  1. About time the PS5's most promising game gets its own thread. So what is Returnal? If you'd throw Housemarqe's arcade heritage, roguelikes, Tom Cruise's Edge of Tomorrow/Live Die Repeat, Bloodborne and a pinch of P.T. in a blender, you'd get Returnal. For an overview: https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/games/returnal/ Reveal trailer: Then there is this Game Awards trailer: And there is my favourite trailer, the recently released gameplay trailer that is an onslaught of particles, neon coloured bullets, massive tentacled creatures, sci-fi mystery and cool music. Watch in 4K and with good sound: More info on the PS Blog: https://blog.playstation.com/2020/12/10/returnal-launches-on-ps5-march-19-2021/ I have high hopes for this and that's also based on things I can't talk about.
  2. By Yager Development Official Site Release Date: Spring 2015 ABOUT IMAGES VIDEOS Looks a bit good (very). That being said, Dying Light, Hellraid and now this all look extremely similar but I have faith in Yager!
  3. I couldn't find a thread for this so apologies if a duplicate. After playing this at EGX last year I picked this up today for it's paltry budget price. If you liked Inside then just go buy Little Nightmares now. I'm I think about half way through and it is utterly brilliant. It's looking like being one of my favourites games so far this year and that's saying something given the year we've had already. Basically take Inside, a dash of Trapdoor, Little Big Planet and a dash of your childhood fears and you're there. I urge people to not watch spoilers and take the plunge. I just hope the rest holds up to what I've played so far. As info this runs at 60fps on PS4 Pro and at a higher res, looks fine on my standard model though.
  4. I'm surprised not to find a topic on this game. Just saw a trailer in another thread and it looks very interesting. Clearly H. R. Giger inspired even if they don't mention it in the Kickstarter, but that's what piqued my interest.
  5. After strange disappearances hit Tokyo’s population, it’s up to you to uncover the source and purge the city of a strange, new evil. Armed with your own mysterious abilities, you will face down the occult, unravel conspiracy theories and experience urban legends like never before. Don’t fear the unknown. Attack it. Ghostwire: Tokyo is an action-adventure video game played from a first-person perspective. The player can use various psychic and paranormal abilities to defeat the ghosts and spirits haunting Tokyo. Combat director Shinichiro Hara described the combat as "karate meets magic", as the player character utilizes hand movements inspired by Kuji-kiri hand gestures to cast spells. When an enemy loses most of their health, its core is exposed and the player can use takedown moves to destroy it, killing the spirit. GhostWire: Tokyo is the newest title by Tango Gameworks, the developer behind The Evil Within. The game was first revealed during Bethesda’s 2019 E3 press conference. Tango Gameworks is known for its work in the horror game genre and while this game definitely seems to have some spooky vibes, Tango notes that this is more of an action-adventure game. Official reveal trailer: Latest trailer: Announced exclusively for PS5 for March 2022.
  6. Chivalry: Medieval Warfare What is it: - First Person Slasher - With a Multiplayer focus (A competitive multiplayer FPS). “You have a sword and you want to hurt some people.” - Basic concept of the game. And it works on that level but there is so much depth to the combat that you can become a master swordsman over time. The game is skill-based and controls like a FPS, but instead of guns and grenades, players are given swords, shields, maces, battleaxes and longbows. Set in a fictional yet gritty and realistic world, players will fight in fast paced online battles besieging castles, raiding medieval villages and fighting for glory in the arena with up to 32 players. Why did we make it? “To create the best melee combat game ever.” We wanted to capture the experience of truly being on a medieval battlefield. To accomplish this we drew on our inspiration from epic swordfighting movies such as 300, Gladiator and Braveheart. We seek to bring the chaos, intensity and epicness that those movies deliver to the hands of a gamer. We were also disappointed with melee in other games. We didn’t want to be locked in to a canned animation, see damage numbers above enemies heads or have quicktime sequences. We wanted the player to be in control and have the ability to adjust his attack in real time with the mouse. Why this is significant: You control the action. Not like assassins creed where you press one button to do a triple backflip and kill 5 guys, in Chivalry you individually select each action that your character performs and always retain full control. This allows the player to perform expert level manuevures, like ducking under or jumping over his opponents strike, but only if the player himself is good enough. Screenshots: Videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=BDfJwglo6BY so we dont have to spam up the steam thread talking about chivalry!!
