  1. Arnie is doing a TV series, in a show by Nick Santora. Luke (Arnie) and Emma (Monica Barbaro) are father and daughter, both keeping a secret from each other. They're both CIA operatives. Coming on 25 May. https://deadline.com/2023/02/arnold-schwarzenegger-fubar-netflix-date-teaser-trailer-first-look-photos-1235272869/
  2. While you've all been filling yourselves with curry in Bury I've mainlined this and it is really very very good Extremely compelling stuff, Keri Russell is excellent but so is everybody else. Highly recommend watching it!
  3. Netflix are bringing the One Piece manga to life. Hopefully it fares better than Cowboy Bebop. There's a bunch of casting at the link, mostly names I don't think I know, plus Craig Fairbrass. They released a video showing a glimpse at some sets.
  4. Scott Pilgrim is coming back to screen, as an anime on Netflix. Bryan Lee O’Malley, who wrote the graphic novel, will write and be co-showrunner. It'll be animated by Science SARU, so it should at least look interesting.
  5. This turned up on Netflix yesterday. While I make no claims to it being a great movie (although its enjoyable enough), the subject matter and the way the movie uses it meant my heart was in my mouth pretty much the whole time - it was really stressing me out! Maybe not so much if you have no fear of heights, but if you do, oh boy!
  6. https://deadline.com/2021/02/wednesday-addams-live-action-series-tim-burton-netflix-al-gough-miles-millar-to-showrun-1234695553/ Tim Burton to direct an 8-part live-action Wednesday Addams show for Netflix. Al Gough and Miles Millar as showrunners.
  7. After the success of Pinocchio, Guillermo Del Toro and Netflix are back with another stop motion movie, based on the book The Buried Giant.
  8. Graphic novel, The Umbrella Academy, is getting a 10 episode live action series on Netflix. Steve Blackman will be showrunner and producer. He also produces on Fargo and Legion. I know nothing about it, so I'll just paste this. Apparently it's popular and award winning.
  9. There were early indications of a sequel already, but now a third too, with Netflix reportedly paying $400m+ for them. Craig and Johnson both returning. https://deadline.com/2021/03/knives-out-two-sequels-netflix-400-million-plus-deal-daniel-craig-rian-johnson-ram-bergman-1234724575/
  10. Just started watching this.... to be honest.. I've just started the second episode and I'm not actually sure what it is!! I quite enjoyed the first episode... It feels a bit twin peaks crossed with stranger things Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Another revival! Ralph Macchio and William Zabka have bills to pay are back as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. After competition from mainly streaming services, it's going to YouTube Red, the YouTube subscription service. Down-and-out Johnny reopens the Cobra Kai dojo and reignited his rivalry with a successful Daniel, who has struggles of his own. It's going to be a 10 episode half hour comedy series. Yes, comedy. Karate too of course. It's being written by the minds behind Hot Tub Time Machine and Harold and Kumar.
  12. NWR has a 6-episode show coming to Netflix. Made back home in Denmark. It's a "neon-drenched noir", for a change. Production has already wrapped and it'll be out later this year. And it sounds like we can expect more from him and Netflix.
  13. Dark was a big hit, so its creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar are back with Netflix with another show. It's set in 1899, around a group of migrants from around Europe and maybe further sailing to America. Their ship encounters another migrant ship adrift and...something mysterious they're not going into details on happens. It'll be multilingual with the multinational cast speaking their native tongues. It's filmed on a virtual "Volume" set, familiar to those in The Mandalorian thread. Friese and Odar actually had this built themselves, at Babelsberg studios in Germany, and set up their own company to operate it, on the back of this and Netflix committing to shooting more stuff on it. It's currently Europe's largest version of the tech.
  14. Netflix are to release this on 1 January. It's 8 episodes and the non-linear aspect is that it doesn't matter what order you watch them in and different people will be served different orders. Might be interesting to see how that works in reality. The idea came from when $70bn of bonds went missing during Hurricane Sandy. The creator thought "What if it was actually a heist using the storm for cover". Stars Giancarlo Esposito, Rufus Sewell, Paz Vega, Tati Gabrielle, Peter Mark Kendall, Rosaline Elbay, Jai Courtney, Niousha Noor, Jordan Mendoza, Soojeong Son and Hemky Madera.
