  1. First trailer: By voice actor for three dog. Sadly Obsidian are extremely unlikely to be involved given their kickstarter project and the whole metacritic bonus fiasco but whoop anyway! FO3 was still great.
  2. This game came out recently across all platforms and is incredible. It mixes genres really well and is a: Metroidvania, Platforming game with pinball mechanics. The art style is lovely and the music is joyful. Despite being fairly short, it has fantastic pacing. Check out videos below then go ahead and buy it. It is already one of the games of the year in my opinion. Buy it Xbox Playstation PC Switch
  3. I'm not a fan of Dark Souls but I do enjoy seeing what publishers think they can get away with when it comes to the ultra expensive collectors edition. https://store.bandainamcoent.eu/uk/product/526642/dark-souls-trilogy-collector-s-edition-ps4?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ds-trilogy-announcement-19012019 All yours for just £449.99. I know there are a lot of Dark Souls fans on this forum, any takers?
  4. Just announced at Capcom Cup, a collection which includes Street Fighter 1, four iterations of Street Fighter II, the three Alpha games and all three Street Fighter IIIs. Online play for SFII', Super Turbo, Alpha 3 and 3rd Strike as well. Oooof. PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC. http://www.capcom-unity.com/strumslinger/blog/2017/12/10/celebrate-30-years-of-street-fighter-with-the-street-fighter-30th-anniversary-collection
  5. This looks intriguing, and only a week to the release of Episode 1.
  6. This got mentioned a few times in the PlayStation Network and Steam threads, but, by golly, it deserves its own thread. Just two hours in, and this Metroidvania has already sunk its fingernails well deep into my back. It's gorgeous, controls very well, and the second area is pretty much 2D Yharnam. (Actually, I'm kind of convinced it's deliberately meant to be nod towards Bloodborne.) Its RPG elements are very basic (you can equip passive and active buffs, and that's pretty much it, it seems) which is a relief, allowing you to focus on the platforming and the simple, yet satisfying Souls-like combat. It's an effing shame that I'm still not entirely through with Zelda and have another major release begging for my attention (and that's even beside the fact that it's a sin that this isn't getting a handheld release; this has Vita and even Switch written all over it) but, man, I can't wait to dive into this proper. Anyone else playing this?

