    MASK

Paramount and F. Gary Gray are turning the 80's toys into a movie. They're looking at it being a franchise. Also, "a contemporary subculture movie with a youth empowerment angle." In the meantime, have this
  2. https://www.dccomics.com/blog/2018/04/17/breaking-news-spielberg-enters-the-world-of-dc-with-blackhawk Stevie is doing a comicbook movie for WB, though it may not be part of the Snyderverse. Blackhawk is an ace WWII fighter pilot and leader of the Blackhawk Squadron. Obviously, they fight Axis powers, as well as more comicbook style villains. I imagine WWII fighter pilots may have attracted Spielberg to this over the more usual kind of comic movie.
  3. No, it's not a movie set in that London, but a stop motion animated feature about a boy in search of his dog in Japan. Due 20th April 2018. As usual, he's put together quite a cast.
  4. Netflix have done a deal for the Extreme Studios comics. I don't know much, or anything really, about them, but it was apparently later known as Awesome Comics too before closing. They were a studio from Deadpool's Rob Liefield. Alan Moore was involved too for a while. Akiva Goldsman will be setting up a writers room for the series of connected movies. Characters have very 90s names like Bloodstrike, Bloodwulf, Cybrid and Re-Gex, among others.
  5. http://deadline.com/2018/03/netflix-scores-vigilante-superhero-feature-from-rick-famuyiwa-tj-fixman-with-keanu-reeves-in-talks-to-star-1202307469/ Another Netflix movie. This time about a new kind of vigilante superhero. Though for now they're not saying what's new about him. Keanu Reeves is in talks to star. Produced by the Russo brothers. It's directed by Dope director Rick Famuyiwa and written by TJ Fixman (AKA Todd Fixman), who has written, er, a bunch of Ratchet & Clank games and its movie, as well as the Resistance 2 game. Though apparently some other movies which haven't been made yet too.
  6. J.J. Abrams producing a sci-fi thriller with Paramount, to be directed by Nigerian director Julius Onah. David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, John Krasinski and Elizabeth Debicki already signed on and Daniel Bruhl in final negotiations. It's about a bunch of people on a space station who conduct an experiment and they accidentally cause Earth to disappear. How embarrassing. But then a space shuttle appears and, depending on which source you read, they must determine if they are friend or foe or it challenges all they know about the fabric of reality. Maybe both fit in. Sounds like potential for something good, I just hope it lives up to it. It's due to come out in February 2017.
  7. Yep, that above is the official title of the sequel. Eggsy and Merlin head to the US version of Kingsman, Statesman. Headed by a "swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy" called Jack and Halle Berry's Ginger. Lead villain, Poppy, played by Julianne Moore. Vaughn was unsure about directing as he was worried about the villain and these movies rely on the villain a lot, but he woke up one morning with what he thinks is a good villain plot. Some concept art
  8. Maybe nothing will come of it, but QT is working with JJ Abrams and Paramount to develop a Star Trek movie idea of his, which he might direct. http://deadline.com/2017/12/quentin-tarantino-star-trek-movie-jj-abrams-1202220032/
  9. I Can't Believe It's Not An Asylum Sy-Fy Special! Directed by Rob Cohen, which they make a point of saying directed The Fast & The Furious and xXx. Some people steal $600m from a mint during a category 5 hurricane. Some other people try to stop them during a category 5 hurricane. It gets a bit windy.
  10. I wasn't aware there was a sequel novel to The Shining, but this is a movie version of it. It follows Danny Torrance, now in his 40s, and suffering anger and alcohol issues. And psychic powers. Akiva Goldsman originally wrote a script, but it's being rewritten and directed by Mike Flanagan, director of Oculus and the recent Netflix Gerald's Game.
  11. It's from a couple of weeks ago, but Ed Neumeier claims MGM has him working on a new sequel. Not a sequel to the remake, but the original. Not even 2 or 3, but the actual original.
