the Blazing Emblem is great for FR stuff

People charge over 300g for that on Alliance ER, ^%&$ that!

The last time I visited Raggy I found myself unequipping resist gear and just using fire resist pots. We haven't killed him yet but it seems Raggy is about 80% positioning.

Melees will need good resist and of course your MT but ranged classes seem to be able to get away with a surprisingly small amount. As a Mage the only fights I make concessions to fire resist is Ony and Raggy. The other fights I just keep outside the 30 yard AoE range of mobs.

Loads of + Damage items are both + Damage and Healing.  That doesn't mean a class that can heal should get it over any other caster.

A Priest/Mage/Warlock would get just as much, if not more use out of it than a  Shaman.

There is no such thing as +damage without healing unless it's to one school.

I'm not disputing the fact that its really good for a shaman, but i think your guild was pretty stupid to let you have it over a mage/warlock, especially since you're all quite new to MC and every upgrade means a little more at the moment. It means that you don't get the full potential from it like you would if it had gone to one of them.

Priests who want this are retarded, as they get Benediction.

Using it for healing only is a waste because its an offensive caster staff, its +damage. +healing only stuff is always much higher...

I suppose its just regarded as common sense that certain classes get priority over certain items. That Aurastone was passed on as well really makes me wonder...

Aurastone/Malistars (or even an offhand...) is the ideal MC combo, assuming you don't have spec for Finkle's Lava Dredger. Shaman can use shields and other classes can't.

Finally, you can get +55healing/22int/20spirit on one handers, and +9sta or spirit to the shield. not to mention the 2 or 3k armour you gain.

A case of being blinded by the purple light I think. Sadly at the cost of being detrimental to the others in the guild/raid.

Still, never mind, its done now. get +55healing on it and a little while down the line when you're disenchanting them because you have so many, no one will care.

The staff pisses all over The Lava dredger tho imo

Id like it, but im very happy with my aurastone hammer, just need to some cash for an enchant.

Please may I have a short rant, and maybe some advice for mages:

When someone is about to loot a boss, please don't throw a portal to a capital city RIGHT UNDERNEATH HIS CURSOR THE SECOND HE RIGHT CLICKS so that when that someone tries to loot some shadowcraft pants they don't accidentally suddenly end up in fugging Orgrimmar,

Good advice... though now you've made me realise it's possible to do that, one to remember for when we get a very annoying person in the group... and to TB not Org...

I've been after a 2 hander that adds a silly amount to both Spirit and Intellect for a long time. The Lava Dredger, although nice, has no Spirit on it, and no +damage or healing. Sure, there are staffs out there that add more to healing, but the stats on those are gimped beyond belief. In MC I need the extra mana the staff of dominance gives to keep people up, and thats why I went for it, not just because it was an epic. I could have easily had the Aurastone Hammer instead of Sith if that were the case, but I knew I needed more mana and more +healing, so I passed on it (yes, I had the most DKP, and passed).

Saying I wont get the full use out of it is just silly, as I can do both healing and do spell damage being a shaman. I may be fully resto specced, but I do throw the odd shock and lightning bolt now and then. My guild is fully aware of that, and allowed me to have it, even though other classes wanted it, and just 2 people spoke up over it in the entire 40 man raid, both mages I think. Other people (warlocks, druids and priests) who wanted it whispered me saying it couldnt have gone to a more deserving person, which made me happy that they understood why I went for it. For the way I play, the staff is end game material for me, and its not like it'll never drop again either.

Exactly. But as a shaman you know you'll instantly piss off casters by taking something they can use when you could take something they can't. You'll have a fucking blast with it tbh and it is wicked. Saying that Finkle's doesn't have spirit is a bit of a moot point, because mana/5 is much more useful for shaman (works while casting). Priests get more benefit from spirit, especially for being innervated etc.

You were the one who said you'd only use it for healing, and if you do that you aren't using it to the full potential. It doesn't matter too much though, its like arguing over who could use a burger more.

It is funny that you let the Rod of the Ogre Magi get dissed though when it's a mini SoD.

Regardless of the theoretical arguments for and against, you have it now, and gratz, its a great staff!

Warlocks do rock, especially if you know how to play them.