  8. Long before the we wanted to go into battle on an island, the world was in big big trouble and only a few brave heroes could SAVE THE WORLD! Or something like that anyway. Fortnite was originally a PvE game and despite Battle Royale being the darling of the industry right now, this is still the meat of Epic's game... But what is it? Well I am too lazy to write stuff so this is from Wikipedia: Whilst the game does have micro-transactions and despite needing to pay to get access right now, the balancing seems pretty decent on the whole, with you being able to progress through the game just by playing and getting end of mission rewards. What's best though, the game is very generous with V-Bucks, meaning you can easily earn enough to buy a full season of Battle Royale within a few days. A few on the forum are really into it... you should be to. Media Our very own @robdood is the go to forum expert in this mode right now and you should check out his videos too. Check out his channel too. 9. I think this game is good enough to warrant it's own thread, I was surprised there wasn't one already. It just recently launched at mid price, 23 quid, on all the major platforms. It's been in early access as an open world survival game for ages. It now has a good story mode with 5 chapters, but only 2 have been released so far with the other 3 coming as free downloads. I put about 40 hours into the sandbox mode a few years back, but it's been overhauled since then and is now pretty beautiful and highly polished. If you like survival games, especially solo, this is the best one I've played. Highly atmospheric and scary at times. Just checked - rated very positive on steam with 25k reviews and 4.5/5 on xbox.
  10. I've been doing a weekly mini review on some smaller eshop games this last few weeks, in the hope of promoting some discussion about the games. I figured I'd spin off some of the posts into their own thread to see how interested others are. So here goes. This week: Night In The Woods Price: £17.09 Metacritic: 85% https://www.metacritic.com/game/switch/night-in-the-woods Also on: Pretty much everything. It's hard to really talk about Night In The Woods without going into spoiler territory. I can't even quantify what appeals about the game so much to me, really. You play as Mae, a young cat who returns home to her little town after dropping out of college. You rekindle old friendships, you attempt to talk with your disappointed parents, you wander around town, noticing how many places have closed down since you were last here, you poke at dismembered arms with sticks. The atmosphere reminds me of Animal Crossing if it was written by David Lynch. Things just don't seem quite right in this little town. What stands out about Night In The Woods is the dialogue. The core four main friends have easy, well written conversations that flow naturally. Oftentimes, this will slow the pace of the game down a bit as you end up listening to talk about what was on TV lastnight, but it really does aid the character development. And when the game takes a left turn about two thirds of the way through, you realise how important those conversations are. Honestly, I just enjoyed spending time in the world. At about 6-7 hours, it's not the longest game, But the feel of decay, of a town which is failing in the face of the modern world is so well realised. And it has a great story to tell.
  11. About time we had a thread for this so here goes. Official site In Forza Horizon, it seems to me the spirit of PGR lives on - racing which is always fun and as accessible or challenging as you wish to make it, all set in gorgeous surroundings to a rich soundtrack. After the US and the Riviera, we are off to Australia next, in a map that is twice as large. There seem to be many new features which weren't mentioned in the briefing - Co-op for the "campaign", Blueprints to create challenges, and Groove radio to stream your own music via Onedrive, to name a few. You are now in charge (hopefully this means some of the annoying voice overs will not feature). Hire and fire drivataars (that's me out for the count then). Scope for a Rllmuk club I would have thought; anyway I can't wait. 12. CGI announcement trailer: First proper trailer: Gameplay details from reddit Q&A: - Sniper rifle carried in case and needs to be assembled/packed up again rather than the magic pockets of Absolution - Hiding gun behind back when near NPCs from Blood Money returns - 'accident' hits for targets return - minimap now tells you where disguises are effective - full-screen map also returns with points of interest marked - Diana gives updates over the earpiece e.g telling you movements of the target - some comedy disguises seem to be back - alerts can trigger lockdowns - civvies leave the area and security conduct a sweep, after which everything returns to normal. These can be triggered strategically e.g by activating fire alarms - guards alertness indicated by yellow/red markers over their heads - certain guards are 'observant' meaning they will bust your disguise more easily. This is often logical, such as head-of-security knowing all his staff. These guards are marked on the minimap to avoid trial and error. - metal detector checkpoints return - save anywhere instead of checkpoints - guards can find mines you've places and will take them away for investigation (much like guards finding your specialist guns lying around in Blood Money and taking them back to the security room). - a form of 'Instinct' seem to return, like Batman's detective vision, highlighting points of entry/egress and guards. - shoving people returns. Including over railings. - throwing objects seems to have returned - choose weapons and equipment before entering a level - David Bateson voicing 47 again - Gameplay closest to Blood Money out of any game in the series Videogamer preview http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/hitman/preview-3901.html "More Blood Money than Absolution" "Going by the initial presentation, Hitman appears to be the game fans have been waiting for since 2006's Hitman: Blood Money, with huge sandbox environments and an unprecedented amount of opportunities to assassinate your target" Announcement blurb:
  13. By Remedy Entertainment Official Site Release Date: April 5th 2016 ABOUT Quantum Break blurs the line between television and gameplay, integrating the two into one seamless, uniquely immersive experience. 14. Seems to be Lego's take on Disney Infinity and Skylanders. The game leaked this morning, so WB just confirmed the thing. Polygon has the story: http://www.polygon.com/2015/4/9/8376101/lego-dimensions-release-date-back-to-the-future-wizard-of-oz http://www.lego.com/en-us/dimensions/ Trailer:
  15. I agree, it's getting discarded just as soon as I can get a decent Dark Knight poster in it's place!
  16. Wales Interactive have a new FMV mystery game coming out. The Shape Shifting Detective. If you weren't interested (you should be, it looks fantastic) then did you notice a certain someone...? No? If I did 'This' would it mean anything to you? Coming to Steam, Xbox One, PS4, Switch in Autumn.

    Dirt Rally

Codemasters are streaming it on twitch just now - apparently this is far more of a sim than anything they've done before which for a rally game could be ideal. http://www.twitch.tv/dirtgame/ http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-04-27-dirt-rally-could-well-be-codemasters-first-real-sim From what I've seen of the stream (on my phone) it looks really good.

