  1. Coppola has had another go at The Godfather III. New name, The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone, which he says is what he an Puzo always wanted. Re-edited with a new beginning and ending and other stuff rearranged. He says it's a more appropriate ending to the story. It's getting a limited cinema run in December. I don't know if that's US only, as sometimes these things are. It'll be available digitally after that. Chances of it undoing the bad rep Part III had to now?
  2. Seems to have been confirmed that the Wonder Woman sequel is named Wonder Woman 1984. Obviously, Gal Gadot is back, with Patty Jenkins directing. But Chris Pine is also back, in the 80s. Presumably copying the TV show thing of having the same actor playing the child (or grandchild in this case?) of the previous character.
  3. Those maniacs. They're doing another. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg. I've still not seen The Predator.
  4. Apple have nabbed a movie which is under development about Tetris. Rather than some earlier effort which apparently was supposed to be some sort of epic Tetris-based narrative somehow, this seems to be about the game itself, development, gaining popularity and all that. Taron Egerton is playing Henk Rogers, who first secured rights to distribute the game on consoles. Other roles still being finalised. Jon S, Baird, of Stan & Ollie, directing.
  5. https://deadline.com/video/tom-jerry-trailer-chloe-grace-moretz-michael-pena-ken-jeong-tim-story/ A hotel is to host a huge wedding, but Jerry is about and they don't want a picture of a mouse in their hotel on social media. So Tom gets hired to take care of him. You know what happens next. Humans are played by Chloë Grace Moretz, Michael Peña, Rob Delaney, Colin Jost and Ken Jeong.
  6. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tech/news/a552739/lovefilm-instant-to-become-amazon-prime-instant-video.html I used to be with Lovefilm, but left when they stopped renting games. At the time their streaming video service was nice as an added bonus on the subscription, but not something I'd have paid for on its own due to a poor library and apps only available on a very limted number of devices with rubbish update support. Not sure if this will tempt me away from Netflix, their original programming (House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Arrested Development) blow away Amazon's rather
  7. Firstly, it's not about that newspaper. It's Paul Greengrass and Tom Hanks back together for some apparent Oscar bait. It was supposed to be a big cinema release, but Covid has changed plans to it being cinema in US, releasing Christmas Day, and Netflix worldwide outside that. Unsure if Netflix is the same release day. Five years after the Civil War, Hank's Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd, veteran of 3 wars, travels the US telling stories of things happening around the world. He comes across a child who has been living with Kiowa natives for 6 years and takes her on a journ
  8. They said it couldn't be done. They said it shouldn't be done. But there is another instalment in Gerard Butler's Has Fallen movie series on the way. https://deadline.com/2020/11/gerard-butler-night-has-fallen-sequel-afm-millennium-1234611513/ No word on plot or if President God returns.
  9. Couldn't see a dedicated thread for this. Apologies if there is one.
  10. Not a Vauxhall promotion, but a movie with Brad Pitt in space. Pitt is Roy McBride, who travels to the outer edge of the solar system to find his father and unravel a mystery that threatens life in the solar system. Also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler, Jamie Kennedy and Donald Sutherland. Currently set for 20 September.
  11. Gorgeous George stars in and directs this sci-fi film based on the book Good Morning, Midnight. Originally shot for cinema, it's coming to Netflix on 23 December. They even shot it on 65mm for IMAX. Also stars Felicity Jones, Kyle Chandler, David Oyelowo, Demián Bichir, Sophie Rundle, Ethan Peck, Tim Russ and Miriam Shor. George is in an arctic scientific outpost when some sort of catastrophe befalls Earth. Meanwhile, others are on a spaceship, apparently on a mission to check out a possibly habitable world from the looks of it. Neither location has been able to contact anyone else
  12. Shang-Chi movie coming. I'm not sure if this is an MCU thing, but apparently he has been an Avenger, so I assume it is. They've got an experienced Chinese-American writer and are looking for a director who is Asian or of Asian descent. The character began in 1973, but obviously is going to be updated to avoid all those old stereotypes.
  13. A new one from Disney Animation. Raya is from a world named Kumandra, which is in peril. She goes on a quest to find the last dragon, to save her world. Sounds like she finds the dragon early, but the dragon, Sisu, is in human form and needs Raya's help to regain her power and become a proper dragon. The culture, design, etc. is supposed to be very south-east Asian. Apparently a bit of Hong Kong action movie vibe too. Cassie Steele is Raya and Awkwafina is Sisu. Adele Lim writing. Coming around Thanksgiving 2020.
  14. Coming on 19 June 2020. About a middle-school jazz teacher, Joe, who dies and goes to the You Seminar, a place where souls are made into individuals. (?) Then as a soul, goes on a cosmic adventure to get back to Earth. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross doing the score Directed by Pete Docter Joe - Jamie Foxx Joe’s mother - Phylicia Rashad Joe’s nemesis - Daveed Diggs 22, a helpful soul - Tina Fey Curly, a drummer - Questlove

