  1. I know they rebooted it 4 years ago, but they're doing it again. With Bay still involved. And they're hoping to add quality by hiring a writer that wrote one other movie, in 2013. Andrew Dodge, who wrote Bad Words. Though he's also working on Space Jam 2. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/new-ninja-turtles-movie-works-1121467
  2. The latest Disney live action remake of an earlier animation is Beauty and the Beast. It's not new news, but we don't seem to have a thread. We've got Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Emma Thompson, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad and Stanley Tucci filling this one. They've just released the first trailer. Coming 17 March, 2017.
  3. The gang are back, following on from Welcome to the Jungle. Danny DeVito and Danny Glover joining the cast. Same in-game cast, but they've mixed up their real-world players.
  4. Yes, it is related to Ocean's 11. But this time with the main cast being female. Soderbergh just producing this time, with Gary Ross directing. Hows about some Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna and Awkwafina in a caper? Yes, I know that's only 7. The last one isn't known yet. I'm sure there's already been angry tears in that corner of the Internet over the female reboot, but I've not checked.
  5. Universal and Blumhouse are doing a new version. Written and directed by Leigh Whannell. Starring Elisabeth Moss (Cecilia Kass) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (a brilliant scientist who she is trapped in an abusive relationship with). After Kass escapes the abusive relationship, he kills himself. In his will, he leaves her $5 million, contingent on her not being ruled mentally incompetent. Cue her being tormented by an invisible man, making her seem crazy. Due on 27 February.
  6. Martin McDonagh's next movie will be The Banshees Of Inisheer. He's teaming up with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson again. Inisheer is a real island off the west coast of Ireland (the shipwreck in the Father Ted opening credits is there).
  7. Jumanji producers are developing a sci-fi movie based on the Emerson, Lake & Palmer song Karn Evil 9. Daniel H. Wilson has been hired to adapt the screenplay. https://deadline.com/2020/02/radar-pictures-develop-emerson-lake-palmer-song-karn-evil-9-film-1202859799/
  8. Continuing their live action remakes of animated features, they've announced some main cast of Aladdin. Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Will Smith as the genie. Smith had been rumoured for the role. Guy Ritchie directing.
  9. If the reviews coming out of the festivals are true this could well be one of the best action films we have seen in near on a decade and the red band trailer below certainly looks promising. Synopsis: The Raid follows a elite SWAT team as they raid a rundown apart ment, which is ruled by a ruthless drug lord named Tama who uses the location to shelter his junkies, drifters, enforcers and killers. When their cover is blown, Tama puts a bounty on the members of the squad which is echoed over the loudspeaker system across the apartment compound. With no reinforcements coming to their aid, Rama and his men must try to survive and escape this apartment highrise full of killers. The only negative is that some guy from Linkin Park is doing the soundtrack.
  10. Of course they're not stopping. And this time they've got Robert Zemeckis directing and co-writing.
  11. http://ew.com/movies/2017/04/22/dark-phoenix-confirmed-after-x-men-apocalypse/ Fox confirmed they're doing Dark Phoenix next. Due November 2, 2018, after New Mutants (April 13, 2018) and Deadpool 2 (June 1, 2018). Simon Kinberg is interested in directing.
  12. Oh shit son Not much to report on what the movie is about. Just that they're in final talks with Noah Hawley, of Fargo and Legion, to write and direct. This suddenly could be interesting.
  13. There has been a little bit mentioned about this in Cloverfield related threads. But, if JJ is to be believed, he's said at CinemaCon that this is not a Cloverfield movie. What it is, is an R-rated movie with paratroopers dropped behind enemy lines the day before D-Day and encountering the results of all sorts of Nazi experiments with the supernatural, genetic modifications and that sort of stuff. Some footage was shown and it was apparently gruesome. It's Bad Robot's first R-Rated movie. Abrams is producing rather than directing. An Aussie named Julius Avery is directing. 2014's Son of a Gun seems to be his only other feature length movie.
  14. Some details about the movie Darren Aronofsky and Jennifer Lawrence have been working on has been revealed. mother! It's a horror thriller due out at Halloween. Also starring Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, Domnhall Gleeson, Ed Harris and Kristen Wiig. Bardem and Lawrence play a couple whose "relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence."
  15. They're bringing T2 back to cinema next year, but it's in 3D.
  16. I know there are at least a few posters on here who have read Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicles "trilogy". It was announced quite a while back that his works would be adapted for TV and into movies, possibly other media (games, stage etc). Now it's been announced that Lin-Manuel Miranda will take up the mantle of creative producer on the movie and tv adaptations, with the option to create a stage adaptation as well some time in the future. I'm quite excited for this although I think I'll have to reread the books, I realized the other day that I've forgotten a lot of what happens.
