  1. As has been mentioned already, this looks pretty good! Mainly (from my view) because it appears quite distinct from the other SW shows. Filmic, expensive and weighty. It also has far more Stellan (and others) than I thought it would for a show centred around someone else. Hopefully that's not just the trailer's editing..

I don't care! I've still pulled off a Fireball dammit! And because of @Fallows advice I can now also Dragon Punch!! Edit: F Sake, embedding gifs is annoying!

NEWSFLASH! First Chun Li Fireball unleashed! Interesting thing I've found tho is that Normal and Turbo are completely different for pulling off these special moves. At least for me. I decided to try playing Turbo (I always just default to Normal) and hey presto, I pulled off a Fireball! Apparently Normal is Champion Edition rules and I just can't pull it off there at all. I don't know what gymnastics you have to do with your thumb, but I find it impossible. Swap over to Turbo tho and I can at least do it sporadically. Anyway, Huzzah! Thanks for all the help everyone!!

Ok I'll give it another go tomorrow. Can't let this damn game beat me!

Her crouch was leading me to believe that I was doing something wrong too. But I've just been giving it another go, I'm nothing if not persistent, but I just can't get anything to happen. I can't even find examples of her performing the fireball on yt, in order to check whether there's a crouch frame in there, which is just plain bizarre! Performing a half circle must surely initiate a crouch shouldn't it? I mean, you're pushing down , right? Because she always crouches when I try it. The fact that I've not managed a fireball ever, not once, is really really odd.

Yep manual just says half circle and punch. Still can't do it and thoroughly fed up. Just like in '92. Rubbish.

I'm totally down with making specials difficult but a half circle and a button press shouldn't be that hard, should it? I literally sat for about 30 mins continually attempting it and didnt pull it off once.. That's really weird. Which leads me to believe there's some knack to it?

Bit of a bump here, but been playing on this with my niece and nephew and it's a blast. One thing that has seriously annoyed me though is my continual inability to pull off some special moves in SF II!! Like WTF!? Back in the day it's what turned me off SF and I'm still finding it impossible now. Seriously how is that possible? For example the most annoying one is Chun Li's fireball. I've never been able to do it yet it should be a snap. I can do Ryu's no problem but that extra 1/4 seems to evade me. Is there some weird knack I'm missing? So embarrassing..
  9. Get Kathryn Bigelow in and she'd knock it out of the park or at least make it as good as it can be. A fantastic director and most importantly in this case, a fantastic director of action.
  10. That's how I feel too. Only I can't get past the art because, for me, it's so intrinsic to a game. I do believe that art is on the same level as gameplay, I always have, but that's totally just my opinion. Regarding the time to draw pixel art. I think that's become a bit of a crutch to beat the style with. A good pixel artist (and there's quite a few now due to its popularity) can bang out art at a very decent rate. I would cite Shredders Revenge and the new Ninja Warriors title as examples. Anyway again it's a shame for me because I adore the first two titles. But it's totally Ron Gilbert's decision and that's fine. I hope it's a big success as maybe it will rejuvenate the genre and some other company can come in with a professional pixel entry.
  11. I'd take 1 unit of Nintendo stock, if I could afford it! A sound investment if you ask me.
  12. Nope, I hate the art style too. Nothing wrong with that. I wish Ron Gilbert had gone the pixel direction (ala Turtles Shredders Revenge) I feel it would have got universal acclaim, but he didn't so hey ho. I'm really glad he's getting to do it though! Maybe some enterprising kids will patch in some pixel art some day.
  13. Colour me interested too. I'm not interested in the disks working either.
  14. Definitely don't recycle them! Stick them on here at least as I'm sure plenty would have an interest. I'm pretty passionate about big boxes so I'd definitely be interested.
  15. Is this getting a switch physical euro release soon? All I can find is that limited run are handling the US release and some company called Merge are handling europe. But there's no mention of a date..
  16. Nintendolife seem to take the complete opposite direction and absolutely love it. Obviously they're Nintendo content, but I've found them generally trustworthy. https://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/nintendo-switch/mario-strikers-battle-league
  17. That's actually pretty brilliant. Watching the trailer, I found the spoken English/US accents quite jarring so I'd be far more interested in watching with the original language and subtitles.
  18. Apparently the Famitsu review is out for Strikers and while the score is by the by, as per usual with Famitsu, does anyone know if it mentions the inclusion of a single player mode?
  19. I wonder when the embargo is for the review? I can't remember if Nintendo plays the 'lift the embargo early, if the title is a sure fire hit' game or not?
  20. There still seems no solid info on if Strikers actually includes a single player, which would kinda rule it out for me. Especially given we're so near to its release. It would be such a shame if it doesn't, it looks like a lot of work has gone into it. The premise, football crossed with Speedball looks right up my street.
  21. Aren't some budget releases going for big bucks now? I'm sure I've seen hit squad titles going for quite high sums, as insane as that sounds.
  22. The Dalton or early Brosnan ones? Strong female characters with less embarrassing moments. Particularly when compared to the Craig era. That seemed like a real step back imo. Some of the treatment of women in those takes the breath away.
