    EA Access

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/07/29/ea-announces-subscription-service-on-xbox-one-ea-access I'm guessing that within a year every major publisher will thus ask for a similar subscription.
  2. Couldn't see a thread for this, so I thought I'd start one, cos it looks pretty nice. Shiness is an Action-RPG developed by indie development studio Enigami, which will let you travel in a captivating universe doomed to destruction ever since the fragmentation of the planet Mahera... Travel through an enthralling and interactive world as Chado and his 4 companions, and develop your characters Hyper-dynamic combat mixing magic with combos, parries, and blocks like a traditional arena fighter Develop 2 types of skills (physical attacks and magic) and unlock new talents and spells Explore and interact with a vast world made of multiple environments thanks to you and your companions’ special powers and skills Numerous quests and side-quests will give you the opportunity to develop your characters and their reputation Play as Chado and his companions, and travel across the Celestial Islands onboard a flying boat. After a rough landing on hostile territory, you find yourself in the midst of a power struggle between several kingdoms. Chado might be able to resolve this situation thanks to Shiness, a magical spirit that only he can see. Explore a large and captivating world with which you'll be able to interact thanks to the power of your 5 playable characters: crush a big rock using pure strength to enter a secret cave, or use telekinetic powers to activate some mechanisms and discover a back entry… During your journey, you'll meet dozens of dangerous enemies with whom you'll have to face off during hyper-dynamic fights mixing magic, and traditional fighting game mechanics (hit, block, combos…). Gain experience during those fights, while progressing in the storyline or by accomplishing numerous side quests. Evolve your characters, learn new skills and spells, and become the hero who will unify the civilizations of Mahera. ACG gave it a buy:

    Dark Souls 3

Coming Spring 2016 to Playstation 4, Xbone and PC. It's apparently going to be the final Dark Souls game and it just looks like it may well be set in Lordran.
  4. It looks like this is essentially Halo 6. https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/our-journey-begins
  5. And in other Halo news Halo: The Master Chief Collection coming to Xbox One this year, collects Halos 1-4 Well, if you like Halo and have somehow missed out I guess this is good news.

