  1. Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback. It might be my memory playing tricks--almost definitely, considering I'd never tasted Mountain Dew until a few years ago--but they taste like fizzy drinks used to taste. Libby's Moonshine, Um Bongo's sister drink made from 'forest fruit' juice. I picked up an eight-pack of Tab (not Tab Clear) out of nostalgia a couple years ago. Horrible stuff, like watered down Coca Cola backwash.
  2. This week's Tales from the Fireside is a look at the games, the story, the community and the past, present and future of the Legend of the Five Rings franchise, incorporating an interview with AEG's brand manager Todd Rowland. You can read it here: Tales from the Fireside - A Warrior's Wisdom
  3. That's just mental. On the other hand, at the next championships will anyone actually use a deck containing that card or will everyone be playing decks to counter it?
  4. Lovely fat list of all the White Wolf products due out in the next year:
  5. I don't usually post my stuff here but I wrote a tribute about Andy here: http://campfireburning.wordpress.com/2011/09/12/255-the-death-of-a-god/ If you don't care to read it, here's the big man in action.
  6. In other Fantasy Flight news, new Tannhauser bits and bobs! http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=2632
  7. In their ongoing quest to rid gamers the world over of money Fantasy Flight have announced Khazad-Dum, the first deluxe expansion for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. It contains 165 cards with the player cards focussed (but not limited to) upon Dwarves, including two Dwarvern heroes, nine(!) encounter packs and three scenarios. Even more interesting, the encounter packs will be necessary for the next cycle of Adventure Packs--the Dwarrowdelf Cycle--meaning the distribution has been tweaked from the first cycle. What does that mean? Well, Adventure Packs are small, regular expansions tha
  8. In my experience Toys 'R' Us have a few of the larger designer board games--Settlers, Carcassonne--but mostly kiddie games. You might be in luck but I wouldn't hold my breath.
  9. Maybe I'm a god as well. You can't prove I'm not!
  10. He said something nice about me on Twitter earlier. That's more than any god's done.
  11. Looney Tunes Back in Action has a great bit of product placement. Lost in the desert without water or suitable attire a mirage appears: it's Walmart! The characters go in, come out seconds later festooned with branded tat, and after talking about it Bugs Bunny says something like "It sure was nice of Walmart to give us all this stuff in exchange for us saying Walmart so many times." I think the score even has a choir singing "Waaaal maaart" at this point as well. The worst piece of product placement I've seen was an episode of The Dead Zone in which Johnny uses his psychic powers to find his s
  12. I'm not a fan of Dungeoneer but I know Joyrex likes it. It'll be interesting to hear what you think of it.
  13. I think--could be wrong--they're included with Wrath of the Elements.
  14. Inside is just a note saying "I.O.U. 130 DICE"
  15. One of the DMing types I follow on Twitter posted a link to 'Face of Wizards of the Coast' Chris Perkins's regular column. Should be worth a look for any aspiring games master. http://www.wizards.com/DnD/Archive.aspx?category=all&subcategory=dmexperience
  16. You wait until they see Redakai. You'll get origami cards that have different powers depending on how you fold them, and light up cards with sound effects, and a special Magic: The Gathering Oyster Card that won't let you go to Kensington if you haven't got enough mana.
  17. All well covered by a certain gaming podcast (and its accompanying website), I can't help but notice.
  18. Happy birthday! I'd say I hope you have a good day but it sounds like you already have.
  19. Formula D's popular. That's the one racing game I have on my Amazon wishlist.
  20. Won't the online game feature the new cards anyway?
  21. After seeing Joyrex mention Dominion on Google+ I was reminded to post this: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgameexpansion/104557/dominion-hinterlands Another Dominion expansion - Dominion: Hinterlands - is on its way. "Dominion: Hinterlands is the sixth addition to the game of Dominion. It adds 26 new Kingdom cards to Dominion, including 20 Actions, 3 Treasures, 3 Victory cards, and 3 Reactions. The central theme is cards that do something immediately when you buy them or gain them."
  22. The new Tales from the Fireside is up! Everything you ever wanted to know about Trading Card Games and Living Card Games (but were afraid to ask in case online dating tech blog writers refused to go out with you) Tales from the Fire Side - TCG, LCG, WTF?!