  7. Amnesia: The Dark Descent developers Frictional Games have announced their upcoming horror game, SOMA, due in 2015 for the PC and PS4. This is what they've been working on while they let The Chinese Room play ghost stories with A Machine for Pigs: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-10-11-amnesia-dev-reveals-soma-for-pc-and-playstation-4
  8. Introducing "Zwei" (project title), the new survival horror game by survival horror's greatest director Shinji Mikami. The game's being developed by Mikami's own studio Tango Gameworks, in co-operation with Bethesda Softworks. Besides this, not much else is known about this project which should hit the shelves somewhere in late 2013. This is how the studio is pitching the whole thing: This is what the man himself had to say about his latest brainchild: Artwork: http://i.imgur.com/RZ9N5.jpg http://i.imgur.com/kdJu0.jpg Debut teaser trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zc-jvqJV4SI TGS 2013 trailer: TGS 2014 trailer: Launch trailer:
  9. Pathetic creatures of meat and bone. Your time has come. The time of your mindless suffering is almost over. You will soon be able to overthrow the shackles of your puny human brains, your pathetic feelings and emotions, and succumb to logic, reason, and the beauty of my perfect, immortal mind. Whether you find solace among the ranks of my flawed children, or allow me to modify you to magnificence myself, you will soon glory in the release I can offer you. Alas, before this release you will surely know terror and pain, but what can these compare to the horror of the knowledge that you are so flawed to begin with? I'm sure you'll agree that the suffering is worth it. Give thanks, then, that gog.com have seen fit to unveil my glory upon an unsuspecting world, allowing you access to a place once thought lost forever. A place of unimaginable terror - at least to your pathetic minds. I'm sure you won't hesitate to join me. System Shock 2 is available to buy now. Only a madman would turn down this opportunity to purchase one of the greatest games ever created. Particularly for barely over £6. You may also be interested in the relevant patches to play the game on a modern system, and maybe some mods. Details are spoilered below. I'll update this post with any further information/suggestions given by others who are more up to date on the System Shock 2 situation.
  10. Looks like a complete reboot of the bounty hunter one, which was already basically a reboot of the series. Horror themed modern remastering of System Shock type thing? Looks interesting.
  11. Old news actually but I forgot to post about it. http://www.sonicretro.org/2016/10/people-making-sonic-movie/ Yes. Live Action.
  12. I remember whenever you'd buy a single-format console magazine in the 90s the letters page would inevitably have a crudely hand-drawn picture of Sonic or Mario holding the other system's mascot head aloft. Unfortunately for the a lot of people never outgrew this phase. Rllmuk is (thankfully) relatively free of the batshit insane mental fanboys that plague our pastime. So what property has the worst fanbase. Exhibit A: Sonic the Hedgehog At some point Sonic's fanbase splintered into people who enjoyed fast-paced 2D platformers and, well, Furries. Now that can't be helped, anything that features any form of anthropomorphic animal is going to be co-opted by Furries, no the real problem was at some point it started to appear that Sega had decided to cater more and more to that side of the audience. I think the early signs were when the designs started getting creepier. I'd put 'Sonic the Hedgehog' into the search box on Deviantart, but I don't want to be fired. I'd say that it reached a nadir in Sonic 2006. A game that was introduced touting that it was going to return the Sonic series to it's roots. Instead we got Sonic the Hedgehog copping off with an uncanny valley Final Fantasy reject princess. Someone actually thought that was a good idea! Thankfully, in recent years Sega seem to have come to their senses and there's been a marked increase in quality of the games, with Sonic Generations being about the best thing they've put out with a blue hedgehog in a long time.

