Nes Plug

Just a quick question:  I bought a boxed NES at the weekend and it looks brand new (baggies, twisty ties etc), however there is no plug on the AC Adaptor and the wires look un-touched.  So is it new?  And was it sold this way?

Thanks

I dunno mate, but what I do know is, that when these were released, it was common that electrical goods didn't have plugs on the end. So, chances are, yeah it's new

Blimey, that brings back memories. No, the NES did not come with a plug, you had to buy one and fix it yourself. So that sounds very new to me. Later releases might have come with one though.

That seems strange to get an electrical item without a plug. I'm too young to remember that- but why didn't they just slap a plug on the end? :D

To save costs. It was only when the law was changed that made all electrical items have a plug fitted that every item you now buy has one.

Too many people were killed or injured due to plugs being incorrectly fitted.
