    Clash Royale

iOS https://itunes.apple.com/app/id1053012308?mt=8 Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.supercell.clashroyale So I realise that these kind of games are the antithesis of rllmuk but the new game from Boom Beach and Clash of Clans devs (Supercell) came out of soft launch yesterday, called Clash Royale. Yes its fremium and yes I suspect you can buy your way to glory but the basic game seems very open and keeps the irritation of timers and cool downs to a minimum, you can seemingly keep playing as long as you want for free, with a constant stream of 'stuff' coming your way. Game itself is a nice mix of a deck builder style card game, which you then take into single screen arenas and pit against your online enemy in nicely played out battles - the aim being to take out their 3 castles before you lose yours. It looks a very well crafted realtime accesible strategy game and the battles last a max of only a few mins. I read about these guys in Wired, they are creaming in the cash but have an interesting approach to ftp - they claim IAPs should never be driven to remove frustration in the player, but to provide fun or joy. I'm not usually into these things, their previous 2 games passed me by, but I'm giving this one a good crack and enjoying it, the lack of timers as such means its perfect pick up and play fodder for those moments in the work loo, bus, train etc Clan Info rllmuk (50/50) - currently full, I will post when space is available. ugvm (30/50) - open membership Da Clan #20VGJJP (4/50) - open membership

    Amazing Katamari Damacy

It's quite a bit better than the clicker, I'll give it that. Shame that unlike the clicker it has no new music mixes though. Life could do with all the Katamari it can get. I approve.
  7. Thought I would create a not just iOS centric thread. Today Splendor on iOS and android has been updated with online multiplayer. Haven't bought a copy either physically or digitally yet, but do hope the digital version has local wifi play like the excellent Ticket to Ride.
  8. http://www.ingress.com/ So anyone playing Google's ARG? Got my invite a few days ago and it's rather good fun.Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nianticproject.ingress iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/nl/app/ingress/id576505181?mt=8 You secure Portals by planting Resonators at locations and use them to create fields by linking up three of the secured Portals earning you a score for either the Resistance or the Enlightened. That's what you do in short. I've written a bit more about it here.
  9. Flub

    South Park Phone Destroyer

Is anyone else playing this? It's a surprisingly fun and well made game. Real time battler where you use cards to summon units. Starts off as Cowboys and Indians but eventually opens up into more genres.

    Lineage 2 - Revolution

Bit of an odd one this. A full and complete F2P mmo that looks really nice, is insanely complicated and packed with systems, has plenty of f2p bullshit but is surprisingly kind on your time. http://l2.netmarble.com/en It's a mmo with full controls. Played isometric. You run around and hit things with your weapon and powers doing basic fetch and kill quests for idiots following a terrible plot. You have full control of your character and indeed that's the most efficient way to play. However. If you want to treat it as a more hands off experience you can set the game to auto quest. You need to interact to kick off quests and collect rewards but otherwise your character will head off and kill orcs all by themselves. They can be even set to grind mobs in a specific area if that's your fetish. Over the levels I've played so far (15) it's introduced me to many, many systems, daily dungeons, tower of insolence, forging, runes and god knows what else. Playing in auto mode it's surprisingly mellow. There's 269 levels so I'm guessing the wall will come at some point but for now it's a nice free distractions.

    Titanfall Assault

Anyone playing this? F2P card / capture point battler. It's actually really good & doesn't force you to buy cards all the time. If anyone is playing, I've set up a clan, you get extra bonuses etc. Search for Rllmuk if you're on it.
  12. To any indies that have released an iOS or Android game, have you got any advice or stories about your experiences? I'm about 3 months away from release of my indie sports title T20 Card Cricket which has been a struggle as I've worked on it part time for the last 2.5 years, had a baby a few months ago and had a licensing deal appear and fall through within a five month period. Not only that, my coder tore of part of his thumb in a mountain-biking accident, and one of my artists started going blind but although I say it every year, this time it really looks like the finish line is in sight. If you feel like sharing your experiences, how you got noticed, download numbers, mistakes you made, soft launches, monetisation strategy, I'd love to hear them. Also, if you have any advice/theories that go against the conventional wisdom that you read on Gamasutra and other development sites, I'd love to hear that too. I'm of the opinion that to get noticed you have to do things differently. As T20CC is quite niche (cricket x puzzle), I'm thinking of approaching sports writers and the games/sports section of publications rather than the traditional games press (I don't see a lot of crossover between cricket followers and traditional gaming press). Not that I'd compare T20CC to the mighty New Star Soccer, but I think getting featured in sporting publications of non-gaming press was a big part of its success (feel free to correct me, SiRead). Right now, as I wait for the next build, I'm cutting my trailer and looking to get that out in the next few weeks. I'm of the opinion that mobile games don't need the months and months of lead-in marketing that say Steam or console games require as the attention span of mobile gamers is very much 'can I download this now?' Put a link to your game site if you can. I'd like to check how you did your trailers and website as well. (mods - I put this in here instead of development for visibility purposes)
  13. Voting is closed as at 00:00 27-02-2017 - any changes or additions to votes from now will not be counted. It's that time of year again! A little bit earlier than usual, as I realised I won't be free at the end of February, and I still want to give you all a whole month to vote. This year's awards are going to be slighter than previous ones - which will be good news for those of you who don't enjoy my sparkling wit, or those who don't enjoy their awards ceremonies ending halfway through the year - as I have a fair amount of stuff going on in my life at the moment and so am reducing my time spent on fun things like this. Also, I played fewer games from 2016 than from previous years (limiting myself to four purchases in the year certainly helped there), so I'd have less to say anyway. What this effectively means is that this year will have: fewer categories to vote for fewer 'highlights' in the results thread - by and large the games outside of top 20s will just be listed, with maybe the occasional exceptional game that I want to flag up fewer criticisms in the results thread - my limited purchasing last year meant I largely avoided games I didn't anticipate enjoying, and I'm not in the habit of criticising games I've not played So, please temper/raise your expectations as appropriate. The rules: one forumite, one vote. If you vote twice I will invalidate your results. If you need to amend your votes during the voting period, edit your original post! vote for your preferences, not to meet critical consensus: it doesn't matter if you don't think your favourite game of the year was the best game of the year - if it's your favourite, it's your favourite, and you should put in in top place only games released in 2016 are eligible. You may include games that were previously released in a different territory or for a different system major expansions and remakes are also eligible episodic and early access games can be voted for if they either initially launched or finished within 2016 you don't have to vote in all categories, and you don't have to fill all categories - if you only think six games are worthy of entry into the game of the year list, only vote for six games! voting closes at the end of 26 February; that is to say 00:00 on 27 February. Any submissions or edits made after that point will not be considered towards the results comments are allowed, and indeed encouraged: just please put them in speech marks on the line below the vote you're commenting on, so that it's easy for me to separate them from the actual votes! 14. Okay with just a few days left on this (already funded) Kickstarter, figured it deserved a thread of its own. The 90's Arcade Racer http://youtu.be/bywfy_hcq_s http://www.kickstart...0s-arcade-racer Proper old school Arcade racer based on the likes of Scud Race, Daytona USA and Indy 500. WiiU release just announced along with PC/Mac, Android, iOS and Linux. Also its looking highly likely that there may be an ingame billboard featuring a certain forum name that may be close to a lot of your hearts (not NeoGaf!) So whos in? I certainly am!..... Just look at it! Latest Update: 11/02/2013 More game details taken from Kickstarter page:

