The worst I've seen happen is that it does QR, then it must have a quick think about syncing, then it bails out and you have to load from scratch again with your latest save. 

It could be a bit smoother but seems safe.

I found it needed a fair bit of grinding before moving onto anywhere new. As much as I enjoyed it, it wasn't well balanced.

Sort of. Yes and No. I don't have a steam deck. 

I'm mostly a handheld gamer already now because of life so I've been through all this. I need something I can pick up between children and jobs, that ideally I don't have to get off the sofa for or use the TV my wife has monopolised. So I've been through all this with the Switch where my gaming time shot up massively and I've been buying various handhelds since for things like emulators. 

What Steam Deck, and the potential of it, has done is change my buying habits.  I have something that runs Steam Link very well on handheld now and the eShop died for me when I got that working. 

Switch was getting a lot of love catching up on games I hadn't bothered with on PC. But you pay a premium for it. You can be paying ten times as much on eShop for something you can get for pennies on Steam.

Also, (especially in handheld) you're getting what is likely the worst version of the game. I'd been happily playing Ys VIII on Switch, but once I played it on a 9 year old PC I realised Switch was looking a bit shit with pixelation and 15fps animation of stuff in the distance. That crap version of the game is locked in on Switch too. It will not only never improve, but not get a chance to as any purchase you make on eShop is unlikely to carry over to a new generation. Steam does have that issue. 

If Steam Deck hits gen 2 or 3, or someone else knocks out a good value windows handheld, I'm probably getting one as long as it's 1080p and doesn't munch through loads of battery power in minutes.

You'd be surprised. My 1-year-old is not only climbing everything but positioning it. 

Lost Odyssey really keeping its value after all that time. And rightly so, it's class. But it's 720p with no fancy upscaling on new hardware  ...I've been very shallow about it and having a hard time starting it again because it looks so muddy. 

Apparently, you can increase internal res on Xenia emulator, so not sure why they don't bother on xbox series s/x. Similar story for Blue Dragon, I think.

I've been tempted but it has been at the bottom of my JRPG catch up list because it's meant to be daft. 

Can confirm. I've recently been using a 360 game I'm playing to get points and do quests. I'm not sure the system is clever enough to care.

Although, if I were to buy it again I’d be tempted by PC as you can’t  play it on either xCloud or streaming off Xbox

If you have a GC emulator, Winning eleven 6 felt a bit different too (and you can get an English patch these days). Felt a bit more fluid and less on the rails. Like the others, it's barely any different but it might click if you lean more towards ISS.

PES 3 probably. I think I enjoyed 4 more as it was easier and more open for mp, and 5 flipped too far and was too hard to score. 

Only thing on my wish list is that new Star Ocean, as long as it reviews well. But otherwise Persona 5 for "free"

Invincible Tiger was the first game to use the HDMI 3D standard (maybe). Which I only know as I did a tiny bit of work on it. It played okay for what it was but no one bought it.

You can't get it on anything now tho as it was digital and the company went bust.

It's all a bit meaningless at the moment - faked images of new consoles are nothing new and anyone can make claims about specifications - but maybe an official announcement will be on the way.

I'd be shocked if anything more top end 

coming out will be slower than a steam deck. They will however cost shitloads more. 

I was mostly 360, but at the end of the generation I got a PS3 to get through all the exclusives and stream videos from my PC. PS+ really kicked off then and it became my primary console as by that point even the 3rd party multi-platform stuff was running pretty well on that crazy setup. 

But even then, none of the exclusives really stood out for me except for Ni No Kuni, but that's on loads of other platforms now so I wouldn't go back for it. I played some Uncharted and some Ratchet and Clank, but I couldn't tell you which ones. I tried the Souls games but I don't like it. Motorstorm was fine. Okami HD was exclusive for a fair while and looked stunning, but I already had that on PS2. 

As I say, despite early issues the multi-platform stuff worked pretty well on it in the end. PS3 is going to be remembered fondly on emulation running them even better (and on a 360 pad). Transformers: War for Cybertron was a highlight. I got GTAV for it when it was first released, but stupidly got the digital version that had popups because it didn't stream from the disc. I've been itching to play Prince of Persia: cel-shaded handheld, having to make do with streaming on PC. 

I worked on a fair few games on that generation too and looking forward to being able to play them without having to get a console out the attic. Unless it needs Move. Or Kinect. Which I don't have anyway. *sigh*

This film is all kind of average but my kid wants to watch it all the time and I don't hate it like some of his other favourites. So it can't be all bad.
