Madness that so many people were ordering 4 at a time, wont someone think of the children!

I would have preferred Saturday. But seeing as I could only get Two tickets for the Sunday that'll do.

Sunday will be more bonkers due to everyone being off all day. Only downside.. they might be tight on the Curfew :(

Support announced:

June 29 - Primal Scream, The Wailers, The Vaccines and Kid British.

June 30 - Beady Eye, The Wailers, Professor Green and Hollie Cook.

July 1 - Plan B, The Wailers, The Justice Tonight Band and Dirty North.

Primal Scream for me which I'm pleased with considering the options. Haven't seen them since 2001 (about the last time they released anything decent) so it'll fuel the nostalgia trip that little bit more.

That does look like the best of the bunch. But nothing decent since 2001? Even if you didn't like their electro-rock* phase, Riot City Blues was still awesome.

*the music press was calling it that, not me!

Evil Heat had a couple of tracks I didn't mind but that's about as far as I go I think. To be honest although I liked Screamadelica back in the 90s it's dated horrifically, the only albums of theirs I think really stand up are Vanishing Point and XTRMNTR (and even they have their dodgy moments). Still looking forward to seeing them again though.

Even though Blur were the band that got me into music the Roses were the first band I liked retrospectively and so begat the last 15 years of music geekdom and obsession. I never thought that after all this time that my favourite song of theirs (apart from Resurrection) would turn out to be Standing Here.

For me it's Ian Browns best performance, he sounds great rubbing off the 7th chords and i love the Hendrix style rhythm guitar. And the groove. Why are so few rock bands able to play like this any, more?

They've always been poor live though.

Yeah, I read a review in one of the papers but I meant anyone from here ;). The music press gumph was always going to be predictable but I'd be interested in other viewpoints. Sounds like the wind was an issue which IIRC was a big problem at Spike Island as well.

i got back late last night - it was absolutely outstanding - amazing crowd, visuals, atmosphere - a bit windy though which distorted the sound a bit at the back, and the bar queues were a fucking nightmare

definitely my best gig ever - i was waiting to be disappointed, after all the build-up and having wanted to see them live for over 20 years since i first started listening to their music, but i wasn't disappointed at all - far from it

i'm not sure how tonight and Sunday night will compare, but last night (Friday) definitely had the better support with Primal Scream

So

Had time to digest and think about it. Overall it was very enjoyable.

Must have heard Brown about 20% of the time, the rest it was Roses karaoke.

There was the usual issue of people unable to rein themselves in, we had one guy near us bellowing evey song like a wounded bull and

another group who just engaged Bez mode as soon as the music started and were constantly bumping into us and being a pain in the arse.

I think the problem is my ever increasing misanthropy, might not be suited to big gigs anymore.

That aside brilliant.

Clearly John Squire had made his return conditional on adding a 5 minute guitar solo to each song, which was fine, I think I enjoyed the

long noodly bits more because you could actually hear them. Also a bit Disappointed that the band didn't speak to the crowd and Brown barely said anything.

We didn't even try to go to the bar, queues way too long. Probably too many people there for the size of the venue.

Stand out moments were Adored, Sally Cinnamon and This is the One. Plus obviously Fools gold and Resurrection.

Can't believe brown sang the backwards lyrics, or that he did a rap, that was a bit wtf?

People were leaving during I am the resurrection. This is, in all likelihood, the last time you'll ever hear this played live, and you are leaving to beat the rush. Good priorities.

It was a fecking long walk back to town, must have taken about an hour and a quarter before we got to a pint, which we were too knackered to

enjoy so then spent another half hour trying to find a cab.

I saw them playing in a tent on Glasgow Green back in the day, no wind and they were fucking awful live. A great band, just not a great live band.

I did the Sunday show, Supports were a mixture of great and shit.

- Dirty North were really quite good for a three piece and the stage they had to fill.

- Justice Tonight Band are always good. Get on the groovy train :)

- The Wailers ( whatever iteration they were ) we very flat and boring and didnt do bobs words justice, and this was according to my mate whos a rastafarian. He was right though, not very lively uppy at all.

- Plan B is just a shit front man. But come now, His backing band and Optimus Prime the Bbox lad were outstanding. Dunno why they had so much background crap and costume changes though. And who else saw Rio Ferdinand stage right?

- The Stone Roses were as expected, and were almost there musically.

Reni was bloody brilliant, i dont think he missed a beat all night.

I thought Ian Brown was about to burst in to a solo song at the end  he just stood there staring at everyone.

all in all, very good day out. And if you stuck to Coffee and Tea / Pork Baps there WAS NO BAR PROBLEM ;)

mind you i drunk enough beer in the town center on the way in.

One thing though, Golden Circle wristbands are fucking shite. I had one anyway so no problem.

but they are still shite, even if it ( perhaps ) stops people getting crushed. - if you ask me, its a tactic to get numbers into the grounds as soon as possible.

Went to the Finsbury park show last night.

Barring IATR, which was sung COMPLETELY out of tune, it was fantastic. I did notice that the crowd were either "mad fer it" twats who should have grown up by now rather than fighting, and also, about 1 in 3 people were drug dealers. Otherwise, it was all good. Reni is still King.

I almost don't want this to go anywhere. "One Love" was the beginning of the end, "Love Spreads" and the album that followed was just fucking horrible.

Then the absolutely brilliant "Made In Stone" by Shane Meadows put the Roses back on-form again. New material could go either way here. I'm hoping it ends up being "something completely different" if it has to exist.
