What's wrong with Klepek, out of interest? He's pretty respected as a news-dude so I assume he has prior podcast form?

I only listened to the first ten minutes or so of the latest Bombcast but he didn't seem too offensive.

Yeah, I listened to the first half hour earlier and inoffensive is the exact word I was going to use. I remember him grating on me a little in the 1up days, but so many of those podcasts were alcohol fuelled.

I just don't want to dismiss him out of hand, given how self aware they are about the whole thing. There's a definite "the internet doesn't know if they like this, so this is your audition" vibe to it.

And he's definitely adding value to the site in his news role. I visit a number of times a day looking for quick-looks, maybe I'll actually start reading the articles...

Hey everyone, The Groovy Gamer Podcast has re launched with a new co host, Jenn Christodoulou (writer for Hyper and PC Powerplay magazines) joins me to bring a new voice to show.

Episode 1 - Sony Fan Girl is available on groovygamer.net and on Itunes

we also released an Episode bonus track which is 7 minutes of bloopers as we tried to record our first show together.

So, apparently 1up has been bought out by IGN.

I bet the usual thing will happen, they'll say 'both sites compliment each other well and will continue to function separately.' 6 months down the line 'we've decided to 'merge' 1UP with IGN.'

It's his past podcast form, yeah. He's always been rather loud and obnoxious, completely upsetting the balance of every podcast he featured in. You're right though, in that he hasn't been too bad early on in the Bombcast. Perhaps just settling in? Or perhaps he's calmed down since the 1up days.

Time will tell.

I don't think the Leigh Alexander backlash has gone unnoticed by the Giant Bomb team. They all know that if Klepek starts acting like an obnoxious douche the fans will kick off... Bringing him in for news coverage on the site is a great idea though, it's just what GB needed.

I love the Debriefings. My favourite podcast :wub:

I sent them a box of sweets and biscuits from Ireland yesterday. I hope they like them! They won't have them by the time they record this weeks show, but hopefully next week.

After this weeks episode I hope those biscuits were poison creams.

Jesus the Gamespy Debriefings is terrible. Why do those two unfunny people think they are the shit? And then they rip into their fans for being unfunny to top it off. Is it some sort of meta thing that I'm just not getting?

After this weeks episode I hope those biscuits were poison creams.

Well, yes and no. Bromley and whoever are clearly both massive, massive self indulgent cunts. But Anthony and Ryan are both genuinely nice guys, and it's often worth enduring the other guys dribble to hear their take on things.

Exactly. Thankfully mp3 players don't force you to listen to every second of the podcast. If they did, I'd have unsubscribed ages ago.

All I'm finding time for at the moment is GamerDork, Joypod, and the occasional Weekend Confirmed. I sometimes squeeze in a Gamers with Jobs.

For some reason I've totally had it with most of the "affiliated" or "commercial" American podcasts. I used to really like Bombcast, Debriefings etc. but I'll give it a few months before dipping back in.

It always makes me giggle how many people I see "suffer" the Debrief. Even after stating clearly their dislike for it, or how much they hate Bromley.

It's just that....those guys are complete assholes. If I'm not mistaken there has been a "it gets better after high-school" discussion on the debriefings before, in response to some poor kid's letter. Yet Bromley and Bromley 2 are perpetually stuck in 16 year old douche mode. I'm 25 and was never bullied, but that kind of discussion strikes a chord with me for some reason. And when those two go off on a "videogames are boring, lets talk about irresponsible drug use" rant or whatever....ugh.

I've been a fan of Retronauts for a long time but I had to stop listening after a couple of episodes of the new format. I'm just completely unable to cope with any podcast in which members of the audience get a chance to open their mouths live on air. To be fair, they're not always complete idiots but it only takes one or two to ruin my enjoyment of the show.

Sharkey certainly won't stand for it, but it's early days in the merger so we'll have to put up with these crossovers. At least we didn't get the Bromley/Miller 'wacky' duo of doom on Retronauts yet.

I stopped listening to their show a while ago due to the grating, transatlantic, Friends-influenced crap that comes out of the beardy one's mouth but, listening to the Digital Cowboys on this weeks Gamerdork reminded me of how concerning the sensible one of the pair's speech is. He often gets muddled saying simple words and he slurs quite a bit. I think he needs to visit a doctor. I'm not sure i'll even be able to finish this episode of Gamerdork, actually - it does seem to really dip in quality when they have any guests on.

Having recently been re-listening to Idle Thumbs sequentially, I really think this thread's subtitle needs to be amended. It says a lot that I'm listening to 2-year-old shows featuring conversations with more depth and relevance than any of my contemporary podcasts.

It's also sort of depressing.
