Crackdown

Some kind of indication as to whether you've already done a race, (without having to start one first) would be good too.

Yeah, race markers and stunt markers should turn red or something like that once they've been 'completed'.

Clearly if there's a boat it should transform into a plane - B button to toggle wings. Then you could have races around the islands that alternated between airborne checkpoints and Wave Race slalom ones.

I don't want to be able to go underwater, though, that's just crazy talk.

Damn, I got almost to the top of the agency tower last night, couple of meters away, when i misjudged a jump and promptly plummeted to a concrete death.

I should have tried again but I had to much other stuff to do.

DLC-wise I'd like chickens like in Zelda, oh and a small flamethrower perhaps?

A Hong Kong Phooey patch! That would be ace - your agent running around in a Phooey skin, (the game's already cel-shaded), the music would have to be included of course, but best of all the Hong Kong Phoeey car in the Agency Tower. Accessable through a filing cabinet naturally!

And when you are in a race all other race markers should be off... the amount of times i've missed a gate because i went to the wrong green marker...

A wonderful idea. Although it would also have to be the Chief's birthday every day.

On reflection the Hair Bear Bunch may be easier as I've already seen loads of people driving around in invisible cars.

A plane would kind of take away from the fun of scaling buildings. But a hang glider would be good for jumping off of high places.

I'd love to employ a biplane to help me search for that final agility orb, but it's a fair point - making it available to new players would ruin a lot of the game for them.

How about if the hang-glider evolved? Bi-plane would be 2* I reckon, but 4* would be a harrier or some such.

For anyone without 4 star driving, I found the easiest way to get it is running over Los Muertos gang members in the SUV. Don't go quickly - just line them up in from of you and nudge the car forward. You only need to touch them to kill them and since you'll be going slowly you shouldn't kill many civilians. You go up the best part of a percent each one you kill all toward your driving skill. You'll probably need to get a new SUV several times as they do eventually succumb to the gunfire but at least the Los Muertos don't tend to have explosives too often.

The machine guns on the 4 star Agency Supercar are amazing

I don't seem to have any Los Muertos chaps left except for those engaged in a very heated battle with the Volk on their island.

Experimented with SUV tiddlywinks last night as outlined by someone a few pages back. It's quite unpredictable! The first time I tiddlywinked my friend, he got the Car Juggler achievement even though he was sitting in the car at the time and it was not propelled by explosives. The second time, both the ramp truck and the SUV exploded, the SUV becoming embedded in a big rock, my friend squeezed into a void under the ground. He reported looking up and seeing the traffic floating above him. Later I tiddlywinked another player, and instead of launching him into the heavens it shot him rapidly sideways to another island. I mean like, in a second, he was across the sea on Shai Gen.

I still wish one of the trucks let you collect bodies.

i reckon stuff like this will probably be in crackdown 2.

stop giving your ideas away for free, i'm sure there are people on here who worked on it!

Hang glider would be great, but how it would it work? You would need to carry it to the top of buildings, unless they just made it magically appear when you press a certain button.

Starting from a hanger at the top of the Agency Tower would be cool, but you're right, you would need to lug it to the tops of other buildings round the city to re-launch.

I don't see that as a problem though - I've spent ages lugging seemingly pointless items, (trucks, SUV, corpses, barrels, rubber ducks and street lights), to the tops of buildings. At least with the hang-glider there'd be an obvious reason for doing so! :(

The hangglider could take up a weapon slot and appear on your back like a sniper rifle when you're not using it. We'd have to imagine it was some super-duper, foldy up glider but that's not really a stretch when we have cars going up buildings.

Back to Rowen wishing for a Birdman suit. Hopefully more Condor-Man than Batman!

I've got 3 stars on everything now but i've done the Islands in the order of the game, some i'm still on the second island. I've only just found out that you get those hi-tech police cars in your garage.

I've been stealing eveyones until now.

I'm gonna be so gutted when i finish the main single player campaign as its been superb.

You could have a suit that morphs like the vehicles when you get stars. On four stars of agility you get a little hang glider that folds out of your back.

Or it could be the last agility derived ability, attained once 5* agility has been aquired. You'd then need 5* equivalents across the other stats.

5* explosions, delivered from a hang gliding agent in a bird suit. Yes!

This with 16 player DM = :(

Been playing this for about two weeks and it has really grown on me, I love leaping around tall buildings in a single bound. I am not too good at the driving bits yet though :) Will have to try the co-op sometime soon

When I created this thread I was working at Realtime Worlds, however, I left 16 months before Crackdown was released (long story). I should point out that I've not actually played Crackdown due to living in Korea and waiting until I'm back to buy a 360.

There was an idea very early on to have some kind of hang-gliding feature built into the agent's suit though this was in the process of being scrapped when I joined RTW in Summer 2004. It think it was meant to combat criticism of the game not having flying vehicles like the latter GTA games.

There was also meant to be much more focus on researching a "dossier" of gang activities with a weekly cycle of gang activities which, if researched properly, would give windows of opportunity to take out the gang bosses very easily. I'm sure we also talked about having a "21 bullets" mode where the entire game could be completed by using your research to assassinate all 21 bosses with the sniper rifle. I think these have both been toned down in the final game.

Not sure if this made it into the game, but Dave Jones wanted to be able to borrow other save files to use as temporary power ups. For example you could play the game through once totally levelling up your agility skill. After starting a new game you could use this save file to temporarily boost your character's agility skill level and use it where it would be most helpful. I always thought this would totally unbalance the game and I presume it has been removed.

Interesting fact: Crackdown was in development for around 5 years since RTW's previous game Mobile Forces was released in 2002.
