  1. So this is out in two months, the sequel to the greatest golf game ever made. I put many, many hours into the first and it became probably only the second game I legitimately got very good at. The new swing mechanic is all going to be tough, its based entirely on the tempo, so no more pauses after your backswing. Enhanced social elements to make multi-player easier, along with enhanced graphics, course creator, and its also been announced that all original TGC courses can be carried over to the new one. Day one for me.
  2. Looking forward to this as a distraction to Tetris 99. http://puyo.sega.com/champions/
  3. Systems: Pretty much everything Price: £15.99 Genre: Turn Based Strategy Remember Advance Wars? Remember your childlike C.O pitting your army against opposing enemies to sunny backdrops and jaunty music? Remember how it was (and still is, in my opinion) the best turn based strategy game around? Now remember how we haven't had a new game in the series in over 10 years? Nintendo, why do you hurt me so? Now enter Wargroove. Not so much a homage to Advance Wars, but an almost blatant rip off. This isn't a bad thing, though. If Nintendo won't work with the IP, at least someone is willing to take the mantle and run with it. Obviously, the biggest difference is the Medieval setting. So no tanks, then. Instead you have Ballistas. And Giants. And don't expect any aircraft. There be dragons here, instead. Plus, it expands massively on what Advance Wars started. 4 Player Multiplayer? Check. Online? Check. Create your own maps and share them online? Check. Essentially it looks like Advance Wars +++. Personally I would have been happy with Advance Wars +, but given the time spent on it (it was meant to be out over a year ago initially) and the obvious love the game has for predecessor, it seems like it might be something quite special. So when's it out? Today, hopefully! A shadow drop at the the end of the Nintendo Indie Direct is what we'd like. If not, it's definitely out soon, though. The developers have been all over Twitter, promising more information and a release VERY soon. I fully expect it it's not today, we will definitely have a date after the Direct. Just look at it! How could you not be excited?
  4. This year's AC edition for next gen. The screenshots don't look particularly next gen but looking at the controls that could be because they seem to be taken from the XB1 version. No idea what "Parkour up" and "Parkour down" means. There's also mention of a 360/ PS3 game coming separately.
  5. I've been aware of this game from Quebec-based nine dots for a little while but reading (in-store) a preview in PC Gamer this morning made me rather more interested. The game has some intriguing features and features a human "nobody" as Charname. couch and on-line co-op attention to detail on survival elements, you can't just scoff a dead animal no perma death - rather you are transported elsewhere on the map (potentially without your backpack - see below) no quick travel a spell crafting system which reminds me a bit of Two Worlds II, combing different ingredients or components to different ends auto-save only stamina cost to combat magic comes at the cost of lower health and stamina wearing a backpack hinders rolling away in combat
  6. I couldn't find a thread for this so apologies if a duplicate. After playing this at EGX last year I picked this up today for it's paltry budget price. If you liked Inside then just go buy Little Nightmares now. I'm I think about half way through and it is utterly brilliant. It's looking like being one of my favourites games so far this year and that's saying something given the year we've had already. Basically take Inside, a dash of Trapdoor, Little Big Planet and a dash of your childhood fears and you're there. I urge people to not watch spoilers and take the plunge. I just hope the rest holds up to what I've played so far. As info this runs at 60fps on PS4 Pro and at a higher res, looks fine on my standard model though.

  8. Has anyone tried this out yet? It's a cutesy and chaotic cooking game from Ghost Town Games, published by Team 17. Tasked with preparing meals for hungry customers, you and up to 3 friends have to work together to gather ingredients, chop them, fry them, put them in hot pots, avoid 'fire' accidents, wash up dirty plates, and satisfy all the punters' appetites. What's great about it, aside from how much anarchy and shouting there is when trying to coordinate everything with your team-mates, is that each of the stages (there's 28 or so) is in its own kitchen, and while these start off normal, you're soon cooking on a ship where the counter-tops sway to the other side, or somewhere prone to periodic earthquakes which raise the height of one side of the kitchen, etc. It's a really, really great co-op experience. Local only, though! No online as of yet, and single player is nowhere near as fun, so make sure you have someone else to play with. Reviews: http://arstechnica.co.uk/gaming/2016/08/overcooked-review-co-op-cooking-game/ http://www.telegraph.co.uk/gaming/what-to-play/overcooked-is-the-best-chaotic-co-operative-culinary-game-youve/ http://www.pcgamer.com/overcooked-review/ If you have someone else in your house/flat who can play it too (a significant other, perhaps...), fun times abound. It's genuinely excellent. £12.99 on PS4, presumably similar on other platforms.
  9. By Insomniac Games Official Site Release Date: Fall 2014 ABOUT Polygon Article VG24/7 Article Eurogamer Article IMAGES VIDEOS Glad to see they were able to match the visuals of the initial unveil, which I thought looked amazing last year. Based on the footage shown though I do hope the speed of the game is more akin of Vanquish. Even thoug it looks a ton of fun to play it does seem like the player is moving rather slow.