    Planet Alpha

Picked this up on Switch. It looks pretty bad on TV mode (playing on a 4k set admittedly) but better - if basic - on handheld. Gameplay is pretty basic. I guess I was hoping for a Inside/Limbo with Sci Fi sort of thing but no such luck. The music is quite atmospheric but maybe as I’m playing it on Switch I don’t get the same sense of awe that I got from the trailers. Frame rate chugs on a few occasions though nothing too serious. Some bits (I’m an hour or so in) are quite creepy and scary but as the checkpoints are so generous there’s no real feeling of tension or fear. I’m disappointed as I was looking forward to this.
  19. I know we have dedicated next-gen threads, but I started a fresh one for this because at this point in the cycle any specific discussions will end up buried under the avalanche of ZOMG MY STATUS JUST CHANGED TO PUTTING STAMPS ON THE PARCEL!!! The headset that comes with the PS4 looks like it was made by Blue Peter, the Xbone headset looks better but I up imagine a lot will want to replace with their own. What recommendations do people have for decent headsets to use with next-gen. I understand that the PS4 will use pretty much any headset as long as it has the right jack. Anyone have any recommendations for a decent over-one-ear + mic model (as I still want to hear the game audio through the TV)?
  20. This looks interesting.
  21. Just announced at GamesCom. After a string of misfires it looks like Supermassive Games are returning to the successful Until Dawn formula for an anthology of stand-alone horror games where your decisions affect the narrative outcome and everyone can live/die etc Namco Bandai are publishing, so Xbox and PC owners to get to join in this time. The first story in the anthology is called Man of Medan and is due for release next year. I really enjoyed Until Dawn so I'm cautiously in. I think a lot of people were requesting that they basically do a series of stand-alone games where each focuses on a specific horror sub-genre so it looks like they were paying attention.

  23. Third season is out out now! Only realised because I logged into PSN and saw it there. Looking good so far, getting high scores all over the place. Think I'll buy the first episode and then decide if I want to splash out on the season pass.
  24. The Sexy Brutale is out today! Xbox Store: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/store/p/the-sexy-brutale/c1pjx1j6rt8t PS Store: https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-gb/games/the-sexy-brutale/cid=EP2972-CUSA06819_00-THESEXYBRUTALE01?smcid=sen:entwined:EP9000-CUSA00672_00-ETWPS40000000000:playstation-store Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/552590/ ACG - "Easily A Buy" "There is so much here that is enjoyable to do, so much to explore. And while it doesn't have anything more than a second or third playthrough replayability, that's more than enough for the price that they're asking, at how many hours of enjoyment you're going to get through this. It's really a different style of puzzle game and it really surprised me ....It really was, just simply, a blast. I never expected to like it as much as I did..." Jimquisition - 10/10 Blast it all if it isn’t another impeccable entry in a year swarming with quality already. I fear this one will get lost in the shuffle of big budget games, but make no mistake – The Sexy Brutale deserves as much attention as any Horizon, Zelda, Nioh or Persona. Hardcore Gamer - 4.5/5 In the end, The Sexy Brutale is a marvelous and unique delight of a murder mystery, one you’ll have walked away from feeling shocked over what exactly you just saw play out in the story, satisfied over the challenging puzzles you’ll have solved to help out each masked guest, and dazzled over the vibrant and mesmerizing aesthetics. PSU - 8.5/10 Awash in a frankly ridiculous amount of charm and bolstered by a genuinely innovative time travel mechanic, The Sexy Brutale is one of the most deliciously refreshing puzzlers to come along in a good long while IGN - 8.2/10 Every murder The Sexy Brutale includes is uniquely fascinating to investigate, with the central loop of searching for clues and executing a plan to alter time continually engaging. I found Boone’s quest so fascinating, the Brutale’s secrets so alluring, and its world so charming that I rewound the clock just to spend a few more days in Lafcadio’s beautiful nightmare. Destructoid - 8/10 Though The Sexy Brutale fumbles a few times -- especially near the end when it rushes toward a narrative payoff -- it never hurts the experience. Uncovering the mansion's secrets and the twisted plot that dooms its guests is exciting. Compared to almost any other puzzle game, The Sexy Brutale's dark tone and inspired art stand out from the crowd. Solving murder might not be the most cheerful work, but it's one hell of a good time. Wccftech - 8/10 While I may have some minor gripes with The Sexy Brutale, I think it’s a wonderful puzzle game, one that’ll really reward your time. The mansion is smartly designed, harking to the intelligently planned Spencer Mansion of Resident Evil, and the way you learn about characters is inspired by one of the most unique aspects of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. The Sexy Brutale has bombastic music, a great cast, and some very satisfying puzzles. While not outstanding, it’s well worth your time. Metro - 8/10 An inspired mix of graphic adventure and Majora’s Mask style time travel, that offers some of the year’s most inspired puzzle-solving VideoGamer - 8/10 The secret stories Father Lafcadio uncovers are lovely, but you won't always enjoy the process of uncovering them. Still, a series of elegant murders, with elegant stories, in an elegant mansion is enough to show anyone a good time. Time and time again...
