  1. Not a Vauxhall promotion, but a movie with Brad Pitt in space. Pitt is Roy McBride, who travels to the outer edge of the solar system to find his father and unravel a mystery that threatens life in the solar system. Also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler, Jamie Kennedy and Donald Sutherland. Currently set for 20 September.
  2. Obviously it's got a big cast, many familiar to his movies. The titular French Dispatch is a collection of stories from an outpost of an American paper in a fictional French city.
  3. Seems they are having another go at a theatrical movie version. Although they're giving it to Simon McQuoid, who doesn't appear to have directed anything or worked in any other movie role according to IMDB at least. But they have now cast Joe Taslim as Sub Zero. And they have promised it will be R-Rated and includes Fatalities.
  4. 50 at the time of writing, but that's not important right now. Old is also the name of his next movie. Plot details are still secret, but it's apparently based to some extent on the French graphic novel Sandcastle. And it's clearly got something to do with time.
  5. https://deadline.com/2021/11/taika-waititi-to-adapt-alejandro-jodorowsky-graphic-novel-the-incal-as-film-1234867589/ Taika Waititi is adapting a movie version of Alejandro Jodorowsky and Mœbius graphic novel The Incal. As you can see in the video below, Jodorowsky thinks Waititi is the man to do it.
  6. https://deadline.com/2021/10/john-woo-hollywood-return-silent-night-joel-kinnaman-wordless-action-film-1234864994/ John Woo is giving Hollywood another go after nearly 20 years. This one will star Joel Kinnaman, which is probably disappointing news to some. The basic story is a normal father heading into the underworld to avenge his son's death. And it seems the big hook is that there is no dialogue.

    Barbie

WB and Mattel are doing a Barbie movie. Though it might be a bit different than you would expect. There's no plot details, but it'll be directed by Greta Gerwig and set to star Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. https://deadline.com/2021/10/ryan-gosling-ken-warner-bros-barbie-margot-robbie-1234858848/ While we wait, have this
  8. Michael Bay's remake of Danish movie Ambulancen. Stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Eiza Gonzalez, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Garret Dillahunt. Gyllenhaal and Abdul-Mateen play military veteran friends. Abdul-Mateen's wife needs surgery, so Gyllenhaal brings him on board a bank robbery to get him money to pay for it. Robbery goes wrong and they end up hijacking an ambulance to escape. Gonzales is the paramedic in the ambulance, which is also carrying one of the cops who responded to their bank robbery and got shot. Looks like Bay has finally discovered FPV drones for high speed action footage.

    Wonka

Finally, they're making the young Willy Wonka prequel the world has been screaming out for. Not due until 17 March 2023. They hope to start shooting this September, Covid permitting. Produced by David Heyman, producer of various Harry Potter and related stuff, as well as Paddington and Gravity. Directed by Paul King, also of Paddington.
  10. https://deadline.com/2019/12/free-guy-trailer-ryan-reynolds-shawn-levy-joe-keery-20th-century-fox-1202803053/ Ryan Reyonds plays a background NPC, Guy, in an open world videogame, Free City, who decides to take control of his life after being surrounded by videogame mayhem for 27 days straight. Directed by Shawn Levy. I like the opening text poking fun at the studio's new owners.
  11. Is there a topic for this? Comes from the producers of Drive and Nightcrawler. Love the look of J.K. Simmons, he's criminally underused talent.

    Cruella

Another origin story. Emma Stone stars as Estella, a grifter in 70s London. Coming to...cinemas?...on 21 May.
  13. Seems to have been confirmed that the Wonder Woman sequel is named Wonder Woman 1984. Obviously, Gal Gadot is back, with Patty Jenkins directing. But Chris Pine is also back, in the 80s. Presumably copying the TV show thing of having the same actor playing the child (or grandchild in this case?) of the previous character.
  14. It's moving ahead, being written right now, and with Maverick back in full force, rather than the initial plan for him having a small role. It's going to explore how navy aviation is changing, with dogfighting all but gone and the rise of drones. Hopefully not a remake of Stealth. It's being written by Justin Marks, whose theatrical movie credits include Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li and...that's it. He's got other stuff in pre-production, but what's released isn't a great record to judge him by. Given the videogame heavy nature of the forum, I'll just mention he's also going to potentially ruin Shadow of the Colossus and Dead Space.
  15. https://deadline.com/2021/08/the-rocketeer-movie-disneydavid-oyelowo-1234824453/ A Rocketeer sequel is finally happening, for Disney+, after an earlier plan failed to materialise. David Oyelowo is producing and possibly starring. The lead will be a retired Tuskegee airman.
  16. This probably isn't mainstream fodder. It's some kind of nightmarish sci-fi horror. He started on it during a lull in Robocop 2, then stopped for Jurassic Park. 20 years later he found everything in storage and has now completed it.
  17. Guy Ritchie returns with Toff Guys. Supposed to be in the style of Lock, Stock... and Snatch. It's old money meets the marijuana industry. So far it's got Hugh Grant, Matthew McConaughey, Kate Beckinsale, Henry Golding and Jeremy Strong. Surprisingly, it seems Hugh Grant isn't a toff, but a gossip journalist who digs into people's lives and ruins them. Jeremy Strong is a pot kingpin. Don't know the other roles yet.
  18. https://deadline.com/2020/12/neill-blomkamp-horror-movie-pandemic-district9-elysium-1234651672/ Blomkamp was supposed to make The Inferno action thriller with Taylor Kitsch this year, but production was put off because of a global pandemic. So he and the studio switched gears and shot a new smaller, more nimble movie in isolated British Columbia with some Canadians. No name or details yet, but apparently a supernatural horror. Heavy on sci-fi and VFX, which is to be expected. Something he's always wanted to make. Should be finished in spring.
  19. https://deadline.com/video/the-tomorrow-war-first-trailer-chris-pratt-amazon-sci-fi/ Chris Pratt stars in an Amazon movie where time travellers arrive from 2051 saying, in their time, they're losing a war against aliens. So they want people to go back to the future with them to help try to win the war. So they recruit a high school teacher (!) played by Pratt. He teams up with a scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons). Out on 2 July Teaser is fairly light on content.
  20. https://deadline.com/2019/02/jrr-tolkien-trailer-fox-searchlight-biopic-stars-nicholas-hoult-as-the-lord-of-the-rings-author-1202555559/ Nicholas Hoult stars as J.R.R. Tolkien in a movie exploring his formative years and World War One and the things which inspired him to write some popular books. Coming on 10 May.
  21. Matthew Vaughn is helming a big budget spy action movie, based on a novel of the same name, which isn't actually released yet either. He's got a big cast in Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Dua Lipa, Samuel L. Jackson, John Cena and Catherine O’Hara. Lipa will also be providing music. They say there will be at least three movies.
  22. This time it's Sony. But it's already a write-off. Corden is in it. It's a musical comedy starring Camila Cabello as Cinderella. Minnie Driver is Queen Beatrice and Missy Elliott in talks to play the town crier. John Mulaney, Romesh Ranganathan and James Corden are mice/footmen. Also stars Pierce Brosnan, Billy Porter, Idina Menzel, Nicholas Galitzine, Maddie Baillio and Charlotte Spencer.
  23. It's got a release date of 22 July 2022, but not yet any information about the story Cast include Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Barbie Ferreira and Brandon Perea.
  24. Jim Jarmusch is making a zombie comedy. Nothing really known about plot, but it stars Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Selena Gomez, Tilda Swinton, Steve Buscemi and Chloe Sevigny. It's already shooting.