  11. First trailer: By voice actor for three dog. Sadly Obsidian are extremely unlikely to be involved given their kickstarter project and the whole metacritic bonus fiasco but whoop anyway! FO3 was still great.
  12. I'm not a fan of Dark Souls but I do enjoy seeing what publishers think they can get away with when it comes to the ultra expensive collectors edition. https://store.bandainamcoent.eu/uk/product/526642/dark-souls-trilogy-collector-s-edition-ps4?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ds-trilogy-announcement-19012019 All yours for just £449.99. I know there are a lot of Dark Souls fans on this forum, any takers?
  13. Just announced at Capcom Cup, a collection which includes Street Fighter 1, four iterations of Street Fighter II, the three Alpha games and all three Street Fighter IIIs. Online play for SFII', Super Turbo, Alpha 3 and 3rd Strike as well. Oooof. PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC. http://www.capcom-unity.com/strumslinger/blog/2017/12/10/celebrate-30-years-of-street-fighter-with-the-street-fighter-30th-anniversary-collection
  14. This looks intriguing, and only a week to the release of Episode 1.
  15. This got mentioned a few times in the PlayStation Network and Steam threads, but, by golly, it deserves its own thread. Just two hours in, and this Metroidvania has already sunk its fingernails well deep into my back. It's gorgeous, controls very well, and the second area is pretty much 2D Yharnam. (Actually, I'm kind of convinced it's deliberately meant to be nod towards Bloodborne.) Its RPG elements are very basic (you can equip passive and active buffs, and that's pretty much it, it seems) which is a relief, allowing you to focus on the platforming and the simple, yet satisfying Souls-like combat. It's an effing shame that I'm still not entirely through with Zelda and have another major release begging for my attention (and that's even beside the fact that it's a sin that this isn't getting a handheld release; this has Vita and even Switch written all over it) but, man, I can't wait to dive into this proper. Anyone else playing this?

  17. Long before the we wanted to go into battle on an island, the world was in big big trouble and only a few brave heroes could SAVE THE WORLD! Or something like that anyway. Fortnite was originally a PvE game and despite Battle Royale being the darling of the industry right now, this is still the meat of Epic's game... But what is it? Well I am too lazy to write stuff so this is from Wikipedia: Whilst the game does have micro-transactions and despite needing to pay to get access right now, the balancing seems pretty decent on the whole, with you being able to progress through the game just by playing and getting end of mission rewards. What's best though, the game is very generous with V-Bucks, meaning you can easily earn enough to buy a full season of Battle Royale within a few days. A few on the forum are really into it... you should be to. Media Our very own @robdood is the go to forum expert in this mode right now and you should check out his videos too. 18. I think this game is good enough to warrant it's own thread, I was surprised there wasn't one already. It just recently launched at mid price, 23 quid, on all the major platforms. It's been in early access as an open world survival game for ages. It now has a good story mode with 5 chapters, but only 2 have been released so far with the other 3 coming as free downloads. I put about 40 hours into the sandbox mode a few years back, but it's been overhauled since then and is now pretty beautiful and highly polished. If you like survival games, especially solo, this is the best one I've played. Highly atmospheric and scary at times. Just checked - rated very positive on steam with 25k reviews and 4.5/5 on xbox.
  19. I've been doing a weekly mini review on some smaller eshop games this last few weeks, in the hope of promoting some discussion about the games. I figured I'd spin off some of the posts into their own thread to see how interested others are. So here goes. This week: Night In The Woods Price: £17.09 Metacritic: 85% https://www.metacritic.com/game/switch/night-in-the-woods Also on: Pretty much everything. It's hard to really talk about Night In The Woods without going into spoiler territory. I can't even quantify what appeals about the game so much to me, really. You play as Mae, a young cat who returns home to her little town after dropping out of college. You rekindle old friendships, you attempt to talk with your disappointed parents, you wander around town, noticing how many places have closed down since you were last here, you poke at dismembered arms with sticks. The atmosphere reminds me of Animal Crossing if it was written by David Lynch. Things just don't seem quite right in this little town. What stands out about Night In The Woods is the dialogue. The core four main friends have easy, well written conversations that flow naturally. Oftentimes, this will slow the pace of the game down a bit as you end up listening to talk about what was on TV lastnight, but it really does aid the character development. And when the game takes a left turn about two thirds of the way through, you realise how important those conversations are. Honestly, I just enjoyed spending time in the world. At about 6-7 hours, it's not the longest game, But the feel of decay, of a town which is failing in the face of the modern world is so well realised. And it has a great story to tell.
  20. About time we had a thread for this so here goes. Official site In Forza Horizon, it seems to me the spirit of PGR lives on - racing which is always fun and as accessible or challenging as you wish to make it, all set in gorgeous surroundings to a rich soundtrack. After the US and the Riviera, we are off to Australia next, in a map that is twice as large. There seem to be many new features which weren't mentioned in the briefing - Co-op for the "campaign", Blueprints to create challenges, and Groove radio to stream your own music via Onedrive, to name a few. You are now in charge (hopefully this means some of the annoying voice overs will not feature). Hire and fire drivataars (that's me out for the count then). Scope for a Rllmuk club I would have thought; anyway I can't wait.
