  1. Look at this shit. Just look at it: What a time to be alive!
  2. First YAY Xbox. Second oh thank fuck it looks live they;ve dropped the "real world" military vibe of it and gone more to the classsic era.
  3. https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2019/12/17/introducing-the-dualshock-4-back-button-attachment-out-14th-february/#sf226281113 I am not a pro gamer and so do not own any pro gamer controllers. However I have been told that having some buttons on the back, where your fingers probably don't exactly sit at the moment, can be very useful in games like Rocket League where you want to boost, jump, drift and send "What a save" at the same time. So now you can buy an ugly-as-sin attachment to the standard DS4 to stop you spending £428 on a customised third-party controller. And throw away your chatpad as well.

    Dying Light

From Eurogamer: Resized pics below (full fat ones at the link above): Looks pretty nice. Mirror's Edge was amazing and Dead Island was lovably shonky so I'll be following this one with interest.
  7. New P5 game just announced for the PS4 and Switch, a musou style game from Atlus and Koei Tecmo. New thread to allow the other P5 one to stay on the original game and The Royal First Trailer below.

Official patch notes: https://www.nomanssky.com/next-update/ Trailer NEXT is the latest, free update to No Man's Sky. This builds upon the three previous updates: Foundation, Path Finder, and Atlas Rising. The major additions with NEXT are: Here's a NEXT preview by Eurogamer. Other notable new features: Resources for New and Returning Players How do I...? Rocket jump: Tap melee and jetpack in quick succession and you'll perform a boosted rocket jump that moves you a fair amount forward. Bear in mind that this causes life support to drop quicker than usual (as does any use of jetpack), for a split second, which is critical if you're playing Permadeath or Survival mode. Toggle first person/3rd person view: press down on the d-pad and scroll left or right until you come to the camera options. Note: there are separate toggles for flight and while on foot. If you toggled 3rd person while walking, you'll have to do it again while flying if you want 3rd person for both. Get a freighter: given this is kinda part of normal progression, I'll put it in a spoiler. It's not really a spoiler, per se Get nanites: Call up your scanner while on foot and scan flora and fauna. Go to the Discoveries tab in Options (PS4 pad) and upload the discovery to get nanites. Nanites no longer take up inventory space, and it's much easier to get them. General FAQs Eurogamer guide for new players (seems pretty comprehensive)

    Rocket League

Football with cars! I'm sure I've seen this tried a few times but this looks like it works - I predict this is going to be massive! It's certainly very fun to watch. PSN owners get it free and I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to get the Steam version too.

  12. Did a search for a topic on this but couldn't find one. Maybe not a surprise considering I've seen two videos so far, saying they'd not really heard of it before the last month. This is developed by Gunfire Games and mashes together a few genres. It's part souls, part Borderlands and a bit rogue-like. You can play online with up to three others or play solo, completely offline. It looks to have highly customisable characters, no micro transactions, with a promise of paid and free DLC. The gunplay looks pretty good though the locations seem quite sparse. There's the promise of 40+ weapons, excluding Melee. Over 100 enemy types and 20-30 bosses.
  13. Playstation Experience saw Mizuguchi on stage, dressed in a vibrating Tron suit to announce Rez Infinite, from the little we saw it seems to be old Rez with a bit of new stuff added and VR support to make you fall over and do a sick down your front. And it will be the best sick you have ever done.
  14. Coming to Kickstarter soon. This blog post is slightly unpleasant in its begging but just you try not to be excited! http://www.codemonkey.me.uk/view_blog_entry.php?blog_entry_id=133
  15. I know we have dedicated next-gen threads, but I started a fresh one for this because at this point in the cycle any specific discussions will end up buried under the avalanche of ZOMG MY STATUS JUST CHANGED TO PUTTING STAMPS ON THE PARCEL!!! The headset that comes with the PS4 looks like it was made by Blue Peter, the Xbone headset looks better but I up imagine a lot will want to replace with their own. What recommendations do people have for decent headsets to use with next-gen. I understand that the PS4 will use pretty much any headset as long as it has the right jack. Anyone have any recommendations for a decent over-one-ear + mic model (as I still want to hear the game audio through the TV)?
  16. Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark Price: £19.99 (ish - varies on which store) Genre: SRPG Metacritic: 86% This has quite possibly the worst title for a game, ever. Seriously - it's awful. But as far as turned based SRPG's go, it's really good. It's Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, basically. But as Square show little interest in bringing that back, this will have to do. The story is generic as they come (An Immortal Council choose you as an agent to bring peace to the land...), but it plays a really decent turned based game. Combat is pretty straightforward, but there's a great job tree and character creation and customisation tools and I've spent far too long making characters for my squad. Some of the later classes look massively overpowered, but it'll take a while to get to them. Honestly, the only reason I'm making this thread is because the game reminds me so much of FFTA with bits of Disgaea thrown in. I bought the Switch version yesterday (40% off in the sale this week!) and I've out about 4 hours in since. There seems to be such a shortage of good turn based SRPGs recently, that I thought I'd share the love.

  21. Timmo

    Spelunky

This is currently 88 on Metacritic and Eurogamer have given it 10/10. It's also highly replayable so I think it warrants its own thread. It's based on the indie PC game and is essentially a rough cross between Indiana Jones, Mario and a Roguelike. It's out today and I can't wait to play it. I'm thinking of getting a fightpad or one of the new silver pads with the improved D-pad. Can anyone say which is the better option? I'm expecting glowing impressions throughout the day so I can get more excited while I wait for my mum to pick me up. Don't let me down lads.
  22. The above trailer is pretty... Surprised there hasn't been any interest in this title on here, given the popularity of the Zero Escape series. Written and directed by Kotaro Uchikoshi, it's basically the Jennifer Lopez film 'The Cell', in game form. You play a detective who solves crimes by entering the dreams of others. And like that film, it's pretty grisly. Outside of the trailer, I've been pretty much on blackout for this. It looks right up my street and I'll be day one on its release on July 26th.
  23. Bought this on a whim after seeing a video for it on the Switch news channel - I’m playing it on Switch. I don’t know what’s going on but holy shit does it look good. Few frame drops here and there but pretty pin sharp in handheld otherwise. It’s an arena fighter, a bit like Power Stone or Kill La Kill If (the latter I also had on switch but this is a lot better and has bags more content). In style terms and with the bonkers Japanese voices it’s like an arena version of Dragonball Fighterz. I don’t have any experience with the Manga/Anime it’s based on - My Hero Acadamia - but I like the style. I’ll have to play a lot more to see what sort of depth is there but having a blast right now.
  24. I am suggesting that we start a new thread on Modern Warfare's Warzone - the new Battle Royale mode that launches today. Since the mode is free to play, cross platform and the lifecycle will seemingly go way beyond the main game, I think it makes sense. IMO, this is looking mighty tasty. I have watched a lot of in-depth videos last night and this morning and I haven't been this hyped for a BR in a while. Here's a few that showcase a lot of details on how the main mode works, what you can buy for in-game cash, etc. We're also going to find out about another mode called Plunder later today. HYYYYYYPED!!!
  25. this seems up a lot of our streets, doing drift turns and so on.