    Furiosa

The Mad Max spin-off is happening. It'll be set before Fury Road, showing her origins. Anya Taylor-Joy in the lead role, with Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also in.
  16. http://www.slashfilm.com/dumbo-live-action-remake/ Tim Burton is doing a live-action Dumbo. Well, live-action plus CG. Contain your excitement, there's more. It “will add a unique family story that parallels Dumbo’s journey.” Sounds great. I've saved the best for last. It's written by Ehren Kruger, writer of The Brothers Grimm and Transformers 2, 3 and 4.
  17. https://deadline.com/video/welcome-to-the-blumhouse-trailer-amazon-prime-video/ An anthology of 8 Blumhouse movies coming to Amazon. 4 in October and 4 next year. I don't know if that means October next year. They've been churning out quite a lot of movies, with low budgets, often to good success, sometimes huge success.
  18. Stars Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer. Pratt and Holland are Ian and Barley Lighfoot, two elf brothers who set out to discover if there's enough magic left out there to spend one day with their father, who died before they can remember.
  19. Next movie from the makers of The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea and The Breadwinner. This one was snapped up by Apple for Apple TV+, but apparently is to be shown in cinemas too. No date, but supposedly this year. Sean Bean's the dad, so he's probably doomed

    Fatman

Mel Gibson is Santa. Business isn't doing so well, so he agrees to a one-time job for the US military, using his particular set of skills. Meanwhile, a rich 12 year old gets a lump of coal in his stocking, so he hires a hitman (Walton Goggins) to take out Santa.
  21. Another live remake of an animated Disney Classic. Currently set for 27 March 2020. Directed by Niki Caro, known for Whale Rider and The Zookeeper's Wife. Shot in New Zealand and China.
  22. May as well start a thread as it's now got a name. And as mentioned in the JW2 thread, Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum are back, along with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Colin Trevorrow back directing, with shooting started yesterday. Currently set for release on 11 June 2021.
  23. https://deadline.com/2019/12/free-guy-trailer-ryan-reynolds-shawn-levy-joe-keery-20th-century-fox-1202803053/ Ryan Reyonds plays a background NPC, Guy, in an open world videogame, Free City, who decides to take control of his life after being surrounded by videogame mayhem for 27 days straight. Directed by Shawn Levy. I like the opening text poking fun at the studio's new owners.
  24. Guy Ritchie returns with Toff Guys. Supposed to be in the style of Lock, Stock... and Snatch. It's old money meets the marijuana industry. So far it's got Hugh Grant, Matthew McConaughey, Kate Beckinsale, Henry Golding and Jeremy Strong. Surprisingly, it seems Hugh Grant isn't a toff, but a gossip journalist who digs into people's lives and ruins them. Jeremy Strong is a pot kingpin. Don't know the other roles yet.
  25. Legendary are going to make a movie based on Enola Holmes novels. Enola is Sherlock's and Mycroft's young sister. Millie Bobby Brown will play Enola and Helena Bonham Carter her mother. Henry Cavill will be Sherlock.