  12. Michael Caine must have some bills to pay. He plays a Communist dictator who becomes pen pals with an American high school girl (Odeya Rush). He gets overthrown and goes on the run, to her. Not creepy at all. Also features Katie Holmes, Jason Biggs and Seth Green. Out in the US on 16 March. Presumably a very limited theatrical presence as it's on VoD the same day and on DVD 24 April.
  13. There's been various bits in different X-Men threads, but doesn't seem to have its own thread. Anyway, Channing Tatum has been attached to this since what feels like the dawn of time, as well as directors coming and going. But Deadpool and Logan's successes have put a renewed effort into it. Now Gore Verbinski is in charge and it's even got a release date, 14 February 2019. But it's being written by Josh Zetumer, who wrote the turd Robocop and Patriots Day, which I had no interest in so don't know how it turned out.
  14. This might have potential
  15. Directed by Ava DuVernay, adapted from the 1960's sci-fi book by Madeleine L'Engle. I haven't read the book but it seems it has quite a passionate following. Quite like the look of the trailer. Ava DuVernay's last two films have been fantastic so I'm hoping it's in the same league as those.
  16. Fresh from starring with himself in The Deuce, James Franco will again star with himself in Multiple Man. Some guy who can make clones of himself. He's a Marvel character they get to use from the X-Men rights. It'll be written by Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg.
  17. Less walking in the air, more killing in the snow. Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones and J.K. Simmons star in an adaptation of a book by Norwegian writer Jo Nesbø. Fassbender is the dubiously named detective Harry Hole, investigating a serial killer. Directed by Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy). Released in UK on 13 October and US on 20 October.
  18. Just for a change, someone's making a Stephen King (and Peter Straub) adaptation. Josh Boone is writing, and maybe directing, for Amblin. He's also doing King's The Stand (though that's on hold right now) and Revival. It's about a boy going to a parallel world to find a talisman to save his mother. It was originally going to be a mini-series, but they're doing a movie instead. I've seen mention that it could be a bit much for a movie and it would have been better off as a mini-series?
  19. Based on a true story about British explorer Percy Fawcett on a trip to find the mythical City of Z in Brazil in 1925. It's Amazon on the Amazon. Stars Charlie Hunnam, Robert Pattinson, Sienna Miller, and Tom Holland and directed by James Gray. 21 April 2017 in US.
  20. http://deadline.com/2017/09/men-in-black-spinoff-may-17-2019-steven-spielberg-walter-parkes-laurie-macdonald-matt-holloway-art-marcum-1202179483/ MiB 23 was supposed to be next, but this new movie will be leapfrogging it. Already given a release date of 17 May, 2019. No Smith and Jones. From the writers of Iron Man and, er..., Transformers: The Last Knight. Supposed to be a more global scale.
  21. http://deadline.com/2017/08/super-troopers-2-trailer-broken-lizard-sequel-jay-chandrasekhar-1202157309/ Apparently someone discovered that markers for the US-Canada border are wrong and certain areas become contested territory. Naturally, the Troopers are patrolling the contested area, imposing US law on Canadians who aren't happy about it. The cast are back (Including Brian Cox and Lynda Carter), adding Rob Lowe and Tyler Labine.

  23. The Farthest, a documentary on the Voyager space probes, it's been getting very good reviews, recommended whether you're into space or not. I've heard it's definitely worth seeing on a big screen too. I'm not sure how wide a release this is getting in the UK, but it's apparently opening in the UK on 1 September. It's already showing in the US. My local's having a screening this week too, with a directer Q&A, which I intend to go to.
  24. When Tim Miller dropped out of Deadpool 2, they said they'd make sure he got something major for him. Well, this is it. Good luck.
  25. This isn't what I thought it was going to be. I thought it was going to be played straight in the Ninjago theme, totally separate to the other movies, but it seems to have similar humour to the Lego and Batman movies. Also, I learned Ninjago isn't pronounced how I thought is was.
