Hi alllll!

Just killed Omen! It felt really nice. Maybe he doesn't drop epics, but getting 10 completely random pug people together (the two facts are tied - my guild has no interest in achievements at all), some of them not even 80, and managing to pull it off in one shot is pretty nice I think. We had a 69 priest with us with a ridiculously low amount of HP and they kept dying to starfall instantly, but still kept running back for more. Aw

Unless something changed in the last few hours, they can and whoever you're talking to is mistaken. The only issue would be idiots who forget to turn Phase Shift off their Imp while buffing, otherwise that's it. A Felhunter's Fel Intelligence offers a combined, poor man's Int and Spirit buff but the Mage and Priest versions of each will overwrite them.

Warlock Pets :- since when could they not be buffed with Mage INT and Priest STA buffs??? (I have someone moaning about something one of my mods does and I cancelled my account so i can't test it  )

I buffed one of the Muk locks pet with stam in a 5 man 2 days ago, maybe it's the Imp you have never been able to buff them when they are phase shifted.

HATE levelling a priest. Level 31 and all I do is die. I think i'll just use my lock to do the quests in a group.

I found it easy, but quite slow compared to mage (as shadow Priest).

I can't decide if I like Death Knights or not ;)

Healing BRD I got so fed up with the hunter pulling aggro I let him tank for a while, then I had to heal the actual tank and the hunter died. Then I ressed him and told him not to pull aggro. Was that too mean? I felt kinda bad about it afterwards cos I could've carried his ass through there fine, but surely by level 50 you should know how tanks and threat work in instances, right?

Not mean at all! Teach 'em young! By 80 you'll be ignoring the nabs who pull aggro and continue to hit things in the face because the actual tank may very well die if you divert attention too long. Not to mention hunters can feign! Pfft!

When people do that 'on my watch' and I tell them off for continuing to hit it, they're like "I wasn't", and I'm thinking, I could see you slashing it with your massive two hander you stupid warrior. Mostly people only focus on the damage meters and don't care how difficult they make life for anyone else!

Even if he's using the vanilla interface, it still gives you a warning on your threat now, so he has no excuse. Not too harsh at all, some people need a bit of a kick upi the arse sometimes before they learn anything.

So i just had my first crack at a 25 man raid. It was a pug for VoA. I still cant remember what VoA stands for, but after hearing its supposed to be easy I thought I may as well have a crack. Went not really expecting much, just to go and hopefully get and achievement and a few emblems. I didnt even consider that I would be lucky enough to get my tier pieces drop.

Anyway, I get there and the raid is pretty much full now, just a healer needed. I sit down to eat the Mega Mammoth Meal which I just cooked (this was while I was trying to quickly think what I should bring to not make myself look like such a noob) and while stragglers are being summoned I have a quick read on what do do. Sounds easy enough from a hunter dps point of view - stay away from everything and hit him as much as possible. We get to the first trash mob....and I disconnect. After what seems like as aaaaaaage, I manage to get back on. They are standing right in front of him. People keep saying things that I dont understand. I get a bit worried. Then the MT charges in and I just about catch who he is in time to throw a misdirect on him. Lots of people start running around. I start running around too, but in my defence he does seem to be throwing things at me. I get the knack of doing my shot rotations pretty quickly, though I do wish I'd had the time to get some hit rating food as i do miss occasionally. We get him to 20%, its all going smoothly. Then I disconnect again. Thankfully I get back on quickly this time, with enough left to hammer the Kill Shot button and get a 9k crit, which pleases me. He dies. The dps meter get put up and I've done ok. Better than one hunter there, but less than the other. The guy who invited me (who i told I'd never done this before so may be rubbish) whispers to say I've done well. I smile a little inside.

Then the loot comes. I gingerly look at the corpse thinking "what if?" which then becomes an "OH YEAH!" when there are not 1 but 2 pieces of hunter tier 7. The 3 of us roll for the first one. I get 25. The winner gets 100. Dissapointed, I realise that he's getting the legs, which is the one i didnt want so much. Next up its the chest. Me and the other hunter roll. He gets 65. I get 95. Everyone, including the losing hunter, is very nice about it and whispers congratulations. Its times like these when I realise why I like this game so much.

Can you explain the bold stuff?

I also still don't get how you're meant to know what Tier stuff is

Trash Mob - everything in an instance that isn't a boss or a critter.

MT - Main tank

Misdirect - Hunter skill which redirects the threat from the hunter's next couple of shots onto whoever he chooses. So you misdirect onto the tank and he gets free threat. Or you Misdirect onto whoever has been pissing you off and laugh as he get's splattered.

Throwing things at you - when something throws things at you.

Hit Rating food - food which when consumed gives you a +hit buff.

Tier gear - you know by virtue of where it drops and what it looks like!

trash: mobs between bosses. They don't drop anything interesting and generally aren't very hard to kill.

MT: Main tank. This is the nutter who is meant to take all the damage.

Misdirect: A hunter ability that transfers threat to another character. Usually used on the MT to give him a head start.

he does seem to be throwing things at me: I think he's saying the boss is dealing damage to him. Most bosses have abilities that can do damage to the raid. Usually you have to move to a different spot to avoid it, sometimes it just has to be healed through.

hit rating food: Some foods give buffs. In this case hit rating. There is a type of food for just about every stat (most give stamina as well)

Tier: See http://www.wowhead.com/?itemsets&filter=cl=8#0+1-2 for a list of mage sets. You can see tags saying which tier they are.

Trash = name given to enemies in dungeons that are just your average enemies, or mobs. They aren't bosses basically, you can get them in packs, sometimes they'll be single mobs with a bit more health than those in a group.

MT = main tank.. the guy who's soaking up the hits from the big nasties.

Misdirect = a hunter ability. If you cast misdirect on the tank and start shooting at the enemy, then you are generating threat for the tank with your shots. I think.

Hit rating food = food that you can usually cook can give you different 'buffs' - the one he's talking about will improve his +hit rating, which means he will hit the enemy more often. There's a hit cap so in theory you don't miss if you reach it. Other food buffs might give you spell damage, or strength, or stamina.

Tier stuff = usually it's set items, like it all has the same name, looks the same style. As to what tier it specifically is, mostly it's just people know it from being around when that tier was, but for newer things, more stats on set items usually means it's a new tier. As an example.. Tier 1 came from Molten Core, 2 from Blackwing Lair, 3 from Naxxramas the first time round, 4 from Karazhan, 5 from Serpentshrine Cavern/Tempest Keep, 6 from Black Temple and now we have 7 from the main raiding instances of now - Naxxramas and the Vault of Archavon.

Hope that helps!

Also threat can be read as 'aggro' or 'hate'. It means who has the enemy's attention. Tanks have to deal a certain amount of aggro/threat to keep the enemy focused on them, whilst everyone else has to be careful to avoid going above this level which would piss the enemy off and they would then run over and twat you in the face. In later dungeons, most enemies will kill non-tanks in 1-2 hits.

Nitpicking maybe but I find people don't define aggro like threat. Threat is a value and aggro is binary - you either have aggro or not. Threat determines whether you have aggro or not.

You could have just said each teir stuff is a set named piece (e.g. Arcanist )

I seem to generate too much threat atm. Due to being an AoE damage machine

There are sets which aren't tier pieces, animists set from ZG for instance, or the Steelweave set, or the dungeon blues from TBC.