  17. Blomkamp's next movie is Inferno, starring Taylor Kitsch. He plays a cop who is called to investigate a murder in New Mexico. He suspects something bigger, possibly extraterrestrial, and comes face-to-face with a humanoid beast who is out to kill the only witness to the crime.
  18. https://deadline.com/2018/09/magnolia-pictures-lands-swedish-sci-fi-thriller-aniara-toronto-1202460821/ Based on a poem by Nobel winner Harry Martinson, a sci-fi about consumerist arsehole humans destroying Earth and setting off for Mars. On big ships designed like big shopping malls, because that's how humans are now. One of these ships suffers an accident and is knocked off course. People begin to reevaluate their lives now that they may not get to Mars. One of the stars runs a room where people can experience memories of Earth. This was ignored before the accident, because there's shopping to be done. But now people can't get enough and their anxiety and aggression makes the computer depressed. Which I really want to see. There's other breakdowns in society, extreme indulgences and cults and stuff too. The trailer may be slightly NSFW with a little flash of breast.
  19. They're bringing back Charlie's Angels again. Again. The new Angels are Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska. Elizabeth Banks is directing and also playing Bosley. She also co-wrote it with Jay Basu. They don't say it explicitly, but it sounds like it may be a continuation of sorts of the other movies, focusing on a different team, of which there are now apparently several worldwide.
  20. I was never quite sure if this was actually going to be anything more than talk, but it's actually progressing. Obviously Jason Statham and Rock The Dwayne Johnson are in their established roles. Vanessa Kirby (The Crown, Mission Impossible Fallout) and Idris Elba have also joined. Don't know Kirby's role, but Elba is playing the villain. It'll be directed by David Leitch, of John Wick, Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2. Written by Chris Morgan, of Fast & Furious 3-9.
  21. Not much detail on plot, but Netflix, with Skydance, are apparently spending about $150m on an action thriller movie directed by Michael Bay, starring Ryan Reynolds and written by Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. There will probably be explosions. Supposed to start shooting in summer for release next year. Unconfirmed reports from "sources" say it's about six billionaires who fake their deaths and form an elite team to take down bad guys.
  22. https://deadline.com/2019/09/micro-budget-uk-sci-fi-20-years-in-the-works-gets-distribution-deal-1202746366/ https://www.invasionplanetearth.com/ 20 years ago, Simon Cox wanted to make a movie. Spent some time writing and trying to raise funds before going the crowdfunding route. Now it's finally done, after 6 years of shooting and 2 years of post production. It's being released in December. It was shot around Birmingham, including what appears to be a large scale battle scene in the city with 900 extras. Not exactly new ground as far as story goes; aliens harvesting humans. But I'm certainly willing to give a guys two decade passion project a go.
  23. First feature film directed by Noah Hawley, of the Fargo and Legion TV shows. And it looks like it'll be as off kilter as those. It's about an astronaut who has a transcendent experience while in space and begins to lose touch with reality. Apparently loosely based on the real story of Lisa Marie Nowak, who had a breakdown after returning from space. She strapped on a diaper so she could drive non-stop from Houston to Orlando to try and kidnap a woman romantically involved with another astronaut. Stars Natalie Portman, Jon Hamm, Dan Stevens, Zazie Beetz, Nick Offerman, Tig Notaro, Ellen Burstyn, Pearl Amanda Dickson, Colman Domingo and Joe Williamson.
  24. The latest live action remake, this time coming to Disney+ instead of cinema. Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux voicing the title characters. Also stars Ashley Jenson, Sam Elliott, Benedict Wong, Ken Jeong, Kiersey Clemons, F. Murray Abraham, Thomas Mann, Janelle Monáe and Yvette Nicole Brown. Being on Disney+, the release date depends on when that service launches in your area, but 12 November in the US.
  25. Another DC (via Vertigo) comicbook movie, though not a superhero one this time. Part of their post-Wonder Woman female push, starring Melissa McCarthy and Tiffany Haddish. Despite those names, it's supposed to be a gritty crime drama rather than comedy. Written and directed by Andrea Berloff, who wrote Straight Outta Compton, Blood Father and World Trade Centre. Set in 70s Hell's Kitchen, New York, Irish mob bosses have been rounded up by the FBI. While they are away, their wives take over and are more ruthless than they ever were.
