  1. It's HBO, so there's reason for hope, right? It's only early in talks, but Damon Lindelof, fresh off The Leftovers, is currently attached too.
  2. Batwoman is coming to the "Arrowverse". It's not certain of being its own show yet, but they are casting the character for a crossover event in December with a view to spinning her out to her own show. It's being developed by Greg Berlanti, of all the other shows, and Caroline Dries, of The Vampire Diaries.
  3. Greg Berlanti and DC Universe (DC's upcoming streaming service) are making a live action Doom Patrol series. It's ordered direct-to-series, with 13 episodes. Apparently it also gives Berlanti a new record of 14 shows airing.
  4. https://deadline.com/2019/05/marvel-hulu-live-action-ghost-rider-helstrom-series-1202604999/ Another Marvel show coming to Hulu. The article mentions it seems to be based on the Daimon Hellstrom comic character, who I can't say I'm familiar with.
  5. https://deadline.com/2020/09/peacemaker-james-gunn-john-cena-dc-hbo-max-tv-1234582582/ Peacemaker, as played by John Cena in The Suicide Squad, is coming to HBO Max. The whole 8-episode first season will be written by James Gunn and several episodes directed by him.
  6. Netflix are making a prequel to The Dark Crystal. It's a 10 part series, produced by The Jim Henson Company with Louis Leterrier directing. *sploosh* [edit] A bit more detail
  7. This is a new sci-fi series on USA. It stars Rick's dead wife from Walking Dead and Sawyer from Lost. It's created by Cartlon Cuse. It definitely has a 'Lost' vibe to it, very similarly shot and very similar feel in that loads of stuff is hidden to you, and information about what's going on is on a drip feed. The pilot is out there, and the second episode is on in the US tonight. I really liked the pilot, and was all set to hate it. Great world building and visual effects, and good acting. Interested to see where it goes.
  8. https://deadline.com/2019/06/jurassic-world-camp-cretaceous-netflix-animated-series-1202626611/ Netflix and Dreamworks Animation are doing a show set on the other side of Isla Nublar in the timeline of the Jurassic World movie. 6 teenagers are at a special adventure camp on the island when the dinosaurs break loose. Coming in 2020.
  9. I'd been seeing stories for a while about a new DC Universe Harley Quinn cartoon but didn't pay much attention. I just knew Penny off Big Bang Theory was playing the main role. Happened upon a trailer this morning and it's not what I expected, being full of swearing and violence. They've assembled a pretty impressive cast too Kaley Cuoco as Harley Alan Tudyk as Joker and Clayface Diedrich Bader as Batman Jason Alexander as Cy Borgman Christopher Meloni as James Gordon Tony Hale as Doctor Psycho and Felix Faust Giancarlo Esposito as Lex Luthor
  10. It was mentioned in the movie thread a while ago, but there's some more concrete plans coming together for the TV version now. Clement and Waititi are both involved, with Clement writing and Waititi directing. Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillen have been cast. Just a pilot order for now.
  11. Due to more arguments in the big GoT thread about what should and shouldn't be in that thread and whether it was working or not I have decided to start this. Sorry for diluting the chat and making another GoT thread. Here is my post from the other thread which a few people seemed to agree with and forms the basis for this thread. I don't care if something is exactly the same as the book, completely different or whatever. If this isn't how you would like to discuss the show please open a "Game of Thrones-Books read up to current episode" thread. Please leave this thread totally book free.
  12. http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/robert-downey-jr-nic-pizzolatto-hbo-tv-1201836724/ Robert Downey Jr. had been trying to get a Perry Mason movie going at WB for a few years, but now it looks like it'll happen as a series at HBO, with True Detective's Nic Pizzolatto involved.
  13. Amazon have greenlit a Jack Reacher series. No casting news yet, but the first season will be based on the first novel, The Killing Floor. It'll be written by Nick Santora (of, erm, Scorpion and Prison Break), who will also be showrunner.
