As stated previously, you pretentious cock, The original Star Wars trilogy, is infinitely better than anything ol Joss has come out with. This is about the original trilogy. Its not even worth arguing.

PS You're never gonna be a mod! Give it up!

Have you seen Serenity?

Would that be the original trilogy, or the original trilogy that Lucas has reedited, inserted unnecessary and blatant shite? Because he won't let his own fans watch the original films and they thank him for it.

Its not even worth arguing.

I'm glad to see that "I'm right" and "all those who disagree are sycophants" are still the arguments of choice on the internet.

Of course, I don't believe that Serenity is a better film than the original Star Wars trilogy, and I don't think that it even makes sense to compare the Firefly series to the Star Wars films. I'm just pointing out that you're being a petulant mong.

For the record, I've not really liked any of Whedon's output to this day. I have a very strong dislike for Buffy and Angel, it's horrible dialogue and terrible plots.

But...

Firefly is completely different. Completely. Gone are the awful characters. Gone is the atrocious "witty" dialogue. Gone are the terrible stories.

In it's place we have a decent set of characters you actually give a shit about. A story that is actually worth getting into. A world that is pretty unique and interesting to get lost in. And dialogue that is actually funny without resorting to cheap shit, "clever" throw away one liners.

Serenity is a cracking piece of sci-fi action that stands alone and also as part of the series mythos.

And, I was there when Star Wars came out and remember seeing all three at the cinema. Excellent stuff they were. But, they're not the be all and end all of films or even sci-fi. They're a mish mash of Lucas' influences and stories that he saw as a kid, all rolled into one very good trilogy of films.

That's all. Were they revolutionary? I'm not so sure they were looking back on them now. What exact influence did they have on subsequent films? Yes, we got a load of shit me-too sci-fi pap (Battle beyond the Stars and Battlestar Galactica spring to mind) but in terms of sci-fi trend setting, they didn't really do that much. Blade Runner and Aliens had much more impact on the sci-fi landscape, but that's another discussion.

So, in summation... They're all good.

What the jeff does that even mean?

The movie and the videogame rose at the same time and fed from each other.

Older generations cannot fathom the orignal SW Trilogy OR Retro.

Yeah anyone around the 30 age can.

It was the period many of them will tell you as 'the best of their life' as thus so many of them are driven by this nostaglic feeling and as a result...retro has a large following.

Retro also applies to the Megadrive and SNES generations too - but the sci-fi movie's intial impact was long dead by that time.

The feelings of excitement and progress generated during that period was huge.

And my belief is simply that that excitement generated during a revolution is far greater then after it settles.
