I liked the 1UP retrospective podcast, but can't wait for the ones for the next two years. The Shane/Luke rivalry got pretty funny after a while, with Luke getting the forums to look up podcast numbers and timestamps for Shanes previous comments about how he had personal guarantees that PS3 Exclusive X would never go multiplatform, whenever it quite frequently happened...

I also thought the microtransaction stuff was amusing, they're talking about these things called consumables, which are basically what all Facebook social games and F2P MMOs now use, as if they're the death of gaming. What a difference four years makes.

And people don't like John Davidson? In retrospect he was the only sane one in regards to the Wii.

Oh man, listening to the 1Up Yours 2006 retrospective and I'm less than 10 minutes in and I wish they still did a podcast together. Those four still are, in my opinion, the best podcast chemistry ever. RIP the good 1Up Yours (again).

Yep. Say what you like about Garnett's wacky opinions from time to time, but the man knows how to run a podcast.

Do they have any conflicting personalities on that show yet?

The earlier episodes were all too much of "I agree", "good point" etc. If there's one thing the 1UP podcasts of old did great was good old fashioned rivalry and arguments.

Listening to the latest Weekend Confirmed right now. Agree completely on Bulletstorm, and I'm really excited to hear about Deus Ex, The Witcher 2 etc. Definitely my favourite gaming podcast these days.

Yeah, before the last few shows they seemed to want to be the new 1up yours and it seemed a bit stupid. These days they seem a hell of a lot more relaxed and just want to chat about games, which is what made 1up 1up in the first place.

IDLE THUMBS RETURNS (kinda)

They appeared on a Giant Bomb Live appearance.

Unfortunately though it misses out the start where Remo played Space Asshole, hopefully it'll all appear in the podcast in full.

Bad news though, you see the guy on the left? That's Patrick Klepeck. According to the guys on the Thumbs forum he basically did a Leigh Alexander. :facepalm: Games journalists and alcohol don't mix.

Anyone who's heard Klepeck on 1UP Yours will know to steer clear of that. Loud, shouty prick wh is a bit up his own arse. I'd hate to hear how much more unbearable he is when drunk.

Oh, and it looks like Retronauts might be coming back for good thanks to the popularity of the recent two Zelda call-in episodes, they are doing a Pokemon one on Friday http://www.1up.com/news/retronauts-catch-friday :)

Really? Fuck, that explains a lot. He must be constantly jet-lagged from his accent wavering between West coast cool dude and English gent.

On a positive (yes, I am capable) note, an all male Geekbox this week. I've only just started listening to this episode but it's so much more gentle on the ears.

Seriously? When the girls aren't on all that happens is that they drone on and on about some ludicrous superhero minutia for an hour. And Ryan Higgins is allowed to talk absolute bollocks even more than usual. The girls are the only ones who can keep that podcast on track.
