  1. Matthew Vaughn is helming a big budget spy action movie, based on a novel of the same name, which isn't actually released yet either. He's got a big cast in Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Dua Lipa, Samuel L. Jackson, John Cena and Catherine O’Hara. Lipa will also be providing music. They say there will be at least three movies.
  2. This time it's Sony. But it's already a write-off. Corden is in it. It's a musical comedy starring Camila Cabello as Cinderella. Minnie Driver is Queen Beatrice and Missy Elliott in talks to play the town crier. John Mulaney, Romesh Ranganathan and James Corden are mice/footmen. Also stars Pierce Brosnan, Billy Porter, Idina Menzel, Nicholas Galitzine, Maddie Baillio and Charlotte Spencer.
  3. Jim Jarmusch is making a zombie comedy. Nothing really known about plot, but it stars Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Selena Gomez, Tilda Swinton, Steve Buscemi and Chloe Sevigny. It's already shooting.
  4. Jon Hamm is bringing back Fletch. He's starring and producing. To be directed by Greg Mottola. It's to be based on the second book, Confess, Fletch.
  5. A new one from Disney Animation. Raya is from a world named Kumandra, which is in peril. She goes on a quest to find the last dragon, to save her world. Sounds like she finds the dragon early, but the dragon, Sisu, is in human form and needs Raya's help to regain her power and become a proper dragon. The culture, design, etc. is supposed to be very south-east Asian. Apparently a bit of Hong Kong action movie vibe too. Cassie Steele is Raya and Awkwafina is Sisu. Adele Lim writing. Coming around Thanksgiving 2020.
  6. The next movie, after Soul, is Luca, set on the Italian Riviera. Dated for 18 June 2021, in the US. It'll be the feature directing debut of Enrico Casarosa, who grew up on the Riveria. He previously directed the La Luna short and worked in other parts of other Pixar and Fox/Blue Sky movies.
  7. There were early indications of a sequel already, but now a third too, with Netflix reportedly paying $400m+ for them. Craig and Johnson both returning. https://deadline.com/2021/03/knives-out-two-sequels-netflix-400-million-plus-deal-daniel-craig-rian-johnson-ram-bergman-1234724575/
  8. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/zack-snyder-returns-movies-zombie-pic-army-dead-1178979 Netflix are letting Zack Snyder loose on Army of the Dead. He literally says "There are no handcuffs on me at all with this one". It's a heist movie set during a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas. A group of mercenaries are gathered to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted, inside the quarantined zone. Visionary.
  9. https://deadline.com/video/settlers-trailer-sci-fi-western-wyatt-rockefeller-ifc-midnight/ Set on a remote homestead on the Martian frontier, a refugee family from Earth try to make a better life. But strangers come from the hills to run them off. Stars Jonny Lee Miller, Sofia Boutella, Nell Tiger Free and Ismael Cruz Córdova. Trailer probably reveals too much
  10. Aquaman sequel now has a name. Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, Yahya Abdul-Mateen and Dolph Lundgren all returning. Pilou Asbæk in talks to join them. I know nothing of the lore, but it apparently had the production name "Necrus" which is apparently the name of an underwater city, so that's probably the Lost Kingdom of the title.
  11. Coming on 19 June 2020. About a middle-school jazz teacher, Joe, who dies and goes to the You Seminar, a place where souls are made into individuals. (?) Then as a soul, goes on a cosmic adventure to get back to Earth. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross doing the score Directed by Pete Docter Joe - Jamie Foxx Joe’s mother - Phylicia Rashad Joe’s nemesis - Daveed Diggs 22, a helpful soul - Tina Fey Curly, a drummer - Questlove
  12. A team is assembled for a heist in 1954 Detroit. But the heist goes wrong, seemingly a trap, and they start a search for who really hired them and to find out why. HBO Max on 1 July in the US, so probably premium rental here. https://deadline.com/video/no-sudden-move-trailer-don-cheadle-benicio-del-toro-others-in-steven-soderbergh-hbo-max/ Featuring Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, Jon Hamm, David Harbour, Amy Seimetz, Brendan Fraser, Kieran Culkin, Noah Jupe, Craig muMs Grant, Julia Fox, Frankie Shaw, Matt Damon (apparently just a cameo), Ray Liotta and Bill Duke.
