Yeah tomorrow is the hands on day isn't it? So we'll see some in game footage. Anything has to be better than today.

ah cool, well i'll hold judgement until then.

things aren't looking promising from that trailer though. :D

What about the 50+ hours it would take to download?

What about it? I'm sure you've spent longer downloading stuff. Hell, the game could stream as you play, we've seen it before.

WMVHD direct feed DOA4 and RR6 videos please Mr Microsoft. I can't even tell the games you've shown apart (other than PD0, because it looks rough).

Yeah!, they deliberately chose to show the worst bits so that the release version will get a 10 in Edge. Worked for Halo.

Microsoft probably couldnt give a flying fuck about what Edge gives any of their games.

its almost like they've released that dodgy cutscene on purpose, so the in game footage they will undoubtly release soon will blow us all away.

i for one know the game looks and plays well. so im not worried, though the whole negativity to the game on the internet must be a worry to microsoft :D

I must admit even my 'wait till I play it' was of thinking is getting a beating with this footage :D - there is no way thats a trailer tho, just a not-finished cut-scene. It was nice and smooth and the zoom on the sniper was good - but it does leave a sour taste in my mouth.

The MotoGP trailer was arse.. I got really excited as I didn't know about the game - I thought we'd just had the last -MotoGP3 on Xbox and was recently wondering why it wasn't going to be on 360. So I'm disappointed by this.

PGR3 is a given for me. Pure adrenalin. Smooth as fuck and sexy to boot.

Kameo is more appealing everytime I watch some more footage so thats for me too.

But honestly MS.. sort it out.

Well, I wasn't going to get one yet anyway, but having watched all those vids there's still nothing to get me excited. Gears of War looks quite interesting, and Too Human has been in development soooo long so there might be something there. PGR3? Not for me ta... and everything else is just tarted up Xbox games.

Still. Like I said, I wasn't going to get one yet anyway.

I asked the Magic Eightball if Perfect Dark Zero is going to suck.

"Outlook Good"

OHNOS!

I sussed out that the bit where the guy goes on about never complaining about garbage again - that'll be the result of Joanna Dark's dad somehow surviving not only being blown up by missiles, but falling 8 storeys into garbage.

Maybe Microsoft should of gone down the pre-rendered route, but that road is full of big lies and shattered hopes.

Re: PD0

More to do with the reserved write-ups (even IGN have been cagey, which isn't a great sign), previously uninspiring screens,  whisperings of pre-30fps and the fact that Rare have been off their game for five years now, that's perhaps why some of us are scratching our heads.

This.

And man I wanted PD. I bought a Gamecube for it for christs sake!

:):(:D:(:(:(

The PD0 video clearly demonstrates that there's still no semblance of quality control within Microsoft's first party publishing department*, even after it (MGS, not PD0) was basically scrapped and rebuilt a couple of years back. They're like EA with GoldenEye, assuming that the well-remembered name and Rare's past laurels (the work of people who have long since jumped ship) will sell the game regardless of quality.

Positioning it as the flagship launch title is horrifically misguided. It hardly puts a dampener on the machine in general though, there's lots of interesting third party stuff on the cards.

Also, I didn't know that All New Castle Wolfenstein was going to be a launch game. If it has RTCW-grade multiplayer (that is, PC RTCW) I might have to hold my nose and take the plunge into Xbox Live. :D

*Yes, I know, Halo and PGR... but consider that both of these were pretty much 'safe bets' that were well into development at the time they were snapped up, and also that MS didn't know what they had with Halo until it started getting massive press plaudits and sales. And that they put equal faith & marketing into Blinx, Nightcaster, Munch's, Brute Force, etc.

Perfect Dark Zero's midget

I don't know if you've realised this so I may be stating the obvious but you know that guy is jumping yeah? You can see the shadow of his foot next to the crate (in the original larger pic), so even it does look like he's some kind of giant, he is actually closer than the other guy.

Doesn't make the rest of the shot look any less crap, mind.

XO5: Xbox 360 Launch Countdown Begins

At XO5 tonight Microsoft showed vast improvements in its Xbox 360 offerings, but gave up little in the way of new announcements.

Marketing chief Peter Moore declared the launch line-up of games to be "the greatest line up in the history of games, ever" but there are still only three games confirmed for Day One release, those being Kameo, Perfect Dark and Project Gotha. Moore pointed out that there would be a "steady stream" of releases during "the launch window" - a vague term at the best of times. These amount to 25 titles, with a further 250 in development. He also said that are currently 200 games in development for original Xbox.

J.Allard came on to talk about Xbox Live, stressing the service's ease-of-use and functionality. He showed a way to avoid playing with annoying people using a simple graphical device. However, there was little that we haven't already seen.

Robbie Bach focused on Microsoft's desire to win over the European market. He acknowledged that the company had made a howler of the original Xbox launch in Europe, pricing the system too high and delivering it late into the market. He said that continent had been "a second class citizen" in gaming for too long.

The news of Peter Jackson producing the Halo movie was well received by the 1,000 or so journos present. A video showed Jackson talking about how he will make use of Halo's assets and culture to create a blockbuster of Kong Kong proportions.

John Carmack at id was also on the screen, announcing Wolfenstein and stating that Xbox 360 is now id's primary development platform. Bioware announced a game called Mass Effect, Ubi said there would be a Splinter Cell 4 and Silicon Knights has resurrected Too Human. Realtime Worlds is also working on an urban action game called Crackdown.

There can be no doubt that, in comparison to E3, the games we saw tonight look great. Perfect Dark stood out as a particularly impressive example of what Xbox 360 can do; or rather, is doing right now. But anyone expecting a rush of new stuff will have left disappointed.

Tomorrow: We'll being you first impressions of the games from the floor itself.

Of course. I'm sure they didn't care when they had "EDGE 10" on all the Halo TV adverts either.

I think the arse-licking quote helped. They cared that it was a 10/10 more than which mag it was in. Most viewers of the TV ad wouldn't have known or cared what Edge was.

Anyone that's taking that PD0 vid as being what the game is actually going to look like, is a fool.

The game was playable at the Gamestation conference, it looked and played amazing even with the AI down to a minimum - and the videos recently showed that it looks better than that crappy video.

i know MS aren't really ready to launch, but i have never (in my 30 years) seen a more badly handled hardware release. it must be chaos at MS central right now.

And that quote, is the most laughable piece of shit I've ever heard. How is it badly handled? Because a load of forumites put down a video that in no way seems to represent the gameplay which alone looks better than that video? HMM!

I think you answered your own question there. Badly handled cos they made it look crap to its target audience.

Some may argue that your attitude is rather foolish. Unlike everyone else, who are forming their opinions on actual physical evidence in the form of videos and screen shots, you seem content to slag everyone off for not taking the third hand appraisals of some bloke who works in Gamestation.

You have to wonder what agenda IGN is pushing, as there the only ones hosting it.

They don't give us a timeframe for the footage either.

There is also a Too Human trailer here but you must use the internet explorer.

That Too Human looks nice enough. Hard to tell if it's just pre-rendered though or if that's done with the in-game engine.

There's a much better Kameo trailer on that site too.

Noticeable by its absence on that site of all games listed at X05 is PD0. Pretty much every other game is listed on the official site and has a proper trailer, bar PD0. Makes me think that that leak is somewhat dodgy...
