  1. Now that Netflix own Dahl, they've got Wes Anderson on board to write and direct The Wonderful Story Of Henry Sugar. Stars known so far are Benedict Cumberbatch (as Sugar), Ralph Fiennes, Dev Patel and Ben Kingsley. The book is made up of short stories and this movie is thought to be 3 stories.
  2. He's not done part 2 of his other epic yet, but he's already climbing on board to direct an adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke's Rendezvous With Rama. https://deadline.com/2021/12/denis-villeneuve-rendezvous-with-ram-alcon-entertainment-1234891735/
  3. Guy Ritchie is back with Jason Statham, who plays spy Orson Fortune. Hugh Grant is a villain again, as a billionaire arms dealer. Statham has to team up with operatives played by Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes and Bugzy Malone. And they have to recruit/blackmail Hollywood's biggest star played by Josh Hartnett. It's coming sometime next year.
  4. https://deadline.com/video/dc-league-of-super-pets-trailer-dwayne-johnson/ When Superman gets sidelined by Lex, Krypto has to save the day, aided by a group of shelter animals who have gained superpowers. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne and Diego Luna as animals, with John Krasinski, Kate McKinnon, Keanu Reeves, Jameela Jamil, Thomas Middleditch, Ben Schwartz and Marc Maron. 20 May 2022.
  5. https://deadline.com/2021/11/under-siege-remake-warner-bros-hbo-max-1234876156/ It's for HBO Max and being directed by Timo Tjahjanto.
  6. With The French Dispatch having entered cinemas, next up is Asteroid City. The film has already finished filming in Spain last month, but almost nothing is known about the story, other than it apparently being a romantic comedy-drama. As for cast, so far announced: Tilda Swinton Bill Murray Adrien Brody Tom Hanks Margot Robbie Rupert Friend Jason Schwartzman Scarlett Johansson Bryan Cranston Jeff Goldblum Hope Davis Jeffrey Wright Liev Schreiber Tony Revolori Matt Dillon Sophia Lillis Steve Park Maya Hawke Fisher Stevens Jake Ryan Ethan Josh Lee
  7. https://deadline.com/2021/11/taika-waititi-to-adapt-alejandro-jodorowsky-graphic-novel-the-incal-as-film-1234867589/ Taika Waititi is adapting a movie version of Alejandro Jodorowsky and Mœbius graphic novel The Incal. As you can see in the video below, Jodorowsky thinks Waititi is the man to do it.
  8. Somehow missed this, even though it's out in just over 3 weeks. Set in Columbia and starring Stephanie Beatriz, John Leguizamo, María Cecilia Botero, Diane Guerrero, Jessica Darrow, Angie Cepeda, and Wilmer Valderrama, with songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It's about a magical family living in a magical house. All the family have magical power of some kind, except one. But when the magic is under threat, she may be the only one who can save them. Disney seem to have accidentally set it for release in the UK at the same time as the US instead of having the usual months long wait. Out in both on 24 November. And it's only a 30 day theatrical window, so it'll be on Disney+ in time for Christmas. I believe it'll be a standard D+ release rather than a paid extra.
  9. https://deadline.com/2021/10/john-woo-hollywood-return-silent-night-joel-kinnaman-wordless-action-film-1234864994/ John Woo is giving Hollywood another go after nearly 20 years. This one will star Joel Kinnaman, which is probably disappointing news to some. The basic story is a normal father heading into the underworld to avenge his son's death. And it seems the big hook is that there is no dialogue.

WB and Mattel are doing a Barbie movie. Though it might be a bit different than you would expect. There's no plot details, but it'll be directed by Greta Gerwig and set to star Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. https://deadline.com/2021/10/ryan-gosling-ken-warner-bros-barbie-margot-robbie-1234858848/ While we wait, have this
  11. Michael Bay's remake of Danish movie Ambulancen. Stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Eiza Gonzalez, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Garret Dillahunt. Gyllenhaal and Abdul-Mateen play military veteran friends. Abdul-Mateen's wife needs surgery, so Gyllenhaal brings him on board a bank robbery to get him money to pay for it. Robbery goes wrong and they end up hijacking an ambulance to escape. Gonzales is the paramedic in the ambulance, which is also carrying one of the cops who responded to their bank robbery and got shot. Looks like Bay has finally discovered FPV drones for high speed action footage.
