  1. The usual crew are back. Rock apparently won't be, but they're adding John Cena and UFC fighter Francis Ngannou. Michael Rooker also joining. Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren also coming back. There's rumours of Lucas Black too. It already started shooting a couple of months ago, and had an incident when a stuntman fell about 20 feet to the ground in Leavesden studios and suffered a bad head injury, being put in an induced coma for a while. No word on story yet, but it's shooting in London, LA, Thailand and Georgia (the country).
  2. Matthew Vaughn is directing a movie about the origins of Kingsman. Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou and Charles Dance star. Coming on 14 February.
  3. Seems they are having another go at a theatrical movie version. Although they're giving it to Simon McQuoid, who doesn't appear to have directed anything or worked in any other movie role according to IMDB at least. But they have now cast Joe Taslim as Sub Zero. And they have promised it will be R-Rated and includes Fatalities.
  4. This is the Robert Downey Jr version of Holmes, in case anyone is getting confused with all the different versions. He and Jude Law are back. Dexter Fletcher is practically signed to direct. Chris Brancato, co-creator of Narcos, doing the screenplay. Currently set for 21 December 2021.

    Saw 9

I've not watched them since 3 or 4 but there's another coming next year, with a story by Chris Rock. It'll also star Chris Rock as a police detective investigating grizzly crimes and Samuel L Jackson as his father. Also Max Minghella as Rock's partner and Marisol Nichols as their boss, a police Captain.
  6. Another live remake of an animated Disney Classic. Currently set for 27 March 2020. Directed by Niki Caro, known for Whale Rider and The Zookeeper's Wife. Shot in New Zealand and China.
  7. Rian Johnson writes and directs a whodunnit murder mystery with a bunch of people in a house where someone done a murder and everyone is a suspect. Stars Daniel Craig (DAT ACCENT), Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell and Christopher Plummer. Out 27 November US (apparently 29 in UK)
  8. The gang are back, following on from Welcome to the Jungle. Danny DeVito and Danny Glover joining the cast. Same in-game cast, but they've mixed up their real-world players.
  9. A big bombastic America-Fuck-Yeah WWII film, by the looks of it. Buy a Midway and get a Pearl Harbour included. Supposedly a budget of $100m. Patrick Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Ed Skrein, Aaron Eckhart, Luke Evans, Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid, Nick Jonas, Luke Kleintank, Keean Johnson, Etsushi Toyokawa, Tadanobu Asano and Jun Kunimura.
  10. Legendary are going to make a movie based on Enola Holmes novels. Enola is Sherlock's and Mycroft's young sister. Millie Bobby Brown will play Enola and Helena Bonham Carter her mother. Henry Cavill will be Sherlock.
  11. Paul Thomas Anderson directs and Thom Yorke scores a short musical film on Netflix. Apparently goes alongside Yorke's upcoming album of the same name. They say it's a "mind-bending visual piece, best played loud." Coming on 27 June.

    Stuber

I thought there was a thread for this already but I can't find any mention of the name. It stars Kumail Nanjiani as Stu, an Uber driver (Stuber, geddit?), who picks up Vic, a cop played by Dave Bautista. Vic drags Stu into all sorts of comedy danger while on the trail of a killer. Also features Iko Uwais, Natalie Morales, Betty Gilpin, Jimmy Tatro, Mira Sorvino and Karen Gillan. Not sure it's going to be great, but maybe amusing. Red band trailer
  13. BBC and Mackenzie Crook are making two hour-long Worzel movies for broadcast around Christmas. Crook is writing, directing and starring. Apparently many of The Detectorists team are involved.

    Ad Astra

Not a Vauxhall promotion, but a movie with Brad Pitt in space. Pitt is Roy McBride, who travels to the outer edge of the solar system to find his father and unravel a mystery that threatens life in the solar system. Also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler, Jamie Kennedy and Donald Sutherland. Currently set for 20 September.
  15. Stars Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer. Pratt and Holland are Ian and Barley Lighfoot, two elf brothers who set out to discover if there's enough magic left out there to spend one day with their father, who died before they can remember.
  16. It's a videogame movie so it's bound to be great. F. Gary Gray is developing it and directing. It's being written by the guy writing reboots of Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil too. He's not written anything actually released yet.
  17. This popped up on Amazon Prime over the weekend. Stars Donald Glover, Rihanna, Letitia Wright and Nonso Anozie. Directed by Hiro Murai. Not seen it yet but I've heard its good, certainly has some good names involved, and only 55 minutes. Apparently a musical of some sort.
  18. Despite the seemingly average-at-best reaction to the first, they're doing another. This time, they're getting Amy Jump to write it. https://deadline.com/2019/04/tomb-raider-sequel-mgm-warner-bros-amy-jump-write-script-1202594616/
  19. Michael Shannon and Shea Whigham back together again.
  20. First feature film directed by Noah Hawley, of the Fargo and Legion TV shows. And it looks like it'll be as off kilter as those. It's about an astronaut who has a transcendent experience while in space and begins to lose touch with reality. Apparently loosely based on the real story of Lisa Marie Nowak, who had a breakdown after returning from space. She strapped on a diaper so she could drive non-stop from Houston to Orlando to try and kidnap a woman romantically involved with another astronaut. Stars Natalie Portman, Jon Hamm, Dan Stevens, Zazie Beetz, Nick Offerman, Tig Notaro, Ellen Burstyn, Pearl Amanda Dickson, Colman Domingo and Joe Williamson.
  21. The Snyderverse version of The Flash has seemingly been coming forever. After the dark tone of the other movies didn't work so well, they hired writers credited on Game Night and Sprider-Man: Homecoming for a more lighthearted take, which has been working in recent movies. But a new challenger appears! For some reason, Flash actor Ezra Miller is determined to keep it dark. So he, along with Grant Morrison, have been allowed to write their own version of the movie. There seems to be a bit of doubt he would even stay in the role if his version isn't chosen. Doesn't seem like a great situation.
  22. look forward to watching Avengers Endgame in April this year?
  23. We're going there again. Popular manga/anime getting the Hollywood treatment from Legendary Entertainment and Sunrise on the Japanese side. It'll be written by Brian K. Vaughan.
  24. Alec Baldwin is John DeLorean in a new movie. It's a sort of hybrid, part biopic, part archive footage and talking heads.
