  1. Coming to all platforms January 30th for about £15... Below are some notes from the MS Store page: https://www.arcsystemworks.jp/codeshifter/ I adore crossover stuff when it's done well, and this is looking like Arc's own Street Fighter X Mega Man. With the story premise of Wario Ware. But maybe even better than all of that. The trailer didn't show a whole lot of action-packed gameplay, and I can see that the clashing styles might not be everyone's bag, but I'm interested in finding out more about this...
  2. Did a search for a topic on this but couldn't find one. Maybe not a surprise considering I've seen two videos so far, saying they'd not really heard of it before the last month. This is developed by Gunfire Games and mashes together a few genres. It's part souls, part Borderlands and a bit rogue-like. You can play online with up to three others or play solo, completely offline. It looks to have highly customisable characters, no micro transactions, with a promise of paid and free DLC. The gunplay looks pretty good though the locations seem quite sparse. There's the promise of 40+ weapons, excluding Melee. Over 100 enemy types and 20-30 bosses.
  3. Out Now Price: £14.99 Metacritic: 82 So on the eve of Bloodstained getting released, a small indie game has been released on the Switch eshop and on Xbox (it released last year on the PS4 and Steam) called Timespinner. And it's Castlevania. No seriously, it's Castlevania. Look at the map! Basically, you play a young girl who travels through time to try and stop an Empire from destroying her homeland. This involves travelling from the past to the present in an effort to figure out a way to reach the Emperor and kill him. So there's castles. And backtracking. And big, screen filling bosses. And it's great. Seriously, if you're a fan of the old DS Castlevanias, give it a go. You won't be disappointed.
  4. This came out of nowhere and climbed straight to my top 5 most wanted games: I'm really loving the art style and the animation. Here's me hoping this will be as good as its presentation! It seems like the devs are fond of classic games. This easter egg should be familiar to most posters on here: Some more screenshots:
  5. Looking forward to this as a distraction to Tetris 99. http://puyo.sega.com/champions/
  6. I've been aware of this game from Quebec-based nine dots for a little while but reading (in-store) a preview in PC Gamer this morning made me rather more interested. The game has some intriguing features and features a human "nobody" as Charname. couch and on-line co-op attention to detail on survival elements, you can't just scoff a dead animal no perma death - rather you are transported elsewhere on the map (potentially without your backpack - see below) no quick travel a spell crafting system which reminds me a bit of Two Worlds II, combing different ingredients or components to different ends auto-save only stamina cost to combat magic comes at the cost of lower health and stamina wearing a backpack hinders rolling away in combat
  7. Beamdog are partnering with Skybound games to bring all the classic Infinity Engine RPGs over in their EE versions, plus Neverwinter Nights. No further details as of yet. I was wondering what Beamdog were up to after Phil Daigle left - Trent has been busy forging weapons in his garage in his spare time, but this is tremendous news. Games are Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition The code for Icewind Dale 2 has apparently been lost, so this is the lot. Now confirmed as physical bundles and single digital editions - Baldurs Gate games Planescape Torment + Icewind Dale Neverwinter nights + "DLC" (coming early December)
  8. Systems: Pretty much everything Price: £15.99 Genre: Turn Based Strategy Remember Advance Wars? Remember your childlike C.O pitting your army against opposing enemies to sunny backdrops and jaunty music? Remember how it was (and still is, in my opinion) the best turn based strategy game around? Now remember how we haven't had a new game in the series in over 10 years? Nintendo, why do you hurt me so? Now enter Wargroove. Not so much a homage to Advance Wars, but an almost blatant rip off. This isn't a bad thing, though. If Nintendo won't work with the IP, at least someone is willing to take the mantle and run with it. Obviously, the biggest difference is the Medieval setting. So no tanks, then. Instead you have Ballistas. And Giants. And don't expect any aircraft. There be dragons here, instead. Plus, it expands massively on what Advance Wars started. 4 Player Multiplayer? Check. Online? Check. Create your own maps and share them online? Check. Essentially it looks like Advance Wars +++. Personally I would have been happy with Advance Wars +, but given the time spent on it (it was meant to be out over a year ago initially) and the obvious love the game has for predecessor, it seems like it might be something quite special. So when's it out? Today, hopefully! A shadow drop at the the end of the Nintendo Indie Direct is what we'd like. If not, it's definitely out soon, though. The developers have been all over Twitter, promising more information and a release VERY soon. I fully expect it it's not today, we will definitely have a date after the Direct. Just look at it! How could you not be excited?
  9. I'm not a fan of Dark Souls but I do enjoy seeing what publishers think they can get away with when it comes to the ultra expensive collectors edition. https://store.bandainamcoent.eu/uk/product/526642/dark-souls-trilogy-collector-s-edition-ps4?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ds-trilogy-announcement-19012019 All yours for just £449.99. I know there are a lot of Dark Souls fans on this forum, any takers?
