  1. https://deadline.com/2022/03/the-sea-beast-karl-urban-jared-harris-dan-stevens-set-for-netflix-film-1234990992/ Netflix CG animation from Chris Williams of Moana and Big Hero Six. Starring the voices of Karl Urban, Zaris-Angel Hator, Jared Harris, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Dan Stevens and Kathy Burke. Beasts inspired by the creatures on 16th and 17th century maps. Coming on 8 July.
  2. Obviously it's got a big cast, many familiar to his movies. The titular French Dispatch is a collection of stories from an outpost of an American paper in a fictional French city.
  3. Amazon have bought MGM for $8.45billion https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-57249849.amp
  4. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/netflix-lands-jordan-peele-keegan-michael-key-stop-motion-film-henry-selick-1094475 Netflix are financing Henry Selick's next stop-motion movie. Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key play the title characters, demon brothers facing their arch-enemy to try to earn their way out of hell.
  5. The usual crew are back. Rock apparently won't be, but they're adding John Cena and UFC fighter Francis Ngannou. Michael Rooker also joining. Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren also coming back. There's rumours of Lucas Black too. It already started shooting a couple of months ago, and had an incident when a stuntman fell about 20 feet to the ground in Leavesden studios and suffered a bad head injury, being put in an induced coma for a while. No word on story yet, but it's shooting in London, LA, Thailand and Georgia (the country).
  6. Next movie from the makers of The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea and The Breadwinner. This one was snapped up by Apple for Apple TV+, but apparently is to be shown in cinemas too. No date, but supposedly this year. Sean Bean's the dad, so he's probably doomed
  7. Little detail, but another movie on the way, for Hulu, so presumably on Disney+ here. No details on story, but it's being written and directed by Fede Alvarez who made Don’t Breathe and Evil Dead. Produced by Scott. Story not known but apparently his pitch is unconnected to the previous movies. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/alien-movie-fede-alvarez-20th-century-studios-1235037155/
  8. Matthew Vaughn is directing a movie about the origins of Kingsman. Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou and Charles Dance star. Coming on 14 February.
  9. Oh shit son Not much to report on what the movie is about. Just that they're in final talks with Noah Hawley, of Fargo and Legion, to write and direct. This suddenly could be interesting.
  10. I know they rebooted it 4 years ago, but they're doing it again. With Bay still involved. And they're hoping to add quality by hiring a writer that wrote one other movie, in 2013. Andrew Dodge, who wrote Bad Words. Though he's also working on Space Jam 2. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/new-ninja-turtles-movie-works-1121467
  11. New Line/WB are back with more LotR. Animated this time. This movie is a companion to the Jackson movies, not the new Amazon show. It's set about 250 years before them. Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh are not currently involved, but Philippa Boyens is a consultant. Directed by Kenji Kamiyama, who has done a bunch of anime, and animated by Sola, who also do anime.
  12. He says it will bring an end to his action film career. It will dip into his movie and personal life, like JCVD did. He will be playing himself, who ends up in a coma after a car accident, before waking up with amnesia. He begins a quest for his identity through a series of fights from across his movie career. Apparently likely to include Dolph Lundgren (Universal Soldier), Tong Po (Kickboxer) and Bolo Yeung (Double Impact).
  13. It's got a release date of 22 July 2022, but not yet any information about the story Cast include Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Barbie Ferreira and Brandon Perea.
  14. http://deadline.com/2017/08/killing-of-a-sacred-deer-trailer-nicole-kidman-colin-farrell-1202149996/ Colin Farrell and Yorgos Lanthimos are back together having worked together on The Lobster. Joining them this time is Nicole Kidman, Barry Keoghan, Raffey Cassidy, Sunny Suljic, Bill Camp and Alicia Silverstone. Farrell is a doctor whose family falls victim to a case of supernatural revenge perpetrated by a creepy teenage boy (Keoghan), with whom he shares ties to a former patient.