    Nintendo Mobile

Because the announcement thread is unfortunately called RIP Nintendo Nintendos first mobile game is being announced soon The guy heading it up is the guy who did Mario Kart, so people are maybe expecting F-Zero, but also Miyamoto mentioned Pikmin 4 being nearly finished but didn't mention the platform, and it's not like much is coming to Wii U at this point and NX isn't ready, so... Or it could be something completely different and new - speculation!

    Call of Duty G-G-G-Ghosts!

According to NeoGAF the next-gen only rumour should be taken with a pinch of salt as it's from a different source than the rest.Animated loading sequences, who said they were running out of ideas!
  19. Yes it's one of those. F2P. Level and energy based. Feed Donald to Mickey to level him up etc. This one seems slightly more involved. Moving around the maps is real time and combat is turn based. Also it's currently having a 2.0 relaunch and you get shed loads of free stuff to get you started (Including thousands in IAP currency). https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.square_enix.android_googleplay.khuxww&hl=en_GB https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kingdom-hearts-union-χ-cross/id1086859120?mt=8 I'm quite enjoying it so far. https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/04/06/kingdom-hearts-union-xcross-goes-live-today/ http://www.kingdomhearts.com/unionx/us/
  20. Professor Puzzles

Fire Emblem Heroes - swipe away those tears.

Might as well go for the hat trick. FIREMBLEMEROES is one of those phone games that you play with your greasy digits, thumbing your troops around on 8x6 grids and tenderly caressing Tharja as she bounces all over the screen, wondering how you ever got to the point of caring more about a digital moe witch than your own flesh and blood family. This is all fine. It has some sort of payment system where you can summon warriors from previous Fire Emblem games by using up orbs, but you don't know which one you're going to get so don't be disappointed when you're feeling all excited about having Camilla available for a swiping sesh but a 2,000 year old dragon that looks like a toddler appears in her place and somebody calls the police. HERE IS VIDEOS! There looks to be a fair amount of maps to play around with and some sort of storyline tying it all together. No idea of pricing as yet but it's launching Feb 2nd on Android and 'soon' on iOS, which could be either later or earlier, we just don't know. EDIT: We DO know now. Feb 2nd on iOS too!

    Lumines Puzzle & Music

Is anyone else playing this? It's pretty awesome! After loving the original on the PSP, the Xbox Live Arcade Lumines Live! version and Lumines Electronic Symphony on the Vita, I was sceptical how this would work, but it turns out really well! It looks and sounds beautiful and the controls click easily. A nice review from touch arcade here: http://toucharcade.com/2016/09/01/lumines-puzzle-music-review-shinin-as-bright-as-it-can/

    Riptide GP Renegade

I've got high hopes for this it's their first game since 360 Hydro Thunder built for the latest consoles and we aren't exactly drowning in a sea of decent water racers. Out now on PS4 and next week on XB1 with Android, iOS and Win10 versions coming too. I really enjoyed the console port of the last one which started out on phone. http://www.vectorunit.com/riptide-gp-renegade

    Lady Layton

Level 5 have announced a new game in the Layton series - Lady Layton: The Millionaire Queen Ariadne's Plot. Featuring the same puzzle gameplay as the previous Layton games, you play Professor Layton's daughter. The Japanese release is in Spring next year.
  24. I'm only a few levels in but it does feel like the best AW style game yet for mobiles. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/id1008496061
  25. Quite an old one this but I just got back into it. Classic match 3 gameplay in the style of Puzzles and Dragons. Freely movable gems within a time limit and characters to collect and level up. No timers. You don't have to spend energy to play and can play as much as you like. It plays a video ad after every level but a small IAP purchase disables all that (See the fan area in the game for more details). Rather good fun if you like that sort of thing and the lack of timers is a bonus. Also if you put in this code 5872-4692-5276-7993 you'll get three free characters. Frobisher, Abslom Daak and Shayde (From the comics).