  12. https://deadline.com/2021/08/the-rocketeer-movie-disneydavid-oyelowo-1234824453/ A Rocketeer sequel is finally happening, for Disney+, after an earlier plan failed to materialise. David Oyelowo is producing and possibly starring. The lead will be a retired Tuskegee airman.
  13. This probably isn't mainstream fodder. It's some kind of nightmarish sci-fi horror. He started on it during a lull in Robocop 2, then stopped for Jurassic Park. 20 years later he found everything in storage and has now completed it.
  14. It's got a release date of 22 July 2022, but not yet any information about the story Cast include Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Barbie Ferreira and Brandon Perea.
  15. Chad Stahelski, Keanu and Lance Reddick are back, at least. Joining them will be Donnie Yen, Scott Adkins and Hiroyuki Sanada. Japanese-British singer Rina Sawayama will also debut. It's set to start filming in summer in France, Germany and Japan, with a release date of 27 May 2022.
  16. Matthew Vaughn is helming a big budget spy action movie, based on a novel of the same name, which isn't actually released yet either. He's got a big cast in Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Dua Lipa, Samuel L. Jackson, John Cena and Catherine O’Hara. Lipa will also be providing music. They say there will be at least three movies.
  17. https://deadline.com/video/settlers-trailer-sci-fi-western-wyatt-rockefeller-ifc-midnight/ Set on a remote homestead on the Martian frontier, a refugee family from Earth try to make a better life. But strangers come from the hills to run them off. Stars Jonny Lee Miller, Sofia Boutella, Nell Tiger Free and Ismael Cruz Córdova. Trailer probably reveals too much
  18. Aquaman sequel now has a name. Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, Yahya Abdul-Mateen and Dolph Lundgren all returning. Pilou Asbæk in talks to join them. I know nothing of the lore, but it apparently had the production name "Necrus" which is apparently the name of an underwater city, so that's probably the Lost Kingdom of the title.
  19. New Line/WB are back with more LotR. Animated this time. This movie is a companion to the Jackson movies, not the new Amazon show. It's set about 250 years before them. Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh are not currently involved, but Philippa Boyens is a consultant. Directed by Kenji Kamiyama, who has done a bunch of anime, and animated by Sola, who also do anime.
  20. A team is assembled for a heist in 1954 Detroit. But the heist goes wrong, seemingly a trap, and they start a search for who really hired them and to find out why. HBO Max on 1 July in the US, so probably premium rental here. https://deadline.com/video/no-sudden-move-trailer-don-cheadle-benicio-del-toro-others-in-steven-soderbergh-hbo-max/ Featuring Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, Jon Hamm, David Harbour, Amy Seimetz, Brendan Fraser, Kieran Culkin, Noah Jupe, Craig muMs Grant, Julia Fox, Frankie Shaw, Matt Damon (apparently just a cameo), Ray Liotta and Bill Duke.
  21. I know some have expressed disappointment that the old movie never got a continuation. Looks like it's finally happening. Though likely with different talent involved as it's based on the first book, when they were younger. And by the time this comes, it could be 20 years since the last one.
  22. This is from the Sony side of Marvel, not the MCU side. Due for release in January 2023, they've cast Quicksilver Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the lead role. https://www.thewrap.com/aaron-taylor-johnson-kraven-the-hunter-sony-spider-man-villain-movie/
  23. Amazon have bought MGM for $8.45billion https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-57249849.amp
  24. https://deadline.com/video/gunpowder-milkshake-action-packed-gun-tooting-trailer-karen-gillan-starring-thriller/ Karen Gillan and Lena Headey star as a mother and daughter who are a bit handy with guns. Also stars Angela Bassett, Michelle Yeoh, Carla Gugino and Chloe Coleman. Bassett, Yeoh and Gugino are involved in what appears to be like a library based version of Wick's Continental, but are also apparently more willing to get in on the action than Continental employees. Coleman is a young girl Gillan, and later the others, are trying to protect. They're up against Paul Giamatti and his many hired goons. Netflix have it in the US, but Studiocanal in the UK, which I assume means a theatrical release.
  25. https://deadline.com/video/the-tomorrow-war-first-trailer-chris-pratt-amazon-sci-fi/ Chris Pratt stars in an Amazon movie where time travellers arrive from 2051 saying, in their time, they're losing a war against aliens. So they want people to go back to the future with them to help try to win the war. So they recruit a high school teacher (!) played by Pratt. He teams up with a scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons). Out on 2 July Teaser is fairly light on content.
