I don't think you can. You can get them on Amazon in 256kbps MP3 format for 69p per track though.

EXCELLENT! :omg:

Also - the Blackpool 1989 gig is on BBC4 tonight at 12.30.

Yeah some sort on Madchester night. Is the documentary on before the gig the one they have shown before?

Listened to the remastered album. Anybody else notice they seem to have turned the bass up quite a lot?

Nah I'm not sure I did. I always thought of the bass being fairly prominent. Will look out next time I listen.

I had read a number of reviews of the album saying the remastering hadn't had a mssive effect. Well I donwnloaded the album from amazon and gave it a listen on my new headphones (Ultimate Ears 700) and i thought there was certainly much more clarity to the album. really enjoyed it. The B sides are also great (except the backwards stuff which is merely okay). Demos are pointless but not as bad as I was expecting.

Just had a couple of listens to the remaster and the bass is far more powerful than the original. Not sure about the 10th aniversary remaster version. I suspect I've never heard that so not sure if there's a leap in sound from that version.

I've had it in my car and at volume 8 on my system (i think it goes to 20 or so) it is very powerful. The original issue needs to be set at about 11 or 12 to get the same sound levels.

Ironically this change might not suit everyone as the jangly, trebly sound of the original release seemed to suit the style of music.

Listening again now. I can't decide whether the bass is louder or if it appears louder but is a function of the greater clarity to individual parts brought about by the remastering. (If that makes any sense.)

It can certainly seem louder on say "I Wanna Be Adored" but check "Bye Bye Bad Man", greater clarity all over the shop to my ears.

Ironically this change might not suit everyone as the jangly, trebly sound of the original release seemed to suit the style of music.

:D

I much prefer it and still quite jangly to me :P

  • 2 years later...

If they do a new album, i'd like it to be a little different to standard Roses fare.

You arent going to change the way John Squire plays, but some uplifting songs might be a start!

they are only coming out of retirement to fill the vacant Oasis slot anyhow.

As for the Heaton Park shows, I'll try for a Saturday ticket

Even though I loved the first album as much as any 16 year old at the time, I think this will be completely worthless musically, but that doesn't matter. The whole thing has been worthwhile already for this exchange at the press conference:

Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown gave a Daily Mail journalist a hard time at the press conference about the band's relaunch. Brown turned the tables on him, saying: "Let me ask you a question. What's it feel like to write for a newspaper that used to support Adolf Hitler?" The Daily Mail hack persisted with his question but Brown ignored him and asked if he had ever voted Tory. The journalist denied he had, which led Brown to retort: "No one ever votes Tory, do they?" Brown clearly does not wanna be adored by the Mail.

(thanks to Daley in the Daily Mail thread)
