  1. A third sequel rather than a reboot. Josh Gad plays Wayne Szalinski's son. He follows in his father's footsteps by becoming a scientist. And accidentally shrinking his kids. Joe Johnston, director of the original (but neither other sequel), is in talks to return. They were originally considering doing this for Disney+, but the suits reckon it's worthy of a theatrical run.
  2. Oh shit son Not much to report on what the movie is about. Just that they're in final talks with Noah Hawley, of Fargo and Legion, to write and direct. This suddenly could be interesting.
  3. Universal and Blumhouse are doing a new version. Written and directed by Leigh Whannell. Starring Elisabeth Moss (Cecilia Kass) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (a brilliant scientist who she is trapped in an abusive relationship with). After Kass escapes the abusive relationship, he kills himself. In his will, he leaves her $5 million, contingent on her not being ruled mentally incompetent. Cue her being tormented by an invisible man, making her seem crazy. Due on 27 February.
  4. https://deadline.com/2019/10/nicolas-cage-star-genre-thriller-wallys-wonderland-haunted-amusement-park-1202771823/ Maybe a movie fitting of Cage. He plays a janitor in a twisted amusement park where the threatening animatronics come to life one night and he has to fight his way through them to survive until morning.
  5. Blomkamp's next movie is Inferno, starring Taylor Kitsch. He plays a cop who is called to investigate a murder in New Mexico. He suspects something bigger, possibly extraterrestrial, and comes face-to-face with a humanoid beast who is out to kill the only witness to the crime.
  6. The follow up to Murder on the Orient Express, with Kenneth Brannagh as Poirot. Coming in October 2020. Cast has been announced, including French & Saunders together again.
  7. https://deadline.com/2019/09/micro-budget-uk-sci-fi-20-years-in-the-works-gets-distribution-deal-1202746366/ https://www.invasionplanetearth.com/ 20 years ago, Simon Cox wanted to make a movie. Spent some time writing and trying to raise funds before going the crowdfunding route. Now it's finally done, after 6 years of shooting and 2 years of post production. It's being released in December. It was shot around Birmingham, including what appears to be a large scale battle scene in the city with 900 extras. Not exactly new ground as far as story goes; aliens harvesting humans. But I'm certainly willing to give a guys two decade passion project a go.
  8. A new one from Disney Animation. Raya is from a world named Kumandra, which is in peril. She goes on a quest to find the last dragon, to save her world. Sounds like she finds the dragon early, but the dragon, Sisu, is in human form and needs Raya's help to regain her power and become a proper dragon. The culture, design, etc. is supposed to be very south-east Asian. Apparently a bit of Hong Kong action movie vibe too. Cassie Steele is Raya and Awkwafina is Sisu. Adele Lim writing. Coming around Thanksgiving 2020.
  9. Coming on 19 June 2020. About a middle-school jazz teacher, Joe, who dies and goes to the You Seminar, a place where souls are made into individuals. (?) Then as a soul, goes on a cosmic adventure to get back to Earth. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross doing the score Directed by Pete Docter Joe - Jamie Foxx Joe’s mother - Phylicia Rashad Joe’s nemesis - Daveed Diggs 22, a helpful soul - Tina Fey Curly, a drummer - Questlove
  10. The latest live action remake, this time coming to Disney+ instead of cinema. Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux voicing the title characters. Also stars Ashley Jenson, Sam Elliott, Benedict Wong, Ken Jeong, Kiersey Clemons, F. Murray Abraham, Thomas Mann, Janelle Monáe and Yvette Nicole Brown. Being on Disney+, the release date depends on when that service launches in your area, but 12 November in the US.
  11. The usual crew are back. Rock apparently won't be, but they're adding John Cena and UFC fighter Francis Ngannou. Michael Rooker also joining. Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren also coming back. There's rumours of Lucas Black too. It already started shooting a couple of months ago, and had an incident when a stuntman fell about 20 feet to the ground in Leavesden studios and suffered a bad head injury, being put in an induced coma for a while. No word on story yet, but it's shooting in London, LA, Thailand and Georgia (the country).
  12. Matthew Vaughn is directing a movie about the origins of Kingsman. Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou and Charles Dance star. Coming on 14 February.
  13. Seems they are having another go at a theatrical movie version. Although they're giving it to Simon McQuoid, who doesn't appear to have directed anything or worked in any other movie role according to IMDB at least. But they have now cast Joe Taslim as Sub Zero. And they have promised it will be R-Rated and includes Fatalities.
  14. This is the Robert Downey Jr version of Holmes, in case anyone is getting confused with all the different versions. He and Jude Law are back. Dexter Fletcher is practically signed to direct. Chris Brancato, co-creator of Narcos, doing the screenplay. Currently set for 21 December 2021.

    Saw 9

I've not watched them since 3 or 4 but there's another coming next year, with a story by Chris Rock. It'll also star Chris Rock as a police detective investigating grizzly crimes and Samuel L Jackson as his father. Also Max Minghella as Rock's partner and Marisol Nichols as their boss, a police Captain.
  16. Another live remake of an animated Disney Classic. Currently set for 27 March 2020. Directed by Niki Caro, known for Whale Rider and The Zookeeper's Wife. Shot in New Zealand and China.
  17. Rian Johnson writes and directs a whodunnit murder mystery with a bunch of people in a house where someone done a murder and everyone is a suspect. Stars Daniel Craig (DAT ACCENT), Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell and Christopher Plummer. Out 27 November US (apparently 29 in UK)
  18. The gang are back, following on from Welcome to the Jungle. Danny DeVito and Danny Glover joining the cast. Same in-game cast, but they've mixed up their real-world players.
  19. A big bombastic America-Fuck-Yeah WWII film, by the looks of it. Buy a Midway and get a Pearl Harbour included. Supposedly a budget of $100m. Patrick Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Ed Skrein, Aaron Eckhart, Luke Evans, Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid, Nick Jonas, Luke Kleintank, Keean Johnson, Etsushi Toyokawa, Tadanobu Asano and Jun Kunimura.

  21. Paul Thomas Anderson directs and Thom Yorke scores a short musical film on Netflix. Apparently goes alongside Yorke's upcoming album of the same name. They say it's a "mind-bending visual piece, best played loud." Coming on 27 June.

    Stuber

I thought there was a thread for this already but I can't find any mention of the name. It stars Kumail Nanjiani as Stu, an Uber driver (Stuber, geddit?), who picks up Vic, a cop played by Dave Bautista. Vic drags Stu into all sorts of comedy danger while on the trail of a killer. Also features Iko Uwais, Natalie Morales, Betty Gilpin, Jimmy Tatro, Mira Sorvino and Karen Gillan. Not sure it's going to be great, but maybe amusing. Red band trailer
  23. BBC and Mackenzie Crook are making two hour-long Worzel movies for broadcast around Christmas. Crook is writing, directing and starring. Apparently many of The Detectorists team are involved.

    Ad Astra

Not a Vauxhall promotion, but a movie with Brad Pitt in space. Pitt is Roy McBride, who travels to the outer edge of the solar system to find his father and unravel a mystery that threatens life in the solar system. Also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler, Jamie Kennedy and Donald Sutherland. Currently set for 20 September.
