  1. I need to work out my albums of the last decade, in the meantime January has already delivered these bangers. Can’t believe it’s been three years since the last Destroyer album
  2. I stumbled upon Dibidim a couple of years ago when their 2006 debut album popped up on my Soundcloud feed. I thought it was a really strong collection of quirky electronic pop songs and I listened to it loads. My favourite track would be Don't Play With The Gun (for the joyous melody that plays through the second half) but there's not a bad track on there really. Listening again recently, I was yearning for more. There's been no further releases as Dibidim, so I looked up those involved and found that one half of the group had written, produced and performed an album in 2016 under the name Lovespeake. I tracked it down and found another great pop album, this time slightly less electronic and more 'classic' sounding - think smooth 70s/80s pop with a hint of disco. Here's the singles, which are both great.

    Annie!

Looked for an Annie topic and couldn't see one. Surprised. Anyway, she's had a bit of a comeback this year after a break of 5 years since Don't Stop and 10 years since Anniemal Tube Stops & Lonely Hearts (Annie/Xenomania/Ville Haimala) Released in May this is Annie's tribute to rave culture of the 90's. Suitably cheap video of kaleidoscope effects and fitness freaks. Take A Look At The World (Annie/Ralph Myerz/Royksopp) Released about a month ago, this is a track on Ralph Myerz new album that sounds more typically Annie. Lots of nice rhyming cuplets and that yeah that is left hanging is great. A&R EP Out in August this will be brilliant no doubt. Collaboration between Annie and Richard X and the cover art is amazing: Yes it's getting a vinyl release. Tracks are avaliable for streaming and it sound great. Very much like the tropico/balearic feel of the second track. Back Together (Annie/Richard X/Little Boots) Hold On (Annie/Richard X/Hannah Robinson) Ralph Macchio (Annie/Richard X) Invisible (Annie/Richard X) Mixed Emotions (Annie/Richard X) Annie's back!

    Tesla Boy

I was convinced that we had a thread for Tesla Boy but it looks like we don't. If you like 80's pop, Tesla Boy are ace! Very snyth-heavy catchy pop music, the sort of which doesn't get made anymore, or if it does its little more than pastiche or nostalgic. They remind me a lot of Zoot Woman but without the pretentiousness. History - First LP - Modern Thrills I think it was the Valerie blog that first picked up on them in 2009 and put them on a compilation. An EP followed on Mullet Records and then it took another year for the album to come around. Still listen to this regularly as it's perfect for late-night drive-time. (Amazon Link) Latest Material http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-8idu5PIOU Watched this great 20 minute performance from russian tv this morning - songs are M.C.H.T.E, Fantasy, Neon Love and 1991 which all (apart from Neon Love) should be on the 2nd album. I especially liked for "1991" how they got two girls in to mime over the Loleatta Hollaway-esq sample. Fakery for authenticity there! tracks released since 2010: In Your Eyes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLaOaobHyfg&list=PL2DA19F4364AB468B Split Another Light Fantasy ( )
