  1. Amazon come along with another hero show, based on a Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic. The show is developed by Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen. Stars Karl Urban, Elizabeth Shue, Antony Starr and a bunch more.
  2. http://deadline.com/2017/11/amazon-the-lord-of-the-rings-tv-series-multi-season-commitment-1202207065/ Amazon have reached a deal with the Tolkien Estate, Harper Collins and New Line. It's for a series set prior to Fellowship of the Ring and an additional unspecified potential spin-off. Apparently it will not be limited to material from the books and can include new material featuring the characters. This actually comes from the Tolkien Estate approaching studios rather than studios seeking permission. They had also approached Netflix and HBO. It seems Amazon are paying $200 million for the rights. Just the rights. Actually making the thing will be an additional hefty cost.
  3. I'm sure I'm not alone here in having fond memories of the 1994 "The Tick" animated series, or the 2001 "The Tick" live-action series? Well, The Tick's creator Ben Edlund has been working on another live-action version, this time for Amazon's 2016 Pilot Season. Written by Edlund and directed by Wally Pfister (Christopher Nolan's usual cinematographer), the new pilot for The Tick stars Peter Serafinowicz as The Tick, Griffin Newman as Arthur, Valorie Curry as Dot, and Jackie Earle Haley as The Terror. http://www.denofgeek.com/uk/tv/the-tick/43176/the-tick-2016-pilot-review https://www.salon.com/2016/08/24/the-tick-vs-pilot-season-can-amazon-bring-back-the-big-blue-superhero/ http://www.polygon.com/tv/2016/7/21/12251774/the-tick-amazon-pilot-premiere-date http://uk.ign.com/articles/2016/08/18/the-tick-pilot-review
  4. The hoped-for (by execs) movie franchise is presumably dead but they're still doing a separate TV version on Amazon. Supposed to be more faithful to the books than the movie was, but I hear that's not a high bar. It apparently starts by covering the gunslinger's origins. Eastenders own Sam Strike will be Roland Deschain. Jasper Pääkkönen is Marten Broadcloak. He's from @kerraig UK's Jet Trash and something called BlacKkKlansman. Michael Rooker is Eldred Jonas, a failed gunslinger. There's also a rumour of Jerome Flynn playing Steven Deschain.
  5. This popped up on Amazon Prime over the weekend. Stars Donald Glover, Rihanna, Letitia Wright and Nonso Anozie. Directed by Hiro Murai. Not seen it yet but I've heard its good, certainly has some good names involved, and only 55 minutes. Apparently a musical of some sort.
  6. Turns out Amazon are doing a TV version of the Saoirse Ronan movie, Hanna. Which came out more years ago than I thought. David Farr, the movie co-writer, is writing this too. Coming in March. I liked the movie and it's odd style. So, for me, this has a lot to live up to.
  7. Amazon have picked up Greg Daniels Upload, described as a sci-fi romantic satire. Stars Andy Allo and Robbie Amell.
  8. Amazon are doing an 8-episode series based on Simon Stålenhag's sci-fi art. Legion writer Nathaniel Halpern will be the showrunner and Mark Romanek directing the pilot. Apparently it's being pushed as one of their big scope genre shows. Some of the art, for those not familiar
  9. https://www.thewrap.com/westworld-creators-jonathan-nolan-lisa-joy-the-peripheral-series-amazon/ Westworld's Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan are adapting the William Gibson book for Amazon.
  10. Amazon are developing a TV show of Conan. From Ryan Condal (co-creator of Colony), Miguel Sapochnik (beloved director of Game of Thrones fans) and Warren Littlefield (exec Producer of Handmaids Tale and Fargo series).
  11. Arnold Schwarzenegger is to star in a western drama series for Amazon. Didn't see that coming. Set in the Oklahoma Indian Territory in the late 1800s, he plays a ruthless Federal Marshall who partners with a Deputy who was tasked by a judge to track down a legendary outlaw in the wilderness. Twists, surprises, blurred lines between good and bad, etc.
  12. And Amazon are here to cash in! Today they revealed three new games: a MOBA, a MOBA and *yes you guessed it* a survival game! All fully geared towards twitch and esports (obviously) with betting systems and other money making schemes in place. What a time to be alive folks. Let the games begin. make it stop
  13. i can't find the thread, but a while back I backed a kickstarter for a new N64 anthology. I paid £130 on the understanding that they would send me two copies. one vanilla, and one with the other volume of game covers. I only got the special edition. I'm still bitter. But not so bitter that i won't tell you the book is on amazon for £25 at the moment. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-Anthology-Classic-Math-Manent/dp/1605849405/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1502288467&sr=1-1&keywords=n64+anthology
  14. No, the second season of Stranger Things hasn't jumped ship to Amazon. It's a sci-fi pilot based on The Book of Strange New Things. Richard Madden (Game of Throne's Robb Stark) stars as a priest who goes to space to help found a new colony and spread Christianity to the natives. Naturally, his own faith is tested in some way. I don't know the book so I have no idea.