  15. This is from the Sony side of Marvel, not the MCU side. Due for release in January 2023, they've cast Quicksilver Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the lead role. https://www.thewrap.com/aaron-taylor-johnson-kraven-the-hunter-sony-spider-man-villain-movie/
  16. Looks like Marvel will explore more of the cosmic stuff in Phase 4. They've hired writers, Matthew and Ryan Firpo, to adapt the Eternals comic. Apparently, they're so hot right now.
  17. Del Toro plans stop-motion 'Pinocchio' Del Toro teaming up with Henson Company for a stop-motion movie. Penned by Del Toro and someone called Gris Grimley who did a version of the book in 2002. I don't know him, but maybe some of you do. Oh, and one word which seems to stand out there is necrophilia...
  18. Another new TCM, courtesy of Netflix and Legendary. Not really a reboot or remake, it's apparently an alternate continuity sequel to the original, with a 50-years-older Sally from the original in it. Released on 18 February.
  19. http://deadline.com/2016/01/masters-of-the-universe-mcg-sony-pictures-1201688130/ Sony want to do this and apparently have it in "high gear". Which I assume means they are pushing for it to come sooner rather than later. Oh yeah, McG may be directing, after doing a rewrite. Sorry.
  20. https://deadline.com/video/gunpowder-milkshake-action-packed-gun-tooting-trailer-karen-gillan-starring-thriller/ Karen Gillan and Lena Headey star as a mother and daughter who are a bit handy with guns. Also stars Angela Bassett, Michelle Yeoh, Carla Gugino and Chloe Coleman. Bassett, Yeoh and Gugino are involved in what appears to be like a library based version of Wick's Continental, but are also apparently more willing to get in on the action than Continental employees. Coleman is a young girl Gillan, and later the others, are trying to protect. They're up against Paul Giamatti and his many hired goons. Netflix have it in the US, but Studiocanal in the UK, which I assume means a theatrical release.
  21. http://deadline.com/2018/03/robert-downey-jr-the-voyage-of-doctor-dolittle-rami-malek-kumail-nanjiani-craig-robinson-1202354251/ Universal have started shooting this live action and animated movie in London. Seems to have quite a cast. Due out in a little over a year, 12 April 2019. Live action stars include Robert Downey Jr. as Dolittle, plus Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, Harry Collett and Jim Broadbent. Then doing voice work are Ralph Fiennes, Emma Thompson, Tom Holland, Selena Gomez, Marion Cotillard, Octavia Spencer, Kumail Nanjiani, Rami Malek, Craig Robinson, John Cena, Carmen Ejogo and Frances De La Tour. I don't think I ever did see the entirety of the Rex Harrison one. And I forgot there were Eddie Murphy ones.
  22. New movie from Sony Pictures Animation. Written and directed by Mike Rianda and Jeff Rowe, from Gravity Falls, and produced by Lord and Miller. Story is about the family daughter going to college, so they make a road trip of it. But then the machines rise up. Voices include Danny McBride, Abbi Jacobson, Maya Rudolph, Olivia Colman and Eric Andre.
  23. Now that Netflix own Dahl, they've got Wes Anderson on board to write and direct The Wonderful Story Of Henry Sugar. Stars known so far are Benedict Cumberbatch (as Sugar), Ralph Fiennes, Dev Patel and Ben Kingsley. The book is made up of short stories and this movie is thought to be 3 stories.
  24. BBC and Mackenzie Crook are making two hour-long Worzel movies for broadcast around Christmas. Crook is writing, directing and starring. Apparently many of The Detectorists team are involved.
  25. Mary Poppins is getting a sequel, starring Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The film will be directed by Rob Marshall. Click here for info on the plot. I'm almost in a state of shock. Can't believe I hadn't heard about this being in development. I will avoid this like hell and only consider watching it if it were to get an insane amount of rave reviews. This just feels wrong to me it's not like Disney ever cared for P. L. Travers and her vision, but man... Would love to be proven wrong of course. Plus, ever since seeing this, the only new Mary Poppins I accept is a Kristen Bell Mary Poppins
