  1. I couldn't find a topic on it but feel free to merge if it turns out there is one after all. No one else watching this? I'm really enjoying it. It's a TV show about a girls football team that's in a plane crash in the 90's and has to survive in the wilderness. The show alternates between then and now and it's about what happened in the time they spent in the wild and new eventus in the present. There's of Lord of the Flies stuff going on, with possibly worse (and supernatural?) things. It's currently sitting on a 100% critic rating on rotten tomatoes. It's better than I thought it would be after the first episode. I liked that but was afraid it wouldn't deliver a satisfying experience. It's actually a lot slower than I thought at first too, which is nice. The characters get time to develop and the mystery to build up. I'm not really convinced by the young/old actors, some of them don't match at all (especially Juliette Lewis and the girl who plays the young version of her character) but after a while you just accept it. I guess the best endorsement I can give is that I've been checking to see if a new episode is out frequently, despite having loads of other stuff on the go. The trailer is pretty spoiler safe, it's mostly stuff from the first episode.
  2. With The Last of Us seemingly being a huge hit with both fans of the game, newcomers and critics, I was toying around with the idea that we probably have quite a few gaming IPs that could work as a TV show if given the right treatment. If you could choose one franchise to be given a proper treatment for a TV show, what franchise would you pick and what would the format be (self contained mini series, seasonal, 25 minute or 1h eps etc)? I think there are many gaming franchises that could work, even for a non-gaming audience (just like The Last of Us) and I'd love to see quite a few of them. Overall, though, I think my first pick would go to Silent Hill. I just love the general vibe the games has, the atmosphere and the various wtf moments. I'd love to see it made as a Horror/Mystery show, 10 episodes running at 1h each with a conclusion at the end. I'd be open for multiple seasons but I'd rather each season was its own thing.
  3. Cora Tinnetti (Jessica Biel) is a loving wife and mother who suddenly kills a male beach goer in cold blood for unknown reasons. Why did she do it? Husband Mason (Christopher Abbott) doesn't know why his wife snapped. Neither does Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman), who can't get a straight answer. Even Cora can't explain it. A murder mystery that must be solved. Watched Part 1 of this last night. Jessica Biel is really excellent in this (probably the best I've ever seen her act) and I'm interested in seeing where it goes. I do think they're maybe making it a little obvious that
  4. "A neurotic mid 20's suburbanite's convinced he's destined to be one of the greatest rappers of all time. Now he's got to prove it to everyone else." Dave is an American comedy television series that premiered on FXX on March 4, 2020, co-created by rapper/comedian Lil Dicky, who plays the titular character, and Jeff Schaffer.[1] Kevin Hart and Greg Mottola form part of the production team for the series. Mottola also directed several episodes of the first season. On May 11, 2020, the series was renewed for second season.[2] Lil Dicky's real-life hype-man GaTa, plays himself. GaTa, in the TV series and in real-life, lives with bipolar disorder.[3] https://www.justwatch.com/uk/tv-series/dave https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/p08b9fpl/dave --------------------------------------------------- I've just seen that the second series is out, and I remembered that I hadn't seen a topic for the show yet, I really enjoy the music of Lil' Dicky and the TV show was a no-brainer for me. I really enjoyed the first series, and I am looking forward to getting stuck into the second. Not everyone's cup of tea but if you want to try something new then i recommend it!
  5. Storyline Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne star in "Carnival Row," a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose rich homelands were invaded by the empires of man. This growing immigrant population struggles to coexist with humans in the grimiest section of the city -- forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom. But even in darkness, hope lives, as a human detective, Rycroft Philostrate, and a refugee faerie named Vignette Stonemoss rekindle a dangerous affair despite an increasingly intolerant society. Vignette harbors a secret that endangers Philo's standing during his most important case yet: a string of gruesome murders threatening the uneasy peace of the Row. As Philo investigates, he reveals a monster no one could imagine. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0489974/