But hitting someone for 6k is stupid, from any class. The PvP in WoW is in real danger of becoming about who gets the first and only strike in.

I'd rather see more tactical fights where player A uses spell X and player B has ability Y to counter it etc

Talking about PvP. Am I the only 1 that wants to see more outdoor PvP action? For some reason BGs just leave me cold

What an awesome day for me. First got my [Hide of the Wild] made after spending the past 2 days farming and gathering the materials from drops, the Auction House, and most of all from generous guildmembers, then went to Zul Gurrub and won the Zulian Defender off the bat boss. To add icing on the cake the guild bank had a Libram of Focus to give me after I've been looking for one for about a month to no success. Awesome :o

I think I agree, though I've not done much battlegrounding.

There's that whole thing about how we're supposed to be at war with the Alliance, but it doesn't make sense that the war is mostly about stealing flags.

I'd kind of like to see more attacks on cities, if only because it'd make it feel more like a, you know, world of war(craft). But then I suppose that's what I get for being on a PVE server and not PvP, it's never going to feel that much like the Alliance are our enemies at war. More just a bunch of c--ts who get in our way from time to time. It'd be really fun to properly raid Ironforge or Stormwind. Does that sort of thing ever happen? Could a properly organised 40 man group kill Thrall (I imagine they'd have to do it at 4am to avoid too many real players getting in the way)?

It'd be kinda cool if it worked a bit like Risk, in that territories can be attacked and thusly controlled - but territories in the overworld. Not that they should ever be able to take over somewhere like orgrimmar but smaller places like, say, Taurajo. Like you might have to get the horde to control an area to buy a pattern, or get a quest, or whatever. In other words a bit like arathi basin but with more point and significance to the general realm.

Tarren Mill battles always felt a lot more fun than battlegrounds (to me) because they felt a bit more in the spirit of the game, and I liked the way everyone would muck in, whatever the level. It's just a shame that you can't really hope to get a decent rank from worldly pvp alone, at least through normal play.

It's possible. But noone ever tries anymore, thanks to dishonorable kills.

There have been some hints that there might be some more meaningful world pvp when they add outlands, so we can still hope (and with it being a totally new area, they have the perfect chance to design it to work ok with areas changing hands fromone side to the other, which would require a hell of a lot of effort to retro-fit to the existing world).

But yeah, less CTF, more (meaningful) world pvp plzkthx.

Last time we tried raiding Ironforge, C, we broke the server. 120 of us got as far as the AH before everything ground to a halt amid a barrage of AoE and guard spawns. When I was finally able to login again, I found myself on a road a couple of miles down the road and with an angry Alliance mob approaching with pitchforks and the like. I took a leaf out of the Paladin's Combat book and hearthed the Hell out of there with indecent haste...

That said, it was fun up to the point everything died and seeing everyone on their mounts charging through the Searing Gorge entrance to the dwarf area and uptowards the heart of their lands was quite a sight. I keep meaning to see if we can arrange another stab at it sometime, a smaller raid at the crack of dawn when all the Alliance kiddies are tucked up in bed (7pm on a Saturday was a bad bad bad bad baaaaaad idea)

Aye, the last time the Horde came to Stormwind the lag was beyond a joke. It was absolutely unplayable, it would take 1 whole minute or more before an instant cast spell would register.

As Arhra said DKs have screwed outdoor raids up. There is always some idiot that will get you DKs.

Talking to real life friends that play on PvP they want more outdoor PvP as well. Even on PvP servers the real action is in the BGS, thats where people "farm" their honour, their faction rep etc I'm sure you can still find PvP outside but nothing compared to pre BG days.

there is a bit, dunno wether your experienced with pvp servers as opposed to EArthen ring or wahtever. but the alliance cant waltz up to XR wiht pvp off, amass a force put pvp on and attack like they can / do on PVE servers so there is a lot more risk for them to do so which means they whore the BG instead

I know I'm somewhat out of the loop, but I guess this means there's no more nightly chaos at Crossroads?

I used to rather enjoy that :P

No, it's still regular as clockwork - Kaini mentioned getting something like 71 valid kills alone in a little over an hour the other night. So you still have that to look forward to on your return.