    Chime Sharp

Remember Chime? The music puzzle game for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC? No? Well, it was great! Not only was it great, a portion of it's early sales went to charity. I am pretty sure this was before the days of Humble Bundle too, so good on them. Made by Ste Curren and the team at Zoe Mode. Really it was bloody fantastic and up there with Droplitz as one of myt favourite puzzle games of the generation. Anyway, it has spawned a sequel after a successful Kickstarter campaign and for a while it was exclusive to PC, but it is now available on both PS4 and Xbox One. Get it now, it is really, REALLY good. PSN XBOX LIVE STEAM Now just add the original Chime to Xbox One backwards compatibility and we can all be happy!
  7. Fresh from the exceedingly grim atmosphere portrayed in Vampyr, here's another interesting, though very dark, prospect.
  8. New game by Assassin Creed creator Patrice Desilets Our first game is Ancestors : the Humankind Odyssey. Our game is a third person action-adventure survival episodic game. Through each episodes, we want the player to relive the greatest moments of mankind with a documentary twist. Our civilisation is one idea away from extinction... or evolution. Due for release in 2015
  9. This came out of nowhere and climbed straight to my top 5 most wanted games: I'm really loving the art style and the animation. Here's me hoping this will be as good as its presentation! It seems like the devs are fond of classic games. This easter egg should be familiar to most posters on here: Some more screenshots:
  10. First YAY Xbox. Second oh thank fuck it looks live they;ve dropped the "real world" military vibe of it and gone more to the classsic era.
  11. Has anyone been following this? Cryptic's up and coming new F2P mmo based on D&D and set in the updated Forgotten Realms. Also comes with a variant of Star Trek Online's adventure creation system so players can create their own stuff. http://nw.perfectworld.com/ There are so closed beta weekends going on (I'll be in the next one) and it looks pretty good so far.
  12. So this is out in two months, the sequel to the greatest golf game ever made. I put many, many hours into the first and it became probably only the second game I legitimately got very good at. The new swing mechanic is all going to be tough, its based entirely on the tempo, so no more pauses after your backswing. Enhanced social elements to make multi-player easier, along with enhanced graphics, course creator, and its also been announced that all original TGC courses can be carried over to the new one. Day one for me.
  13. Looking forward to this as a distraction to Tetris 99. http://puyo.sega.com/champions/
  14. Systems: Pretty much everything Price: £15.99 Genre: Turn Based Strategy Remember Advance Wars? Remember your childlike C.O pitting your army against opposing enemies to sunny backdrops and jaunty music? Remember how it was (and still is, in my opinion) the best turn based strategy game around? Now remember how we haven't had a new game in the series in over 10 years? Nintendo, why do you hurt me so? Now enter Wargroove. Not so much a homage to Advance Wars, but an almost blatant rip off. This isn't a bad thing, though. If Nintendo won't work with the IP, at least someone is willing to take the mantle and run with it. Obviously, the biggest difference is the Medieval setting. So no tanks, then. Instead you have Ballistas. And Giants. And don't expect any aircraft. There be dragons here, instead. Plus, it expands massively on what Advance Wars started. 4 Player Multiplayer? Check. Online? Check. Create your own maps and share them online? Check. Essentially it looks like Advance Wars +++. Personally I would have been happy with Advance Wars +, but given the time spent on it (it was meant to be out over a year ago initially) and the obvious love the game has for predecessor, it seems like it might be something quite special. So when's it out? Today, hopefully! A shadow drop at the the end of the Nintendo Indie Direct is what we'd like. If not, it's definitely out soon, though. The developers have been all over Twitter, promising more information and a release VERY soon. I fully expect it it's not today, we will definitely have a date after the Direct. Just look at it! How could you not be excited?
  15. This year's AC edition for next gen. The screenshots don't look particularly next gen but looking at the controls that could be because they seem to be taken from the XB1 version. No idea what "Parkour up" and "Parkour down" means. There's also mention of a 360/ PS3 game coming separately.
  16. I've been aware of this game from Quebec-based nine dots for a little while but reading (in-store) a preview in PC Gamer this morning made me rather more interested. The game has some intriguing features and features a human "nobody" as Charname. couch and on-line co-op attention to detail on survival elements, you can't just scoff a dead animal no perma death - rather you are transported elsewhere on the map (potentially without your backpack - see below) no quick travel a spell crafting system which reminds me a bit of Two Worlds II, combing different ingredients or components to different ends auto-save only stamina cost to combat magic comes at the cost of lower health and stamina wearing a backpack hinders rolling away in combat
  17. I couldn't find a thread for this so apologies if a duplicate. After playing this at EGX last year I picked this up today for it's paltry budget price. If you liked Inside then just go buy Little Nightmares now. I'm I think about half way through and it is utterly brilliant. It's looking like being one of my favourites games so far this year and that's saying something given the year we've had already. Basically take Inside, a dash of Trapdoor, Little Big Planet and a dash of your childhood fears and you're there. I urge people to not watch spoilers and take the plunge. I just hope the rest holds up to what I've played so far. As info this runs at 60fps on PS4 Pro and at a higher res, looks fine on my standard model though.

    For Honor

Did search but couldn't find a topic for this Closed beta starts today - I presume a few of us are on it?
  19. Has anyone tried this out yet? It's a cutesy and chaotic cooking game from Ghost Town Games, published by Team 17. Tasked with preparing meals for hungry customers, you and up to 3 friends have to work together to gather ingredients, chop them, fry them, put them in hot pots, avoid 'fire' accidents, wash up dirty plates, and satisfy all the punters' appetites. What's great about it, aside from how much anarchy and shouting there is when trying to coordinate everything with your team-mates, is that each of the stages (there's 28 or so) is in its own kitchen, and while these start off normal, you're soon cooking on a ship where the counter-tops sway to the other side, or somewhere prone to periodic earthquakes which raise the height of one side of the kitchen, etc. It's a really, really great co-op experience. Local only, though! No online as of yet, and single player is nowhere near as fun, so make sure you have someone else to play with. Reviews: http://arstechnica.co.uk/gaming/2016/08/overcooked-review-co-op-cooking-game/ http://www.telegraph.co.uk/gaming/what-to-play/overcooked-is-the-best-chaotic-co-operative-culinary-game-youve/ http://www.pcgamer.com/overcooked-review/ If you have someone else in your house/flat who can play it too (a significant other, perhaps...), fun times abound. It's genuinely excellent. £12.99 on PS4, presumably similar on other platforms.
  20. I got my Steam key this morning! Who else is jumping in? http://www.causalbitgames.com/our-games/battle-princess-madelyn/
  21. By Insomniac Games Official Site Release Date: Fall 2014 ABOUT Polygon Article VG24/7 Article Eurogamer Article IMAGES VIDEOS Glad to see they were able to match the visuals of the initial unveil, which I thought looked amazing last year. Based on the footage shown though I do hope the speed of the game is more akin of Vanquish. Even thoug it looks a ton of fun to play it does seem like the player is moving rather slow.
