Really though, cars, track, sunshine, doesn't seem to be any better than OR2.

Saint's Row? Looks like a GTA style game. GTA games are terrible.

Some of this stuff looks really nice, but where's all the info on the games and the new game play innovations?

Revolution controller was announced weeks ago, did you not get the memo :D

You're right - that's truly awful. I can't believe MS chose to show such a shoddily put together trailer. As pointed out elsewhere, compare X05's PD0 showing to MGS4 at TGS, and the leap in presentation is a whole world apart.

I almost have more of a morbid complusion to see what the final version of PD0 will be like when I see it looking as ropey as that.

I had to download that PDZ video. Couldn't resist. Seriously, grab it if you fancy a giggle and also a lesson on how not to produce a trailer. Where was the hot zipline action? Also the voice acting is just rubbish.

Imagine if all these launch games were fantastic. Imagine how out of pocket you'd be. Best off to have one or two decent titles and a mire of crap. I got mine picked already. Oblivion and PGR3. Both look next gen, both will immerse me in some beautifully realised gaming worlds.

I love that Saints Row pic with the explosion. Nice to see the shadow is totally wrong. Grahaagah.

Where the fuck is DOA4 and RR6 in that press release? I dont care if they have minor bugs or are missing a few bits and pieces, Live can patch them up.

Hell, why dont Microsoft just sell the games on Live? Pretty much zero loading, no DRUM N BASS TECHNO HARDCORE MIX REALLY LOUD when I go into Gamestation.

MS may have an early start, but how many of joe public are going to upgrade to a console with games that look only marginally better.

MS needed to show a pre-rendered HALO 3 trailer that would just take the piss out of the Killzone one.

i am more shocked than i was at E3.

Sure but this is the MS X05 thread and has there been any anouncements as to games for that controller yet? (if so direct me please :D )

Ya know, I'm looking forward to the X360 but I wasn't expecting much from this event...simply 'cos MS are shit at putting on these things. I see they didn't exceed my expectations :D That PDZ vid feels like a practical joke - it's like they go out of their way to show the worst possible stuff.

They need to take a leaf out of Sony's book and show a bunch of big flashy SUPER BAD ARSE COOL cgi stuff, if only to psyche people up. They are too "honest" about all this.

Two bits of good news from the event though...Splinter Cell 4 and that new Bioware game which I must say looks absolutely brill. KOTORish but with guns.

Don't you think that, gameplay-wise, it looks a bit dull and uninteresting? Those walls sure are bumpier than the current generation, though.

I think it looks fantastic and incredibly exciting.

My favorite genres are RPGs and Adventure games though, so that may be the reason I look forwards to Oblivion so....

I don't get it. What's the point of beating PS3 to market if what you've got isn't absolutely mindblowing? Everyone's just gonna hold on to their cash for the time being... Except by 2006 we're going to be in full-on Sony hype mode...

Okay - reality check, I know this expo isn't exactly the biggest part of MS's marketing, but all the same. Oblivion's the only game that really rocks my boat, and I'm tempted to wait for the GOTY version!

If you ignore the fact that most (if not all) of Sony's trailers at E3 were pre-rendered, then the actual showing (glitz, presentation, initial wow factor) is so far ahead of anything that's been shown here.

I've no doubt that in the long run the 360 will be a great console, but Sony must really think they're being showered with gold at X05. Microsoft are effectively shooting themselves in the head with footage such as the PD0 trailer.

I was one of those on the side, almost on the verge of picking up a 360. I was hoping a strong showing at X05 might have persuaded me to buy the console after the pre-orders had been fulfilled.

Not any more. If anything, such shoddy presentation has effectively turned me off the 360 for the forseeable future.

I'll stick to the likes of Shadow of the Colossus, Liberty City Stories and Okami for the time being.

couldn't agree with you more. you can bet if 360 fails to gain much market share - the 720 will be out in three years.

I can see MS doing 'a Sega' if the PS3 totally destoys them. They'll just give up and go to the PC market I guess.

Or just buy-out Sony.

What, about the Dunst? or PES4? I had a couple of pretty rubbish league games earlier, 2 draws :D

I haven't cancelled the pre-order (yet) so that can stay for now, besides PGR3 is a must and this thread has sold Oblivion to me. PD0 is still on order at Amazon as well...

More to do with the reserved write-ups (even IGN have been cagey, which isn't a great sign), previously uninspiring screens, whisperings of pre-30fps and the fact that Rare have been off their game for five years now, that's perhaps why some of us are scratching our heads.