  15. Del Toro plans stop-motion 'Pinocchio' Del Toro teaming up with Henson Company for a stop-motion movie. Penned by Del Toro and someone called Gris Grimley who did a version of the book in 2002. I don't know him, but maybe some of you do. Oh, and one word which seems to stand out there is necrophilia...
  16. 8 episodes mini series. Deep space horror/suspense theme. Character designs by Yoshitaka Amano. Soundtrack by Ryuichi Sakamoto. https://www.netflix.com/gb/title/81002444 I just finished watching this - I thought it was good. Nothing too heavy and pretty concise at just 8 episodes, but it kept me hooked and I was keen to find out the next twist and turn of the story. The art style is a little strange but I recognised Amano’s designs before I saw his name in the credits! Sakamoto’s score is also very nice.
  17. https://deadline.com/video/shadow-and-bone-trailer-when-netflix-april-2021/ I don't know what Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse novels are, but this is based on those. Apart from Ben Barnes, the named cast seem to be relative newcomers. A teaser that doesn't show much of anything.
  18. https://deadline.com/2021/11/randall-park-blockbuster-video-store-comedy-series-netflix-from-superstore-duo-david-caspe-1234876166/ Netflix have ordered a workplace comedy set in the last Blockbuster Video store in America. Starring Randall Park and some Superstore people behind the scenes. Netflix were almost crushed by blockbuster back in the day, when Netflix were a movie rental company, and they even rebuffed an offer to sell Netflix to them. How things could have been different. Brought down by Kit-Kats in the end, innit.
  19. The manga and anime are very popular, but it's probably going to be a shit live movie. It's being made by Netflix and Legendary. Manga and anime are both ongoing. Don't know much about the manga, but the anime is currently in it's 6th season (plus 3 movies). Needless to say, whatever this movie produces will barely scratch the surface. Set in a version of Earth where, in the not too distant past, people started manifesting superpowers as young children, called Quirks in this franchise. In the present day, about 80% of people have Quirks. They can range from devastating power to practically useless. Some people with Quirks go on to become officially licenced superheroes. They have to be licenced and unlicenced vigilantes are illegal. The main character has no Quirk, but still dreams of attending a superhero school. And an encounter with the world's No. 1 hero changes his life. It'll be written by Joby Harold. He did Guy Ritchie's version of King Arthur, the Obi-Wan series and upcoming long delayed Flash and Transformers. https://deadline.com/2022/12/netflix-legendary-my-hero-academia-1235196620/
  20. Mike Flanagan hasn't done a show about bombing down the Bayshore Route in Tokyo in cars that crashed through Halfords first. It's about a group of terminally ill young adults in a hospice who gather at midnight to tell scary stories. And make a pact that when the first dies, they communicate with others from beyond the grave. And when the first does die, strange things begin happening. Starts today. It's also made it into the Guinness Records for the most jump scares in a single episode. Flanagan actually hates jump scares, but decided to deliberately go over the top for those people who clamour for them and try to make them meaningless. https://deadline.com/2022/10/the-midnight-club-now-guiness-world-records-holder-1235137919/
  21. I only played the first couple of games, so have no idea where it ended up going. But Netflix have acquired the rights and are partnering with The Coalition to develop a movie and an animated series. It'll apparently be a high priority with work expected to begin pretty quickly. https://deadline.com/2022/11/netflix-gears-of-war-1235165887/
  22. Another game-based Netflix animation. Not a lot of detail yet, other than it being new characters inspired by the game and it's coming in December. And a teaser trailer
  23. Remember that time Netflix made a rubbish live-action Death Note? Now Netflix are making a live-action Death Note again. This one is from the Duffer Brothers company, though I don't know if they're directing. https://deadline.com/2022/10/death-note-halia-abdel-meguid-series-adaptation-manga-netflix-duffer-bros-1235151144/
  24. Netflix anime set in the world of the game, animated by Trigger. It's coming in September https://deadline.com/2022/06/cyberpunk-edgerunners-teaser-trailer-first-look-netflix-anime-series-video-game-1235040841/