  10. I got my Steam key this morning! Who else is jumping in? http://www.causalbitgames.com/our-games/battle-princess-madelyn/
  11. I've been doing a weekly mini review on some smaller eshop games this last few weeks, in the hope of promoting some discussion about the games. I figured I'd spin off some of the posts into their own thread to see how interested others are. So here goes. This week: Night In The Woods Price: £17.09 Metacritic: 85% https://www.metacritic.com/game/switch/night-in-the-woods Also on: Pretty much everything. It's hard to really talk about Night In The Woods without going into spoiler territory. I can't even quantify what appeals about the game so much to me, really. You play as Mae, a young cat who returns home to her little town after dropping out of college. You rekindle old friendships, you attempt to talk with your disappointed parents, you wander around town, noticing how many places have closed down since you were last here, you poke at dismembered arms with sticks. The atmosphere reminds me of Animal Crossing if it was written by David Lynch. Things just don't seem quite right in this little town. What stands out about Night In The Woods is the dialogue. The core four main friends have easy, well written conversations that flow naturally. Oftentimes, this will slow the pace of the game down a bit as you end up listening to talk about what was on TV lastnight, but it really does aid the character development. And when the game takes a left turn about two thirds of the way through, you realise how important those conversations are. Honestly, I just enjoyed spending time in the world. At about 6-7 hours, it's not the longest game, But the feel of decay, of a town which is failing in the face of the modern world is so well realised. And it has a great story to tell.
  12. Wales Interactive have a new FMV mystery game coming out. The Shape Shifting Detective. If you weren't interested (you should be, it looks fantastic) then did you notice a certain someone...? No? If I did 'This' would it mean anything to you? Coming to Steam, Xbox One, PS4, Switch in Autumn.
  13. Just been officially announced: http://www.dirtrally2.com/ Disappointed in the branding
  14. Strafe

    Planet Alpha

Picked this up on Switch. It looks pretty bad on TV mode (playing on a 4k set admittedly) but better - if basic - on handheld. Gameplay is pretty basic. I guess I was hoping for a Inside/Limbo with Sci Fi sort of thing but no such luck. The music is quite atmospheric but maybe as I’m playing it on Switch I don’t get the same sense of awe that I got from the trailers. Frame rate chugs on a few occasions though nothing too serious. Some bits (I’m an hour or so in) are quite creepy and scary but as the checkpoints are so generous there’s no real feeling of tension or fear. I’m disappointed as I was looking forward to this.
  15. Just announced at GamesCom. After a string of misfires it looks like Supermassive Games are returning to the successful Until Dawn formula for an anthology of stand-alone horror games where your decisions affect the narrative outcome and everyone can live/die etc Namco Bandai are publishing, so Xbox and PC owners to get to join in this time. The first story in the anthology is called Man of Medan and is due for release next year. I really enjoyed Until Dawn so I'm cautiously in. I think a lot of people were requesting that they basically do a series of stand-alone games where each focuses on a specific horror sub-genre so it looks like they were paying attention.
  16. Long before the we wanted to go into battle on an island, the world was in big big trouble and only a few brave heroes could SAVE THE WORLD! Or something like that anyway. Fortnite was originally a PvE game and despite Battle Royale being the darling of the industry right now, this is still the meat of Epic's game... But what is it? Well I am too lazy to write stuff so this is from Wikipedia: Whilst the game does have micro-transactions and despite needing to pay to get access right now, the balancing seems pretty decent on the whole, with you being able to progress through the game just by playing and getting end of mission rewards. What's best though, the game is very generous with V-Bucks, meaning you can easily earn enough to buy a full season of Battle Royale within a few days. A few on the forum are really into it... you should be to. Media Our very own @robdood is the go to forum expert in this mode right now and you should check out his videos too. Check out his channel too. 17. Most important bit currently: Switch version out on August 7, 2018! Should leave you with enough time to complete Hollow Knight.
  18. Another very short trailer on this one, with Spiders moving right away from the Mars War Logs / Technomancer universe into something more fantasy inspired.
  19. Fresh from the exceedingly grim atmosphere portrayed in Vampyr, here's another interesting, though very dark, prospect.
  20. Colour me excited for this. We know that Remedy tends to keep elements from earlier games around in later ones and this gives off a very Quantum Break vibe to me:
  21. It looks like this is essentially Halo 6. https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/our-journey-begins
  22. This game came out recently across all platforms and is incredible. It mixes genres really well and is a: Metroidvania, Platforming game with pinball mechanics. The art style is lovely and the music is joyful. Despite being fairly short, it has fantastic pacing. Check out videos below then go ahead and buy it. It is already one of the games of the year in my opinion. Buy it Xbox Playstation PC Switch
  23. This looks intriguing, and only a week to the release of Episode 1.
  24. New F2P multiplayer RTS/RTT game with a Viking theme. Looks very similar to Total War: Arena. Official Gameplay Trailer: Official site: https://destructivecreations.pl/ancestors-legacy/ Steam page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/720380/Ancestors_Legacy_Multiplayer_Open_Beta/ I think it looks cool.
