Crackdown

Just picked this up again today - it's friggin awesome isn't it :( Reset all the gangs and bouncing around ripping gangs apart as the fully powered agent is sublime.

With this theme just out I'm preying to the God of "nochance" that we might get some form of mass DLC for this announced at E3 like a few new gangs/weapons/vehicles all in the same city - maybe even a whole redistribution of new orbs and some achievements.

I'd be over the moon if it happened.

If anything the most likely one may be 'Oh you remember crackdown after we put out that theme, well we are working on Crackdown 2'

That'd do me

Is the DLC for this free yet?

Don't think that anything which ever cost money been made free on Xbox Live? Not a criticism, just an observation. The Free For All pack is pretty essential (and free) since it basically brings the game up to version 1.0 .

Finally managed the Alleys Of The Den race using the Agency Supercar (and aided by a strategically placed ramp truck) to get the Racing achievement.

I've done all the bosses except for Wang on Psychotic and I have a feeling that it is going to nigh on impossible without a friend, so I'll save him for a co-op run with someone.

Seeing this thread being bumped prompted me to revisit Crackdown yesterday. I bought it when it first came out, didn't really know what was going on (I was just driving around, getting shot at everywhere I went), got bored of it and sold it shortly after. I bought it again second hand, had another quick go, didn't really know what was going on and put it to the bottom of my gaming pile.

But I started it again and actually put some effort into it this time; I took over all of the supply points and started taking down the gang members one by one, collecting agility orbs along the way. And it just clicked with me. It's fucking great, isn't it? It's so much fun, jumping 20 feet in the air and firing the shit out of some gang members on the way down, and then figuring out how to get to that orb. I don't know why I didn't see it before.

Thats exactly how I was with it. I got it a few weeks ago and blew right through the main game, fucking fantastic, the ultimate super hero game (to date)

I know it's all a bit '2007', but I just climbed to the top of the agency tower for the first time, then jumped off :(Amazing.

I went right to the top, jumped off the wrong platform and didn't get the achievement for it, but going up again is still fun

What level of agility do you need to get to the top? Don't want to start trying if I can't hack it.

Great game, feels totally unstructured and random to begin with but clicks after a couple of hours.

Think it's supposed to be ~just about~ possible on two stars... but you can certainly do it on three..

The second highest one, cant remember if that's four or five. It's worth doing it at that level too rather than waiting until you've maxed it out, you get a much greater sense of achievement.

Yeah, I did it on level three agility. It would have been a stretch on two stars, if it's possible at all.

And after playing it even more (I was up till 2am last night :)), it would be very hard to go back to GTA/Saint's Row-type games without wanting to jump around everywhere. This is crazy amounts of fun.

Just wait until you have a maxed out super agent :P

Crackdown is still my favourite 360 game and I still go back to it for a half an hour session every now and then. I felt the same about GTAIV as everything was so stupidly limited and I couldn't go to the places I wanted to and just wished that my Agent was there with his big bazooka rather than some dodgy Eastern European bloke with no super powers. Assassins Creed too reminded me of Crackdown but Altair can't even swim

Not producing a Crackdown 2 really is a stupid idea as it's a perfect sandbox game and really needs 4 player co-op. I'm hopeful that Prototype will be an alternative but I'd squirt all kinds of gaming love over Crackdown 2.

I still have two green orbs to find - where are THEY :)

just put this in the 360 for the first time [since picking it up a year ago] - it is fantastic!

why didn't no one mention it

Loads of people mentioned it, you just did not listen.

Its an awesome game and very addictive, especially when you get your stats up and start adventuring the city.

I've been replaying this a bit after all the Crackdown 2 hype, it IS still amazing.

All my stats are totally maxed now (apart from the driving, which is shit anyway) and I OWN the freakin city!

I like the up close and personal approach, kicking people halfway across the city is great!

I really like the look of this and it's less than a tenner in Argos apparently but I tried it ages ago at work before I got a 360 and I had terrible motion sickness. I think I've tamed that a little now but I'm loathe to pay even a tenner to make myself throw-up.
