As an aside, I'm happy that Rhythm Doctor is becoming a full game - I S-ranked everything in the web version and enjoyed it enough to throw a donation at the maker I was expecting a Labo cover story and exclusive blowout considering their luxury of monthly issues, but I'm guessing they need time to get facts and publish a good story rather than the mad hype that's going around the internet?
  2. Amnesia: The Dark Descent developers Frictional Games have announced their upcoming horror game, SOMA, due in 2015 for the PC and PS4. This is what they've been working on while they let The Chinese Room play ghost stories with A Machine for Pigs: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-10-11-amnesia-dev-reveals-soma-for-pc-and-playstation-4
  3. Published yesterday by Devolver and developed by Reikon games Ruiner is fundamentally a twin stick shooter but with some interesting twists. It’s a futuristic Neo-Tokyo anime crossed with Rockstars Manhunt. It’s very violent and appears to be very hard but I’ve already noticed revisiting areas more “in the know” yields very satisfying improvements in your performance (every combat “bowl” is graded once you’ve murdered everyone) Prologue playthrough: It’s around £16 on xbox UK store not sure about other platforms/stores.

  5. So that's that then.
  6. So now we know where those 360 backwards compatible games disappeared to.. Since you all love remasters you can enjoy these again on the 13th of September [UK date] for PC, PS4 and Xbox One!
  7. Cinematic Trailer Gameplay Trailer You can apply for the Beta and unlock unique in-game cards on the website. Assuming you care enough to do so I think it looks and sounds quite promising. There are a few "hero shooters" on the horizon now but I think Paragon is the only one to embrace the traditional MOBA gameplay so it stands out in that regard at least. I'm also hopeful that Epic should be able to deliver some solid gameplay so I think it's one to watch at least.
  8. Probably coming out on the Vita as well. Still need to get a Vita first...

Not confirmed, but almost certainly what it appears to be: Uncharted 1-3 for PS4. The world's most charismatic mass-murdering platform-clambering rogue, all the ammo you can imagine, and every goon and henchman in the world, together at last.
  10. Surprised I couldn't find a thread on this, even though it was announced back in April. Anyway, introducing "Zwei" (project title), the new survival horror game by survival horror's greatest director Shinji Mikami. The game's being developed by Mikami's own studio Tango Gameworks, in co-operation with Bethesda Softworks. Besides this, not much else is known about this project which should hit the shelves somewhere in late 2013. This is how the studio is pitching the whole thing: This is what the man himself had to say about his latest brainchild: Artwork: Debut teaser trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zc-jvqJV4SI TGS 2013 trailer: TGS 2014 trailer: Launch trailer:
  11. Just seen this while browsing, must say quite tempted. http://www.tinymetal.com/ http://store.steampowered.com/app/751500/TINY_METAL/ One thing to be aware of, apparentlythe directoir Hiroaki Yura is accused of embezzling £750,000 from the Kickstarter campaign for the Project Phoenix to pay for the development of this game. Seem to be reviewing well on the Switch as well.