  13. I know some have expressed disappointment that the old movie never got a continuation. Looks like it's finally happening. Though likely with different talent involved as it's based on the first book, when they were younger. And by the time this comes, it could be 20 years since the last one.
  14. There's been some casting news, some confirming rumours. Mark Ruffalo is also back as Hulk, as well as Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins and Idris Elba. Natalie Portman will not feature as it's mainly off Earth. [edit] Trailer of awesome
  15. Guy Ritchie is back with Jason Statham, who plays a mysterious man known as H. But not from Steps. H takes a job at a security truck company who move huge amounts of money around LA. His co-workers are stunned when he unleashes precision skills when someone tries to rob his truck. Turns out his taking this job is somehow related to getting revenge for the killing of his son. There's also something about the story shifting across timelines and different characters perspectives. Also stars Holt McCallany, Jeffrey Donovan, Josh Hartnett, Laz Alonzo, Raúl Castillo, Deobia Oparei, Eddie Marsan and Scott Eastwood. Supposed to be released in US on 7 May and UK on 25 June. How quaint, having such a time difference.
  16. https://deadline.com/2019/01/kevin-smith-jay-and-silent-bob-sequel-saban-films-1202541853/ Smiths movies seem to have been on a downward spiral, so I'm not sure this is wanted at all. In Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, they find out Hollywood is making a movie based on them and set out to stop it. In Jay & Silent Bob Reboot, they find out Hollywood is making a reboot of the movie based on them and set out to stop it. Starts shooting next month.
  17. From the pair behind Arctic, starring Mads Mikkelsen. This one is set in a 3-person mission to Mars. But a fourth person, an engineer working on the ship before lift-off, seems to have somehow lost consciousness and was on board when it launched, becoming an unintended stowaway. The extra person, coupled with some damage, means there are not enough resources for four people to make it to Mars alive, only three. What to do? Stars Anna Kendrick, Daniel Dae Kim, Shamier Anderson, and Toni Collette.
  18. Okay, I know you guys have only just had a conversation about how Millar is overrated and it's kind of a shame all his stuff is getting made instead of better stuff. But here we are again. This time Starlight being made by Fox. And directed by Joe Cornish.
  19. JohnC

    Creed 2

Apparently they're making a sequel to come out next year. Sly's been dropping some unsubtle hints.
  20. Adam Wingard is working on a Thundercats movie. Not live action, thankfully, because he said himself he doesn't want a Cats situation. He's talking about some kind of hybrid of CGI and animation. And he's intent on keeping the characters look. He talked about it in an interview about Godzilla vs. Kong.
  21. It's Melissa McCarthy, so you know what you're getting. She, along with Octavia Spencer, gain superpowers. And also supervillians start to appear, a couple of who are played by Bobby Cannavale and Jason Bateman.
  22. Amazon are making a live action movie of Hellsing. Some of you are probably familiar with the manga or anime of it. It's being written by Derek Kolstad, writer of the John Wick movies and the new Bob Odenkirk's Nobody.
  23. Paramount are getting Edgar Wright to develop and direct a new version of The Running Man. I knew little of the background of the Arnie movie and didn't know it's based on a Stephen King (under the pseudonym Richard Bachman) book. No idea what the book is like, but it sounds like the movie is quite different and they say this new one will be more faithful to the book.
  24. Netflix are making a movie out of a videogame. Originally to be directed by David Leitch, he dropped out due to scheduling conflicts with his big Bullet Train movie, so Rawson Marshall Thurber is taking over. It'll star Jake Gyllenhaal And Jessica Chastain.
  25. Firstly, it's not about that newspaper. It's Paul Greengrass and Tom Hanks back together for some apparent Oscar bait. It was supposed to be a big cinema release, but Covid has changed plans to it being cinema in US, releasing Christmas Day, and Netflix worldwide outside that. Unsure if Netflix is the same release day. Five years after the Civil War, Hank's Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd, veteran of 3 wars, travels the US telling stories of things happening around the world. He comes across a child who has been living with Kiowa natives for 6 years and takes her on a journey to bring her to her aunt and uncle, though she doesn't want to go at first.
