (by giving them extra funding than what they previously had) rather than being absorbed and diluted.

Given that Gamespy never got to do any video content (or at least not for very long or until their video staff got jobs elsewhere), can you really see whatever 1UP's direction for original video content continuing? Are they really going to win a battle against an entrenched IGN video dept that's in the habit of being the big dog in the room and getting its own way.

Are there any other websites in the last five or ten years that IGN bought, aside from 1UP, Gamespy or What They Play? Have these buyouts all been done just to make life easier for the ad sales team, or at least simplify their billing process?

Hey guys, Josh Miller from HookedGamers.com here. I'm a huge fan of IGN and their work, but with recent layoffs and activities surronding thier involvement with Gamespy and 1Up, I'm beginning to ascertain something of a distaste for NewsCorp. Anyways, for those that want editorial features, news, and discussion based podcast, come visit www.Hookedgamers.com

I admit, our podcast can be a bit off sometimes, but we just hit the 50th episode its certainly getting better. As far as our editorial feartures, articles, and news goes, I guarantee you that you'll always find the latest gaming news, as well as controversial and interesting articles.

A direct plug would have been nicer.

Hey guys, STE from ONELIFELEFT.com here. I'm a huge fan of N*SYNC and their work, AND REGARDLESS OF recent layoffs and activities surronding thier involvement with Gamespy and 1Up, I'm beginning to ascertain something of a distaste for NewsCorp BECAUSE JESUS FUCKING CHRIST THE SUN, FOX NEWS, SKY TELEVISION, MURDOCH, ALLEGED TAX EVASION (LEGAL PLEASE CHECK), ANTI-COMPETITIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES AND THE PART THEY PLAY IN SUBVERTING DEMOCRACY WORLDWIDE AND YEAH THERE WAS THAT ONE TIME THEY WERE WELL MEAN TO THOSE VIDEOGAME PODCASTS THEY BOUGHT. Anyways, for those that want editorial features, news, and discussion based podcast, come visit www.ONELIFELEFT.com

I admit, our RADIO SHOW can be a bit off sometimes, but we just hit the 145th episode its certainly STILL AROUND. As far as our editorial feartures, articles, and news goes, I guarantee you that you'll always find gaming news OF INDETERMINATE AGE, as well as "controversial" and "interesting" articles.

If Mr Byron's taking on David Bowie affectations, I don't know what the world's coming to.

Oh, I think it's a little more clear why Scott Bromely got laid off:

Given that he was supposed to be a community manager, that actually spent more time dicking about on video projects that weren't getting a justifiable amount of traffic, I guess IGN management decided to go with 1UP's Tina to run the whole of community. Plus a couple of low cost interns.
