  1. This newly Early Access title seems to be gathering momentum in PC gaming circles, and I can see that a few of you have taken the plunge already. It's yet another survival game in which you gather resources to build and craft weapons in order to explore and tackle increasingly dangerous enemies. I think the reason that it has become so popular is the how well judged the progression is. The graphic style is a strange mixture of PS1-style unfiltered textures and over the top pixel shaders, the soundtrack is suitability relaxing. It's very much cooperative focussed, I've been playing with some friends and we've got a nice little village with boar pens and bee hives and are tooling up to summon the first boss. We've ventured further afield, bravely ignoring a warning that we were underpowered and got hilariously wiped out by a big nasty whilst carrying all our best kit, requiring a second stealthier expedition to get it all back. As someone who missed the survival Minecraft bandwagon and was perturbed by the constant conflict in Rust, it really hits the spot. https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/valheim-felt-like-a-typical-survival-game-until-i-summoned-an-angry-heavy-metal-stag-from-valhalla/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/892970/Valheim/
  2. (This has been mentioned in the Steam thread, but it's not just for Steam, so...) EVERSPACE is a "single player roguelike space shooter" from ROCKFISH Games ("Pretty much the whole team who created the Galaxy on Fire series ..."). It's out now for PC via Steam Early Access, and will be coming to Xbox One "later this month" via the Xbox One Game Preview Programme.
