Paul Thomas Anderson directs and Thom Yorke scores a short musical film on Netflix. Apparently goes alongside Yorke's upcoming album of the same name. They say it's a "mind-bending visual piece, best played loud." Coming on 27 June.

Dreamworks and Netflix have another new animated show coming. On paper, it sort of looks like it's aiming at an Adventure Time area, though it can't really compete with that. It's about a girl, Kipo, in a post-apocalyptic Earth. She and some other survivors go on some sort of adventure and have to contend with adorable creatures trying to kill them.

He literally says "There are no handcuffs on me at all with this one". It's a heist movie set during a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas. A group of mercenaries are gathered to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted, inside the quarantined zone. Visionary.

From the studio that brought you the best Resident Evil movie series starring Milla Jojovich OF ALL TIME and Netfix. Not a lot of detail yet, but they plan to do exciting things such as "expand the universe" and "deepen the existing mythology". It'll explore the dark inner workings of Umbrella Corporation and the new world order. The latter are wrestlers, right?

New workplace comedy based on Donald Trump's announcement of a new Space Force. That's where we are now. Created by Steve Carell and Greg Daniels of The Office (US version) and starring Carell. It's about the people tasked with creating the Space Force after the announcement.

Netflix always seem to do something for Christmas and this year Kurt Russel is Santa in a movie produced by Chris Columbus. It's coming on 22 November. Two kids want to catch Santa on camera but it ends with him crashing in Chicago and, OMG, Christmas is at risk. The three team up to get things back on track. I suspect a happy ending.

Lewis Company. It covers both movies and TV. It's apparently the first time one company got the rights to all the books. The previous movies and attempts to continue them must have been on a case-by-case basis. eOne and Sony were going to make another movie together, but eOne then decided they want to go bigger, got The C.S. Lewis Company to agree, and the whole thing ended up at Netflix.

Netflix show based on a 1959 Shirley Jackson gothic horror novel, but with the plot updated. Coming on 12 October. Created and directed by Mike Flanagan, of Oculus and Gerald's Game. It's about a group of siblings who lived in what would later become the most famous haunted house in the country. As adults they are brought back together and must face the ghosts of their past (cliche alert).

They're giving a live-action Avatar another go, after that movie which doesn't exist. It's being run by the original animated show's creators/showrunners and will be on Netflix, in partnership with Nickelodeon. They specifically mention a culturally-appropriate, non-whitewashed cast and that Netflix are backing them in their vision to go even deeper into the characters, story, action, and world-building. Maniac, a dark comedy staring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill as two strangers drawn to a mysterious pharmaceutical trial. Unsurprisingly, things don't go as planned. Also stars Justin Theroux as the drug's inventor and Sally Field in a recurring role. It's a limited run 10-episode series directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. Based on a Norwegian series of the same name. Seems to have some good ingredients at least. Streaming on 21 September. Teaser doesn't give much away.

Another former studio theatrical movie bought by Netflix, this time from Universal. Michael Peña stars as an ordinary working class guy who has recurring nightmares about mass destruction, and the loss of his family, by an unknown force. Everyone tells him it's just in his head, until an alien invasion begins. Also stars Lizzy Caplan and Mike Colter. Comes to Netflix on 27 July.

So this is on Netflix. It's literally just Hannah Gadsby doing her new comedy set at the Opera House. It runs for just over an hour. I don't know how to sum it up. It's about non-comformity. The trap of self-depreciation. Art history. It's funny in places, incredibly confronting in others. It's worth its own thread.

Netflix are adapting Salman Rushdie's book as a series. It's about a boy born at midnight on August 15, 1947, when India became independent. His life mirrors what's happening in the nation over the following years. And he has telepathic powers linking him to 1,000 children born in the same hour, all of them having gifts or powers.

Another Hunchback adaptation, this time from Netflix. With a large helping of Idris Elba, who will produce, direct, make original music and star as Quasimodo. It'll be a modern re-telling.
