Final Fantasy Iii (nds)

Actually, I do recommend the translated NES ROM. It is a much better game than either of the other two NES FF', and basically the core of modern FF is in place by this stage, minus ATB.

Rock hard in parts, but if you've played any of the SNES FF's, you'll be surprised at the simalirty with FF.

DS version does indeed look nice.

FF3, from what I've gathered had a bit of a shit story, involving some orphans finding some crystals, and setting off on a journey, or some such.

It has never been released outside of Japan though, so I doubt many people here will have played it before.

Indeed, it's the only one I haven't played.

It looks lully. :)

FF6. Remade in 3D. On the DS.

Such things are too good too exist in this world.

Hang on, I'm getting confused now. This is FF3 remade in 3D on the DS, not FF6 (which was called FF3 in the US). Either way it looks ace, the only problem is I said I wouldn't get a DS.

Looks like Akihiko Yoshida of FF Tactics, Vagrant Story and FFXII fame has done the character design. Smart.

.::: Indeed. But that might be because I'm getting slightly annoyed by Nomura's designs. We had too much of them and I'm getting tired.

I think you're on about FFII. That's about some children, orphaned by war.

.::: Oh yes, I prefer Amano as well. As for Nomura... I don't know for sure. I loved it back in the VII days, but I think it's a bit too stuck to VII to see it seperate.

It's also not that Nomura designs to make creations fit the game. It's rather the game that gets adapted to his style and there's no discussion about it. Take KHII's Setzer for instance. It might work, but it's a travesty in my eyes for the original character.

I can't stand any of Nomura's designs - it's all spikey hair and big trousers to me. Oh, and belts. Amano's stuff on the other hand is refreshingly unique.

Actually, this new FFIII (along with Crystal Chronicles) is looking like what I always imagined the Final Fantasy games should look like.

Dang, those screens remind me of Golden Sun. That game looked só amazing (at the time at least, and it had a great commercial) and I think this RPG is the big adventure gamers need. I can't wait, even though I don't like traditional RPG's.

Don't like Amano's stuff myself - it's all a bit washy and indistinct. Plus he only knows how to draw one character (whether it's male or female). It always amused me in the earlier FFs how his delicate designs just ended up as little pixelly blobs.

The screens on the left always looked like the ones on the right in my head anyway, so I probably wouldn't notice a difference after playing for 5 minutes.

o/\o Similarly, when I played FF1, I didnt hear the plinky midi battle music - I heard this