    Dying Light

From Eurogamer: Resized pics below (full fat ones at the link above): Looks pretty nice. Mirror's Edge was amazing and Dead Island was lovably shonky so I'll be following this one with interest.
  14. I couldn't find a topic on it but feel free to merge if it turns out there is one after all. No one else watching this? I'm really enjoying it. It's a TV show about a girls football team that's in a plane crash in the 90's and has to survive in the wilderness. The show alternates between then and now and it's about what happened in the time they spent in the wild and new eventus in the present. There's of Lord of the Flies stuff going on, with possibly worse (and supernatural?) things. It's currently sitting on a 100% critic rating on rotten tomatoes. It's better than I thought it would be after the first episode. I liked that but was afraid it wouldn't deliver a satisfying experience. It's actually a lot slower than I thought at first too, which is nice. The characters get time to develop and the mystery to build up. I'm not really convinced by the young/old actors, some of them don't match at all (especially Juliette Lewis and the girl who plays the young version of her character) but after a while you just accept it. I guess the best endorsement I can give is that I've been checking to see if a new episode is out frequently, despite having loads of other stuff on the go. The trailer is pretty spoiler safe, it's mostly stuff from the first episode.
  15. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/43990.html?type=flv An interesting trailer, appeared in my RSS last night... Starts off looking a bit gash (aside from lovely pre-renderedness) but slowly looked more cool as the trailer went on.. I'm kinda interested Does anyone know anything about it, or looking forward to it? ________________ Update : PS4 rumours: http://www.vg247.com/2014/01/21/demons-souls-exclusive-ps4-spin-off-teased-by-industry-tipster-rumour/ Update 2: eventually became Bloodborne
  16. I've been playing through some custom maps for the original Quake this weekend and it's made me realise how much I utterly despise the zombies in it, more than any enemy in any other game I've ever played. I hadn't played Quake for about 3 years but as soon as I heard their "murrrrrrhhhh" bark around a corner I instinctively started grinding the fuck out of my teeth. Most monsters in the game fire projectiles that you can dodge and develop a strategy for handling when they're in a big crowd. To this day I still can't see a single thing that these shits are throwing at me, so I just end up seething, strafing in a circle and getting more and more enraged every time I hear the ridiculous SPLAT! sound effect when I get hit. You can only kill them with explosives, so I regularly end up shooting them point blank with a rocket launcher out of frustration and blowing myself into a shower of giblets while I roar obscenities at the screen for the 20th time. They also look like pricks. What are your least favorite video game enemies? The ones that make your skin crawl and cause you to make stupid mistakes as soon as the little bastards appear on-screen
  17. In fear of (pardon the pun) losing track of all things Horror let's dump all of the upcoming releases in here so we have time to prepare ourselves for when they hit (ie: buy new underwear). Released: Outlast (September 4, 2013) White Night (March 3, 2015) Dying Light (March 31, 2014) Among the Sleep (29 May 2014) The Forest (30 May, 2014) Daylight (April 30, 2014) Alien: Isolation (October 7, 2014) The Evil Within (October 14, 2014) Monstrum (May 20, 1015) Coming soon: Until Dawn (August 26, 2015) Fatal Frame (PAL 2015) Routine (2015) Perception (2016) Homesick (TBD) SOMA (TBD) What Remains of Edith Finch (TBD) Draugen (TBD) And here's one for ya: What is it that makes us keep coming back to this genre and often with high expectations? Is it because it's one of the few, if perhaps only, genre(s) which is guaranteed to play on your emotional state? As in fear? Hm, ponder this I shall.
  18. The makers of Contradiction Spot the Liar have come out with a new FMV game and....it actually looks quite good! Trailer It wasn't the trailer that got me interested though, it was a playthrough of the first section by some Australian streamers I've followed for ages. (Warning for swears and obv. some spoilers.) Looks really nicely done for FMV!
  19. Gaming's very own Orson Welles is back again. I suspect that whatever happens to 'Kara' it will somehow involve a leering shower scene. I know I rag on Monsieur Cage, but I am genuinely looking forward to this.

    Until Dawn

Love this trailer So this is out shortly, cant find a thread. It looks brilliant, a sort of choose your own adventure teen horror flick. Would be fun to play in groups. It also has that blond cheerleader from Heroes in. Anyone pre ordered? I'd love to hear impressions.
  21. Come on lads, no one made a thread for this? If it were another remake there'd have been one instantly and it'd be on the third page of replies by now. Capcom's worst kept secret, RE VIIIAGE sees Ethan go to Romania, where there's witches, werewolves and vampires to suplex. Next gen exclusive, no date beyond "2021" yet.

  23. So, I've been looking forward to this for quite some time - particularly for the amazing 1-bit art style that the game possesses. Basically, it's an RPG that revolves around your character investigating all manner of Junji Ito inspired abominations, and/or surviving the happenings around a very strange mid-80s Japanese town. I haven't got a lot to go on, as I'm going in blind and it's only just released on Steam for a crisp £11.39 , but initial impressions have been positive. There's also been a demo circulating, which you can find here: http://www.wohgame.com/ EDIT: And as @Goose has wonderfully mentioned, this is out on PC Gamepass right now as well! The developer is intending to release later this year on PS4 and Switch, if you're interested. In the meantime, I'll be back later with my own impressions of it. I'll be very upset of it's a bit pap, but that's life!
  24. Sounds fun maybe. Just found the Kickstarter concept video: http://youtu.be/zPhDWWGbaNU