    Dirt 4

DiRT 4 features a game-changing system called Your Stage; an innovative rally route creation tool that allows you to produce an almost-infinite number of unique stages at the press of a button. You choose your location and set the route parameters, then Your Stage does the hard work to create a unique rally stage that you can race, share with your friends, and then challenge them to beat your time. Your Stage allows experienced rally players to create longer, more technical routes, whilst newcomers can create simpler shorter routes as they hone their skills. With DiRT 4, we’ve sought to combine the levels of thrill and realism from last year’s DiRT Rally with the fearless excitement, fun, and adrenaline-fuelled races previously seen in its critically acclaimed prequels DiRT 2 and DiRT 3. Featuring classic rally racing that continues to build on the foundations set by the Colin McRae Rally games, the brutal, fast-paced racing from the official FIA World Rallycross Championship, the crazy battles of racing trucks and buggies, and the outrageous fun of open events in Joyride, players will face challenges from locations that span three continents.
  13. Surprised that there isn't already an official thread for this. I loved Bastion but it was relatively shallow in terms of gameplay. Transistor looked way too complicated but then I got it free on PS+ and thought it was amazing, so this is getting bought day one. It's been compared to NBA Jam, but according to a PS blog post, it's a party based RPG. It's also their first game to include a multiplayer mode. And the plot is supposed to be the most ambitious they've done to date, so I'm sold. And it's also non-linear, if you like that kind of thing. Win or lose, you continue to progress through the story, with different outcomes. 10% Preorders at the moment. Steam - £13.49 PS4 - £14.39 Hopefully it'll come to Xbox One at some point, too.
  14. Still got this on Steam and replayed it a few months back, actually holds up pretty well. Wonder if it;ll be anything more than just a graphical overhaul. Still should be decent.
  15. Capcom have confirmed this morning that three previous Dead Rising games are all being remastered for release later this year! Dead Rising - PS4 | Xbox One | PC Dead Rising 2 - PS4 | Xbox One Dead Rising 2 Off the Record - PS4 | Xbox One It's expected that they will be released singularly like the recent Resi remasters rather than in a collection. Capcom have only indicated so far that the first DR will receive a PC port.
  16. I discovered this by watching a Matt Lees vid, it's neat! By the chap what made Ben There, Dan That. Youtube of Matt Lees' Let's Play: What is it? It's a platformer roguelike, in which you rob money from procedurally generated houses / warehouses etc over the course of a 100 day end-game time limit. Oh and it's steampunk London and has brilliant music. As you rob places, you'll find money laying about (relatively small amounts) and computers to hack (relatively large amounts). If your character dies, or you complete a heist by returning to base, a day passes. Enemies in the stage are lethal but low risk (it's not really Mark of the Ninja levels of stealth initially, but it doesn't really need it) When you are spotted, the police are alerted and reach the level within a (seemingly random) amount of time. The police have guns and can kill you instantly; but you still have a chance of getting back to your escape pod to keep the money you've nabbed. Hell, you can even continue robbing a level for a short while before things get dangerous. You decide when to leave a level; it's not always possible to reach every bit of cash when visiting a level, and you can land yourself in situations impossible to escape. You use the quids you steal (literal use of pounds as a game currency, btw ) to upgrade your thieves with better abilities and get more stealing options. Very basic examples of these are capability to hack doors, or unlocking new districts in the city to visit. The progression of difficulty is ace, as it seems to work both on the time passed (i.e. certain enemies appear once you've reached a number of days left) and on location (i.e. second area has new tech preventing easy entry to buildings). It's fucking sweet, basically. Lessons Learned I want to keep a journal of the lessons I learn while playing this, consider them 'noob tips' but you may not want to read this spoiler if you enjoy working this stuff out yourself: Reviews: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-07-27-the-swindle-review http://www.pcgamer.com/the-swindle-review/ http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/PS+Vita/The+Swindle/review.asp?c=66715 Steam Page: http://steamcommunity.com/app/369110 Out now, 10.19 on Steam until Aug 4th. 18. So I've had to update this topic a bit, as I've ended up getting my wires crossed and there are indeed two Road Rash style games peeking over the horizon. The first is the rather excellent looking Road Redemption, which has been a Steam Early Access hit, looks fabulous and is now available on PC & Mac via Steam and is planned for consoles later in 2018, the second is Road Rage, a console game launching for consoles on October 24th and is up for pre-order with Amazon having it available on PS4 and Xbox One for just £16.99. Both games seem to be touting much the same features, open world, lots of missions, campaign mode and of course, biker combat. Road Redemption is the clear winner of the two though, fluid looking play, more interesting maps, better art and more bikes on the road. Road Rage is set in a Detroit style abandoned city, where gangs have taken over and in order to survive, you aim to join and lead one. Your actions in the game will change how the narrative plays out, but it looks more like a trip down the streets of Saints Row than a big, ambitious open world. Road Redemption is also an open world game which is backed by a story based campaign. This time the game tasks you to rescue a fellow biker who was captured, after his failed assassination attempt of the despot who runs the now post apocalyptic world. The setting will take you across desserts, cities and frozen wastes. From the videos I've seen, it looks like a hoot. Off road driving seems common with bikes regularly seen jumping from the tops of skyscrapers and across open desserts. It actually reminded me a touch of Motorstorm: Apocalypse in how wonderfully off road it all seems. The combat has been sufficiently ramped up since the 16 bit glory days, with guns, swords, chains, pipes, viking axes and the classic kick move all ensuring that the bike combat remains a big part of the games focus. There's a cracking review of it from Lord Ridiculous, which should give you a good feel for what the game is offering: This looks like a no-brainer for fans of Road Rash, and PC and Mac users can grab a copy today. Console gamers will have to hold out to see if Road Rage defies expectations and is worth a punt whilst waiting for Road Redemption in 2018. For what it's worth, unless truly appalling reviews begin to drip out, the super low price point represents a low enough risk that I don't mind giving it a go.

  20. [Currently undergoing a rethink]
  21. I noticed there seems to be a few Raid teams who are a little short on numbers from time-to-time, so I quickly knocked up a spreadsheet where everyone can add their preferences and availability so it may be a little easier filling out spaces. Destiny 2 Player List

  23. We already knew about EDF 5 (it's now due for release in Japan on 7th December 2017..) it's developed by Sandlot (as usual, using the same engine and aside from some new enemies, stages, refined classes etc is much the same as 4.1) Latest trailer: However we also have two brand new titles announced.. 'Earth Defence Force 4.1 Wing Diver - The Shooter' As the very specific title implies - it's a vertical shmup set in the EDF universe featuring the Wing Diver class.. But the bigger news is that we've a whole new game produced by another company on the way.. Seemingly in a similar arrangement to how Insect Armageddon was produced.. However, this time - rather than farming it out to a US company, Japanese developer Yukes - best known for the Pro Wrestling and WWE titles will be taking the reigns and utilising the Unreal Engine to develop 'Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain' for D3..
  24. This looks incredible they even have Hideki Naganuma on sonics. On steam now, consoles soon. http://store.steampowered.com/app/280180/Hover__Revolt_Of_Gamers/