  14. Thought it was worth separating discussion of the upcoming TV show from The Avengers thread as it's now been given an official title and synopsis and more news/pictures/video should start trickling out over the coming weeks. A new piece of news that's just come out is that J. August Richards (Gunn from Angel) has also been cast in a 'secret' role. Let the speculation begin. My wild guess, maybe Luke Cage, that's a character that would allow them to add some superpowers to the mix but one who might not support a film in their own right.
  15. Fox are doing an animated comedy spin-off for The X-Files. From Rocky Russo and Jeremy Sosenko, who are writers on Paradise PD and Brickleberry. I've not seen either of those. It's about an X-Files office who investigate cases which are basically beneath Mulder and Scully. And to think of the depths they've plumbed...
  16. From the studio that brought you the best Resident Evil movie series starring Milla Jojovich OF ALL TIME and Netfix. Not a lot of detail yet, but they plan to do exciting things such as "expand the universe" and "deepen the existing mythology". It'll explore the dark inner workings of Umbrella Corporation and the new world order. The latter are wrestlers, right?
  17. https://deadline.com/2020/08/sphere-drama-series-book-michael-crichton-hbo-denise-the-1203024878/ HBO are to make a series of Michael Crichton’s Sphere, previously made as a movie in 1998. It's being produced by the producers of Westworld along with Team Downey. I've only seen the movie, so I don't know if it's much different from the book.
  18. Personally enjoyed it. The bin burp and the severed arm wrestling were a bit shit, but otherwise it worked well as an introduction to the characters. Some people have criticized the somewhat hectic pace of the story but I personally feel that the whole intent was to introduce Rose and the Doctor and having her get caught up in the action right from the beginning allowed this to happen with plenty of pace. I don't think that a detailed story PLUS the introduction of the characters would've worked if they'd tried to squeeze it all into the first 45 minute episode. My 10 yr old son sat glued to t
  19. Another show joining the DC Universe shows. Not sure it'll be connected to Titans or Doom Patrol. This one involves the Justice Society of America. Brec Bassinger is in the title role and her alter-ego Courtney Whitmore. Also Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan, pilot of Stripe, a 15-foot robot he invented. Lou Ferrigno Jr. as Rex Tyler/Hourman, Brian Stapf as Ted Grant/Wildcat, Henry Thomas as Charles McNider/Dr Mid-Nite. Amy Smart also playing Barbara Whitmore, Courtney's mother and Pat Dugan's new wife. Also Joy Osmanski, Neil Hopkins and Nelson Lee as Tigress, Sportsmaster and Dragon King
  20. They're giving a live-action Avatar another go, after that movie which doesn't exist. It's being run by the original animated show's creators/showrunners and will be on Netflix, in partnership with Nickelodeon. They specifically mention a culturally-appropriate, non-whitewashed cast and that Netflix are backing them in their vision to go even deeper into the characters, story, action, and world-building. Also this concept art
  21. Hollywood, that hive of creativity, is bringing back another old show. Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano reprising their roles, with Milano now a single mum living in the original house.
  22. This'll probably go down like a lead balloon. It's already a classic and has an English dub regarded as exemplary. Can they possibly make any improvements? It's coming from a studio that also feels the need to remake Snowpiercer.
  23. http://variety.com/2018/tv/news/simon-pegg-nick-frost-stolen-picture-tuth-seekers-1202668059/ After Slaughterhouse Rulez, the next project from their own Stolen Picture company is Truth Seekers. It's a half-hour comedy-horror series about three paranormal investigators. Each episode will be focused on a different incident. Pegg says it starts off as a parochial little business but becomes something more global. They also mention developing a film about a double act who haven't spoken for decades and reunite one last time. All that makes me think is "It won't be half as
  24. Amazon have picked up Greg Daniels Upload, described as a sci-fi romantic satire. Stars Andy Allo and Robbie Amell.
  25. Not a lot to go on yet, but it may be notable for being co-created by Irvine Walsh and Bret Easton Ellis.
