So many lovely little touches. Here's one that stood out for me, near the beginning:

When you're covered in soot from the fire, and walking back, you can take a quick dip in the spring. Doing so means that when you exit the spring, the body of yourself and your companion is clean, whilst your face remains sooty.

So far...

The graphics are outstanding, superb animation and sooo many little touches. I know it's only a little thing but the mirrors actually work!

The music is some of the best I have ever heard in a game, and it's 'REZ/Space Invaders Extreme'-d up during battle with extra instruments and notes coming in with your rhythmic presses.

The dialog is charming, funny and ridiculously polished. Hats off to the translation team.

What were Nintendo thinking not releasing this in the West.

...Nintendo will be absolutely fucking kicking themselves up the arse whenever the universal response to Mother 3 is "THIS GAME IS FUCKING BRILLIANT" upon release of the translation.

They'd be more likely to respond with a shrug and a yawn as they did previously when Mother 1's western release was halted.

Good to see some fans of the series are determined that western gamers shouldn't miss out.

...here stands a thread for a game thousands have been waiting for and are stupendously excited about, yet its all thanks to a small team of people who have slaved over the best part of the past two years to do something purely for the fans...

GOW 2 will sell millions and bring in a lot of cash though. A lot more than Mother 3 ever could sadly.

This game would sell a handful of copies for a console format Nintendo has already layed to rest.

Had the GBA Micro reignited hardware sales then it's possible Nintendo would have had to release Mother 3 to keep interest and sales up.

What were Nintendo thinking not releasing this in the West?

They weren't. It's odd to see Lucas from Mother 3 in SSBB. It's like a bizarre form of taunting.

Kotaku has a link to the Insert Credit review of this game up. Still makes for good reading:

Boo, my Micro ran out of juice just as I got to some

Half-robot half-moose

beast.

For the rhythmic attacks, when it says '[your character] attacks' in battle and pauses on that screen, start pressing A in time with the music. (Well that's what I've worked out anyway, could be completely wrong mind.)

Where was my sodding email eh?? I bet it went straight to the junk folder actually, dang...

What's this about translating Mother 2: Earthbound? I guess they mean the Mother 1+2 GBA combo version...they want it on a handheld. Pfft, i'd put your feet up lads... :D

You need to SRAM patch it.

[The science]

GBA games can use a lot of different save types, SRAM, FLASH MEMORY, etc. Flashcarts only support SRAM, so every game that uses something else needs to be patched to use SRAM instead.

[How]

Use a utility called GBTA.

Already done that. In game it appears to save correctly. When I reset the GBA it doesn't give me an option to continue the game.

Flub: Supercard CF you say? SRAM patch it with GBATA and then patch it again with the Supercard program.

Done that already but one question. When I patch it with the Supercard software which options do I need to use. There are about 8 trillion related to saves.

Bah, this is virtually unplayable on an emulator! God this would be so much better if a had a flash card. Anybody got some good recommendations on those or on some programs to put the damn game on?

EDIT: very lovely game though :D

EZ flash is what I ordered today.

Going to use with a DSTT

Enable save, enable more saver, enable saver patch, enable real time save, enable more real time saver.

Which isn't very helpful and considering how long it takes to test if your save works it's not really practical guessing.

Blu3Flame: Slot 1 flash card? 3 in 1? Where can i get these ?

Slot 1 flash card (Such as the DSTT) = Device which allows you to play DS games and DS homebrew only. Same size as a regular DS cartridge, with a slot for a MicroSD card which you fill with your files.

3-in-1 = Device which goes in to the GBA slot on the DS and gives you Rumble/Extra RAM(For Opera) and lets you play GBA games. Games are loaded onto this via the Slot 1 flash card.

Or if you want to play the game on a GBA, then you will need a GBA flashcart. (Such as a EZFlash IV)

Flub: Did you patch it with GBATA as well (before the Supercard program). If so then I'm out of answers for now, best to wait for the proper compatibility lists to appear.

Lorfarius: Yes.

Narcissus: I agree, any more flashcart related stuff this way please:

Anyoen able to run this on a PSP? I've managed to get my hands on a ROM and run the patch which all works fine. But when it comes to running it on the PSP it all falls apart. Ive tried GPSP and PSPVBA, dropping the ROM into the Game section and ROM folder but in both cases it refuses to load the game.
