  1. Doomfist; Anniversary Event 23rd May - 12th June
  2. Game impressions/discussion starts here By Guerilla Games Release Date: February 28th 2017 ABOUT IMAGES VIDEOS Maybe a bit early to dedicate a thread to but that footage looks a bit amazing.

    Disco Elysium

So Disco Elysium has finally got a release date. Isometric urban fantasy/new weird detective RPG. OCTOBER 15TH!!! Devs are saying it'll be 60+ hours of sprawling isometric role playing goodness. I won't lie to you, I'm pretty excited by this. There's been an absolute deluge of isometric RPGs these last few years but this one looks pretty original.
  4. Not an April Fools after all. https://www.forbes.com/sites/olliebarder/2019/04/02/r-type-final-2-has-been-announced-for-the-playstation-4/
  5. I thought this might have been Onimusha at first, but no it's a new PS4 exclusive from Sucker Punch. Open world set in feudal Japan.
  6. E3 Announce trailer: E3 Gameplay demo: E3 LiveCast: This formed a fairly big chunk of the Sony conference and it looked pretty cool to me. According to the developers in the LiveCast, and going by what was shown in the gameplay video, it's a post-apocalyptic open-world adventure game set in the Pacific Northwest where you play a biker-turned-bounty hunter, riding across the gorgeous environment while trying to avoid huge hordes of former human beings that the developers emphatically say aren't zombies but are in fact called 'Freakers'. My first thoughts on watching the video was that it was a Last of Us spin off, which got me very excited. It turns out it's not, but in as much as it does look very derivative of other games and franchises, I think the horde-chasing-you mechanic and the non-linear design should make for some interesting gameplay. Even just watching the demo I found myself urging the player character to get away, so it all seems suitably intense. On the downside, the developers are definitely not Naughty Dog, the last thing they made being the Uncharted game for the Vita, which was pretty sub-par from what I can remember, and the Syphon Filter games before that, which I haven't played but, from what I can recall, were reasonably well reviewed. There's no release date yet from what I can see, but apparently they've been making it for three years, and the demo, if it is actual gameplay (which, admittedly, it did look like), looked pretty polished from where I was sitting, so maybe early 2017, or possibly even by the end of the year. I especially like what seemed to be happening in the gameplay video, where the player was strategically trying to kill the enemies in particular places so that their dead bodies formed an obstacle for the other enemies and slowed them down. That seems like a mechanic that has a lot of potential. The developers are also selling it as entirely open world, so just because the player in the demo ducked underneath the train car, for example, you don't have to go that way in the actual game, meaning that horde encounters can be played out in lots of different ways and you can get creative with the way that you use the environment to your advantage. Your bike will also play a big role as there are very few working vehicles in the environment, meaning that it's more like your 'noble steed' than a bike. What are your thoughts?
  7. Looks like an announcement about a sequel to Red Dead Redemption is hopefully, just days away now. Tips and shortcuts. @Nimmel Once you've opened a draw or chest etc if you keep square held down he will loot everything in it without having to do it multiple times per container.

  9. Looks pretty decent. It kinda looks like it's set in Canada based on the pre rendered video?
  10. Ongoing expansions are PC only, but you will be able to copy your console save (not just your asset balance) over to the PC version, and Frontier will provide a free copy of Elite Dangerous for you to play.
  11. Apparently no topic yet (unless search is failing once more), but there's a demo for this on the PlayStation Store: https://store.playstation.com/en-uk/concept/10004428/ A prequel to the original Valkyrie Profile, this - in my mind - seems to pull an Automata: what if we took a dormant IP and approached it from a different action-RPG angle? Although in this case, that means getting rid of all the turn-based RPG battles. Playing through the demo, I do feel this very comfortably snapping into the Automata-shaped hole that Replicant couldn't fill. It's been ages since I've touched Profile, so I'm also not as uncomfortable with the changes. One thing I kind of dislike is that it does use Square Enix' "Stagger Battle System" again. Still it plays well, even if it's a bit mindless. Will have this on the playlist before long. Any other impressions?
  12. Teaser trailer: E3 2019 trailer: Final trailer: The Final Fantasy VII remake will use a more modern art style for Cloud, similar to his appearance in Dissidia Final Fantasy or Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. It is being created to celebrate the 20th 23rd anniversary of Final Fantasy VII. The game will be directed by Tetsuya Nomura, with a scenario written by Kazushige Nojima, and will be a timed PS4 exclusive. Official Japanese site: >> http://ffvii-remake.square-enix.com/ Didn't Square-Enix once claim that they'd never do such a thing? I think they did, but that doesn't really matter now. Out on March 3 April 4 10, 2020
  13. A Definitive Edition for Switch! Releasing Winter 2019 Details Orchestral soundtrack English and Japanese voices 16-bit version included (which looks like the 3DS version) Additional story content

