  1. It's moving ahead, being written right now, and with Maverick back in full force, rather than the initial plan for him having a small role. It's going to explore how navy aviation is changing, with dogfighting all but gone and the rise of drones. Hopefully not a remake of Stealth. It's being written by Justin Marks, whose theatrical movie credits include Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li and...that's it. He's got other stuff in pre-production, but what's released isn't a great record to judge him by. Given the videogame heavy nature of the forum, I'll just mention he's also going to potentially ruin Shadow of the Colossus and Dead Space.
  2. Legendary are going to make a movie based on Enola Holmes novels. Enola is Sherlock's and Mycroft's young sister. Millie Bobby Brown will play Enola and Helena Bonham Carter her mother. Henry Cavill will be Sherlock.
  3. Described as a pulpy mystery caper. A sort of mix of present-day and stylised 70's elements. Stars John Boyega, Teyonah Parris and Jamie Foxx. After a series of eerie events, they find themselves on the trail of a nefarious government conspiracy.
  4. There were early indications of a sequel already, but now a third too, with Netflix reportedly paying $400m+ for them. Craig and Johnson both returning. https://deadline.com/2021/03/knives-out-two-sequels-netflix-400-million-plus-deal-daniel-craig-rian-johnson-ram-bergman-1234724575/
  5. J-Lo is the next to take the lead in a woman-kicking-arse movie. She's an assassin who comes out of hiding to protect the daughter she gave up years before. Scarred Joseph Fiennes in the trailer too. Coming in May.
  6. Del Toro plans stop-motion 'Pinocchio' Del Toro teaming up with Henson Company for a stop-motion movie. Penned by Del Toro and someone called Gris Grimley who did a version of the book in 2002. I don't know him, but maybe some of you do. Oh, and one word which seems to stand out there is necrophilia...
  7. A new version of Hellraiser is coming to Hulu on 7 October. Directed by David Bruckner, of The Night House. A female Pinhead now, played by Jamie Clayton. Or maybe sexless, as I heard the novel Pinhead is modified to the extent that they are basically sexless. A very short teaser
  8. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tech/news/a552739/lovefilm-instant-to-become-amazon-prime-instant-video.html I used to be with Lovefilm, but left when they stopped renting games. At the time their streaming video service was nice as an added bonus on the subscription, but not something I'd have paid for on its own due to a poor library and apps only available on a very limted number of devices with rubbish update support. Not sure if this will tempt me away from Netflix, their original programming (House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Arrested Development) blow away Amazon's rather uninspiring efforts in that area and without the introductory offer it's actually more expensive than Netflix (only by about £7 but still). The main argument for that price is the Amazon Prime delivery which i wouldn't particularly want. Still, more competition is good for us customers, not sure I'd want to be subscribed to two streaming services, but if they significantly improve their library I might take a look eventually.
  9. I didn't realise they were making a sequel, but people did like the first. Coming 10 November. Hugh Grant and Brendan Gleeson have joined the cast.
  10. Jon Hamm is bringing back Fletch. He's starring and producing. To be directed by Greg Mottola. It's to be based on the second book, Confess, Fletch.
  11. Of course they're not stopping. And this time they've got Robert Zemeckis directing and co-writing.
  12. "In the West End of 1950s London, plans for a movie version of a smash-hit play come to an abrupt halt after a pivotal member of the crew is murdered. When world-weary Inspector Stoppard (Sam Rockwell) and eager rookie Constable Stalker (Saoirse Ronan) take on the case, the two find themselves thrown into a puzzling whodunit within the glamorously sordid theatre underground, investigating the mysterious homicide at their own peril." This trailer popped up before the film I was watching tonight and it's the first I'd seen of it. To me the trailer feels like Knives Out directed by Wes Anderson, and I really enjoyed it. Release date is 9th Sept in the UK, so not too far away either.
  13. The latest in a long line of remaking everything except the racist one which shall be forgotten. Stars Halle Bailey as Ariel and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula. Others include Javier Bardem as King Triton, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder and Awkafina as Scuttle. Directed by Rob Marshall.
  14. https://deadline.com/video/three-thousand-years-of-longing-trailer-idris-elba-tilda-swinton-george-miller-cannes/ Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba star in this fantasy romantic drama from George Miller. Swinton is Dr. Alithea Binnie, a scholar who picks up an interesting object in Istanbul. Elba is a djinn who comes from that object and grants her three wishes. Certainly looks interesting
  15. Jake Schreier (Robot & Frank, Kidding) is set to direct Thunderbolts. I wasn't familiar, but it seems to be Marvel's version of Suicide Squad, with a team of villains tasked with government missions. No word on who may be in the team, but I'm sure everyone will have ideas. Zemo and US Agent have got to be there though, right? https://deadline.com/2022/06/marvels-thunderbolts-jake-schreier-1235041619/
  16. It's more Inside Out, but now Riley's a teenager. I guess the rest writes itself. https://deadline.com/2022/09/inside-out-sequel-plans-confirmed-by-pixar-at-d23-1235113202/
  17. Next movie, after Lightyear, has been announced. Due 16 June 2023. Directed by Peter Sohn of The Good Dinosaur and the Partly Cloudy short. Set in a city where fire, air, land and water people live together. The man characters are Ember and Wade. Fire and water people, if it was too subtle for you. The water and fire pair are about to discover how much they have in common. No teaser or anything yet, just a title and concept picture.
  18. Obviously Anthony Mackie is Cap now. Carl Lumbly will be back as Isiah Bradley. Tim Blake Nelson will return as Samuel Sterns/The Leader, previously seen in 2008's The Incredible Hulk. Shira Haas also cast as Sabra. https://deadline.com/2022/09/captain-america-new-world-order-shira-haas-tim-blake-nelson-1235114457/
  19. Elio is an 11 year old boy who finds himself transported across the galaxy, where he is mistaken for the intergalactic ambassador for Earth. A kid named Yonas Kibreab plays Elio and America Ferrera plays his mother. Directed by Coco co-directer Adrian Molina. https://deadline.com/2022/09/elio-pixar-movie-america-ferrera-yonas-kibreab-adrian-molina-1235113672/
  20. Jake Gyllenhaal, Dennis Quaid, Jabouki Young-White and Lucy Liu play a family of explorers whose differences threaten their latest adventure. I'm guessing they learn their differences actually help each other in the end. https://deadline.com/2022/09/strange-world-jake-gyllenhaal-disney-animated-film-1235113701/
  21. Apparently an origin story for the Wishing Star. Stars Ariana DeBose and Alan Tudyk. Directed by Chris Buck (Frozen) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (Raya and the Last Dragon). They say it blends a watercolour style with 3D CG. Tudyk is her goat companion. https://deadline.com/2022/09/wish-disney-movie-princess-pic-at-d23-1235113523/
  22. It's got a release date of 22 July 2022, but not yet any information about the story Cast include Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Barbie Ferreira and Brandon Perea.
  23. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/netflix-lands-jordan-peele-keegan-michael-key-stop-motion-film-henry-selick-1094475 Netflix are financing Henry Selick's next stop-motion movie. Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key play the title characters, demon brothers facing their arch-enemy to try to earn their way out of hell.
  24. Shang-Chi movie coming. I'm not sure if this is an MCU thing, but apparently he has been an Avenger, so I assume it is. They've got an experienced Chinese-American writer and are looking for a director who is Asian or of Asian descent. The character began in 1973, but obviously is going to be updated to avoid all those old stereotypes.
  25. Those maniacs. They're doing another. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg. I've still not seen The Predator.