  15. Jump to my beta impressions: 1 | 2 Introducing Babylon's Fall / [ バビロンズフォール ] from director Kenji Saito and producer Junichi Ehara Trailers: Original thread text: Recently revealed at Square Enix's E3 conference this week, I thought we may as well get started with a thread for this. I did some freeze-frames on the captions and there's a lot of setup for the story premise. An unknown power named the Oversoul can forsee future events and be harnessed in weapons, but an all-consuming darkness is forseen - the only indication of "mankind's revival" coming from the "darklands". Meanwhile, riots break out over the Oversoul (ab)use, and the elder gods strike down against mankind because riots aren't cool. The goddess Gaia steps in to create a new world that saves mankind from extinction, and the Scholars of Gaia are formed to help maintain faith in the goddess. New and old ideologies clash, Gaia kicks off, and humanity must strike back. That was in 2018. Since then, very little was revealed for several years - we got some trailers and promotional images, but it wasn't until summer of 2021 that we found out that it would be a "live service" co-op action RPG for 4 players - with loot, crafting, and customisation. Rather than having something like a skill tree, you'll be relying on your acquisition of high-level equipment to overcome challenges, so it sounds like it's the typical loop of missions and looting that you'd get in similar online service-based titles. A closed beta has been ongoing across all platforms, but I haven't really spoken to anyone who managed to get in, and they probably have agreements in place to avoid revealing too much. For now, I'll only be able to share the officially released news and media that everyone has access to. A few Platinum fans are kind of disappointed after discovering what kind of game this will be - and honestly, I'm there too. At the same time, I have a long-term Destiny 2 habit at the moment ... but this will have to be pretty special to convince me to juggle two service-based games. 16. NOTE: Please see the below thread for dedicated discussion of Persona 5 Scramble; hopefully my thread can be the home of vanilla and Royal chat! Free legacy DLC for P5R: https://store.playstation.com/en-gb/product/EP0177-CUSA17419_00-P5RDLCBUNDLE0001 - once it's downloaded, check the cardboard box in your room to unlock it. Also, you may need to restart the game before it recognises the content. New semester conditions (and related advice) for P5R: UPDATED OP: This is now an OP about Persona 5 Royal. Like P4 Golden and P3 FES, this new game is intended to be a sort of "deluxe" update to 2017's Persona 5, with new events, a new "Phantom Thief" character named Kasumi, a customisable personal palace (named "My Palace") and other bits and pieces. Previously we found out that it would be released in the west around "Spring 2020", but on December 3rd 2019 we found out that the game would be released on March 31st 2020. Additionally, there will be the opportunity to place a digital pre-order and get an original P5R theme. P5R owners will also get original P5 DLC for free, and there are a few different editions of the game to look out for - the Phantom Thieves Edition (includes a Joker mask with stand, art book, physical disc and steelbook, soundtrack, dynamic PS4 theme), the Launch Edition (physical disc, steelbook, dynamic PS4 theme code), the Ultimate Edition (digital download, DLC bundles, bonus costume packs), and the Deluxe Edition (digital download, Kasumi costume pack.) Those DLC bundles will be available as separate purchases too; there's a Kasumi costume pack, a "battle bundle", a "persona bundle", and a "DLC bundle". I had mixed feelings about the original version of Persona 5 - in terms of content and presentation it was one of the most polished games in the series so far, but the more ambitious sequences that formed large portions of gameplay in the palaces sometimes threatened to overstay their welcome. So I'm kind of hoping that Royal comes with dungeon design that's perhaps a little bit tighter... but even if P5 wasn't my favourite game in the series, it's still a pretty good RPG in its own right and I look forward to having another excuse to revisit the world of the Phantom Thieves... http://www.atlus.com/persona5/ If you're wondering what a Persona is, I've provided a little primer below:

    Fall Guys

So, Fall Guys has a release date - the 4th August. I have absolutely no idea if this will be any good or not, but a lot about it appeals to me. It's bright, colourful - looks as though it's got questionable physics and doesn't really require any sort of skill outside of persistence so it's not something that I'm going to be automatically terrible at as I close on my 40th year. ... it basically seems to be some sort of obstacle course game for 60 people based loosely on those questionably safe Japanese game shows where you need to cross a bridge while they fire a sandblasters at you from all directions. If you fail to make the course, you're out and everyone else proceeds to the next round, until there's only one player remaining. On top of all this, it features digital dress-up and is only £16 on the Steam store, which is about the amount of money I'm willing to risk on something like this on the off-chance I periodically have a bit of fun with it. If it was coming out at £44.99, I might feel a little different, but depending on how well the thing controls, this could be a lot of fun.

  21. “A sequel to Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta in this day and age? And from PlatinumGames? And it’s not an April Fools joke after all?!” Anyways, to explain a bit for those who may not know, Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta (and the awesome mecha spin-off UFO Robo Dangar)were released in the 80s by a game company called Nihon Bussan, also known as Nichibutsu. Both games were vertically scrolling shooters that included a play mechanic where you docked with friendly ships. At a time when shooting games where you fought alone were the norm, aggressive gameplay that made your ship more powerful as you docked with allies had gamer kids burning with excitement back then, and both games took a place in gaming history. Sol Cresta itself is a “free-form docking and shooting” game that PlatinumGames will release, and it bridges the gap of 36 (!!) years since the release of Terra Cresta in 1985 as the official sequel and next entry in the Cresta series - disregarding Terra Cresta 2 and Terra Cresta 3D then. Announcement trailer - not an April's fool after all: Gameplay trailer: More info on the gameplay mechanics here: >> https://www.platinumgames.com/official-blog/article/11362 Should release in 2022.
  22. https://p-ch.jp/remaster/portal/ Holy shit. PC! I can throw out these other consoles at last! (provided the required specs are okay, and the ports are decent) Would have loved the P2s as well but they're not the easiest things to get on with. P5R will be the first one to be released, on October 21. The remaster portal also has some fine print about distribution: P3P and P4G will be digital downloads only; P5R will be a digital download for Xbox and PC, so presumably it will be available as a physical release on PS5 and Switch. Furthermore, there are no plans for any kind of free PS4->PS5 upgrade if you already have Royal on PS4. My immediate reaction on Twitter: More details when I have time, or something Original game threads: P3 | P4(G) | P5
  23. Capcom a few months ago announced Exoprimal. Dinosaurs are falling from the sky and only you can save humanity or something. From the brief video below it looks a bit like EDF but with dinosaurs. Looks promising. Due out next year.
